OK to get it out right up front - I'm 71 years old and I know the target market for this thing is males, probably half my age, but what the hell - I bought one last Friday (6/7/19) and LOVE it. My other car is a Genesis G90 5.0 Ultimate HTRAC, but this Kona is FUN. Everywhere I go people ask me about it, where did I get it, and everyone loves just how damn cool it is. (especially those 30 something males!) I had a bit of trouble convincing my wife of 51 years that I needed to trade her 2017 MINI Cooper S Convertible for this, but she finally gave in. My only worry is the matte paint but I'll just take it to a detailer and have them do whatever needs to be done to keep the finish looking good. The 1.6 Turbo and 7 Speed DCT make a good paring and the car is quite peppy considering it weighs 1 1/2 tons. I know I'm still in the honeymoon phase since I have had it just over one day, but it is really a blast to drive and it has enough luxury items to keep me happy. I especially love the way the red hood and trim sets off the "Iron Man Matte Gray" finish. I would recommend this car to anyone, if you can find one. Some dealers are asking $5000 over sticker, but my dealer, knowing I'll be coming in for a 2020 G90 in about a year, gave me a GREAT deal. UPDATE: Well I've had it for a month now and I still love driving it. It has a few things I would change. My three major complaints are : 1 - Too much hard plastic. They could have spent a few buck on nicer door panels (color and soft touch materials) 2 - Non power folding mirrors. I know that sounds like a nit, but folding mirrors makes garage entry easier. Power folding mirrors would be nice. 3 - No ambient lighting. I think they really missed the boat here. There are numerous ways they could have incorporated red ambient lighting in this car. Those nits aside, it is a blast to drive and every time I get gas, I get lots of questions. And as to gas, I've been averaging 30 mpg, mostly city, with 10% highway driving. When I want a nice relaxing drive I drive my Genesis G90. When I want to have a bit of fun I drive the Kona. TWO MONTH UPDATE: Still having a blast. I've had people take pictures of it at gas stations and when I came out of the grocery store yesterday some woman was taking pictures to show her 30 somthing son. She loved it and said he would go crazy over it, even though he was a "Mopar Man". Everywhere I go I get questions about where I got it and how I like it. I've had kids from 10 to 70 asking me about it. People slow down on the highway to get a better look. I haven't had a car get this much attention since I got the first 1986 Mercury Sable sold in the St Louis area.

I had my Genesis G90 in for service and was wandering around the showroom when the Kona Iron Man jumped out at me. I too bought it off the showroom floor. You know at our age we need to have fun things too! If you are married you must also have an understanding spouse. Mine has grown to love it and she has quit mourning her lost MINI Convertible. Our great grandaughter loves it and loves riding in it. She''s 6 years old and very opinionated. Happy motoring.

Usually these “movie” themed cars are either way over the top and look childish or so understated it’s just a random sticker etc. This Kona really hits a sweet spot in my opinion. Lots of stuff the Ironman nerds will notice, but not so over the top it doesn’t look like you are driving a marketing toy. Well done and a lot effort put into a niche car.

Hyundai/KIA get IT more than any other automotive company out there today. The fact that you said there is no CVT crap transmissions on the lot just blows me away. I can’t think of another mainstream car manufacturer that has shunned the dreaded CVT. I personally would never buy a car with one but I don’t like automatics in the first place. Great review! This paint job looks cool and all...but if you need to get body work done later on, it going to be a PAIN. trust me..I drove a matte paint job veloster turbo in the past and after some goofball ran into me, the nightmare just started. Hyundai couldnt match the matte color paint job correctly and I ended up having a mosaic body panel color car. Took it to many other hyundai dealers for repaint but they still couldnt make it right. Im NEVER going with that matte paint job again.

My local Walmart has one of these sitting on the floor. I sat in it this week. Super cool looking car and very comfortable inside and nice instrument layout. As you said at this price point having no dual climate control, hard plastic door panels and dash and no rear air vents or usb plugs in the rear plus many other things it is way overpriced. If t had all the before mentioned things this would be a sweet ride. Definitely an eye catcher.

What they don't tell you about this car is that you shouldn't run it thru a car wash because it will damage the paint. The only safe way to clean this car is to hand wash and use recommend cleaner. I'm also hearing about engine issues with 2018/2019 Kona's online as well as quirky electric issues...is this true with this Iron Man model or ?

Nothing against Hyundai.... but this car is just not that nice to look at in my opinion. Also the interior design and quality is just not there either. I do get why people would though. It is very distivctive and interesting. At least... from the outside.

It actually is rated as the best interior and top rated quality in its segment. I could see why some people still think of Hyundai as if it's still 1990s. Hyundai now ranks top in quality, reliability, affordability and refinement. With every generation it takes a big leap while other manufacturers fall asleep at the wheel
