Had this issue with my 2020 EX. Dealership said the housing was cracked and wanted $600 to fix. Charged me $170 for their time on the incorrect assessment and refusal to fix under warranty. The housing was not cracked. I chose to replace the whole housing anyway and the gasket myself, which as you can see in the video is easy. Appreciate the torq spec as I couldn't find it anywhere. Great video and I hope more people report this issue, hold dealerships accountable, while also taking the initiative to fix things yourself and save a bunch of money!

It was exactly my problem, DON’T REMOVE INNER FENDER WELL. Short 12 mm socket 3/8” to 1/2” adaptor and torque wrench, set to 8 ft pounds torque to start, move up to 14 ft pounds torque. When vehicle is COLD. My bolts were loose. Hyundai parts direct online shipped correct seal direct to my house for under $13. Thanks for the video Great Work PUT VEHICLE ON PLASTIC RAMPS AND HAD PLENTY OF ROOM TO WORK.

Great video, thank you! My son bought bought an aluminum housing and we’re going to change it out today. I was able to do the job without disturbing the fender liner. Glad you did it for the video, much clearer view. Thanks again!

just did the same - plastic housing was cracked. Also didn't need to completely remove fender liner, just a few clips and was able to get in there. Need to take the whole thing out to get good video though. TY for posting this

Did you drain the oil beforehand?
@PopPopsFixitShop22 күн бұрын
No I did not I thought I mentioned it in the video but no I did not. When you pulled the oil filter housing off of the block just a tiny minimal amount comes out and goes into the drain pan that I had there and that is just what the oil filter housing was holding.

Anyone know the specs for the aluminum housing? Assume it wouldn’t be the same as the plastic one.
@BlueCalcite110 күн бұрын
23.1 to 28.2 ft-lbs for the filter cap. 14.5 to 15.9 ft-lbs for the bolts. These are taken from the images on the Amazon product listing for the aluminum housing.
