Yeah, I don't understand how this is different from the AR HUD in my EQS.
@MilanStier7 сағат бұрын
It is but it has specific quirks that a HUD doesn't follow.
@Ray__E2 сағат бұрын
Exactly.
@jayem89812 сағат бұрын
@@ani_b This is clearly FAR more extensive than any HUD currently on the market. Look at what this HUD can display on the passenger side for example. The projector your EQS uses clearly is not on that level of sophistication.

All I want is a windshield that won't cost a week's worth of work
@himynameisryan16 сағат бұрын
Buy a car without rain sensing wipers, HUD, or any driver assist active safety features then Replacing the windshield requires a piece of glass compatible with these tech features and often requires recalibrating them which is where the cost comes from Personally, I am willing to pay to have these features cause they make driving soooooo much more chill

I guess because you don’t have to look away from the windshield while driving
@Aestiar12 сағат бұрын
You don’t need to look down for checking speed or dash board which can cause 10m+ of moving

@@Billygoatbuff Correct, most (95%) people takes >300ms to focus to and back from exterior mirror. Static shows an increase of reaction time with weather conditions (snow, fog) and age (me).

Finally I'll be able drive with my eyes looking at the road instead of constantly fixed on the speedometer because I don't want any more speeding fines for going 1 mph over the speed limit.

Nonsense. This is great.

They show case the max capacity and you can only display speedo if you want. That is called SDV (software defined vehicle). I won't say it will be user customizable due to regulartory requirements in different countries. But user will have choice and (hopefully) OEM will update the SDV by OTA like Tesla already done in the passed 10 years.

People don’t understand the amount of studies and science behind this stuff. They know where you’re looking, for how long, and how each artifact on the screen is going to affect your driving. Cognitive psychology. That’s fine. People use limited knowledge (citing current applications with similar aspects and huge limitations) instead of seeing through the views of the future.
@jayem898114 сағат бұрын
Thank you. All these commenters with their predictable negativity are only highlighting their ignorance.

Purpose of CES is to showcase and get feedback. For OEM, they need public opininon to make sure their $1 spend in the right direction. ~95% of the items in the CES does not make the cut into production and even less for company to make $. But the one that makes the cut does have great impact to human life (at least for the one who can afford it). To name a few that was debuted in CES and had become the future. 1. Robot vacuum 2. Smart Mobile phone (some) 3. Smart IoT appliances (light, door) 4. Smart TV ....

We already have information projected on a small plastic screen in front of the windscreen in our Kona Ultimate (2020). We love it as you can keep your eyes on the road instead of the dashboard behind the steering wheel. The new windshield display will make the experience even better.

This is definitely a huge distraction. Some cars have already had a similar feature. I know for a fact because I was in one before which projected zone speed limit, current speed, and simple navigation steps (like turn left or right in a 100 feet etc.). Very distracted and took me a while to get used to. I think the most useful feature will be voice control when changing ALL car settings. That's the killer feature.
