I have a 2023 kia telluride. I got it brand new!!! 29miles. I've been having issues the first 2 days of purchasing it. 1st. It was a recall for the passenger airbag & dashboard speaker. So, I was back at the dealership 2 days after purchasing my vehicle. 2nd, my fuel sensor kept saying low fuel even when it was full!! It would ask if I wanted to search for a gas station. The more I would drive, the bars would go back up to full. I made an appointment, but by the time I went in, nothing was happening, so they couldn't find any issues. Next, my foward collision sensor would come on saying that they were not working, so it would not prevent me from having any accidents. The service department is trach!!!! I filed a claim, but it was denied due to them never trying to fix the issues. Lastly, the drive shaft recall was fixed. Honestly, I haven't had any issues since. They also did an update on the electrical system

I own a 2020 KIA Telluride EX and I've had paint issues within the first year, but it only continued to get worse after the 3600 miles warranty and KIA refuses to correct the issue. Why? Turns out the paint isn't adhering to the body primarily on the front hood and along the top windshield area by sunroof. Second issue (MAJOR) Engine Overheating and all KIA initially kept saying at the dealership service center, "sorry we can't replicate the issue!" Meanwhile they allowed the engine to continue overheating where I have both photos and videos of this, and it occurs mainly when driving over 30-mins BUT they only driven the vehicle for a couple miles to simply let it sit and idle for several hours. ?? That's NOT driving the vehicle. I asked if it was the thermostat and was assured it was not as their computer system didn't indicate such. Short version, this caused my engine to warp and needed replacing!! Almost $10k and they actually tried to pawn it entirely on me to pay for! 🤨😡 I serviced the vehicle with KIA since day one and they gave me the sales spill of how they truly appreciate loyalty of customers like myself. But after this major flop, they refuse to honor any issues or services and LACK of Service to the vehicle! Next action is joining the class action law suit or file separately. Next MAJOR issue is the headlights, which the HighBeams went out and they also refused to fix it claiming some lame excuse(s) and that each light would need to be replaced at the cost of nearly $1,500 "EACH." Here's the sneaky part KIA didn't share with its owners... this is #1 a SAFETY ISSUE, not a warranty issue! Besides that... KIA attempted to keep this issue under wraps because they screwed up with faulty rubber seals around the headlight. To the point where they quietly tried to replace these on a number of vehicles without the customers knowledge and those rubber seals are also FAULTY!! Causing the shortage on the circuit board that operates the HighBeams and causes the bulb to blow! Which I've literally replaced more than several bulbs within a 4 yr window already. Yes, several bulbs as in more than 8. KIA's official answer to resolving and fixing this issue... they don't have an answer yet??!! Lastly, the transmission keeps slipping and vibrating and shaking briefly whenever accelerating after they replaced the engine where I was strong armed to pay 30% and they paid 70% when this issue was under the warranty! KIA pulled a fast break saying since this issue occurred again after the 100k miles (mind you... the same issue before and during the warranty phase) was not fixed as claimed and thus bringing it back again to realize they screwed up and caused the warping of my engine to be replaced. Any advice and assistance would greatly be appreciated. So, anyone on here reading... these are the Major Issues KIA is refusing to honor and if they refuse, we should sue them and make sure they fix these major issues!!! Engine Overheating, Bad Thermostats, Vibrating and Transmission Slipping and Shaking while Accelerating at low and highway speeds, Safety issues with Headlight (HighBeam) due to faulty rubber seals not being able to keep moisture out which cause bulbs blown and circuit board shortage. And finally POOR Paint "PEELING" on the hood and front upper portion of Telluride.

Toyota and Honda are having their problems as well. Toyota had to replace 100k engines for the Tundra, LX600 and others. Honda has had issues with its 1.5T in the Civic and other vehicles with oil dilution, the wiring harness in the Civic which fails causing the alarm to go off constantly, their poor placement of the AC condenser causing it to get killed by rocks. The issue is manufacturers have been forced because of the Covid disruptions to use their 3rd, 4th, and 5th tier suppliers to make enough vehicles. Now its coming back to bite them.

If you see blue smoke from the exhaust, it loosing or burning oil. One thing I would try is to see if it keeps loosing oil going to 2000 miles. I had an airplane that you could top off the oil after every flight but if you did not top it off, the level would remain 1 quart down for the next several flights. Not sure if it had the wrong dipstick or Lycoming engineers goofed. Just a thought.

I mean, lots of brands have recalls. My Telluride had several and they were mostly just software updates and some window trim and took an hour at the dealer. Not a big deal and just a part of owning a vehicle, especially these newer ones that are basically computers on wheels. They're pretty reliable on the road itself, and Kia has a great 10 years 100K mile warranty so you don't really need to worry about it for the big engine stuff.
@paulcarlin51813 ай бұрын
Kia and Hyundai's do have their engine issues. I think the key is the maintenance. They are a brand I would avoid messing with not completing RM in a timely matter. I see so many folks on the boards claiming they do everything and still have issues. Mine had issues and I can admit I was bad about the service and should have expected issues. People take that 100,00 mile warranty as carte blanche do what they want and that will cost them.

I have a 2022 Telluride SX Nightfall edition. Best car I have owned. Problem free and most of the recalls don't apply to my VIN. The ones that did, were taken care of immediately (Allentown PA KIA). We have 3 yr old twins and with the captain chairs the family navigates it just fine. Now I have shopped other family 3 rows recently but wow for the value its hard to pass it up. With maybe the 2024 Chevy Traverse Z-71 being the only thing that comes close IMO however compared to the SX interior it looks cheap. With all that said I should say I come from the Jeep wrangler owner pool (6) so that could be why I like this SUV so much. After years riding around in Jeep wranglers the Telluride feels like a luxury car.

You said: "I haven't had this issue on my car...", that you've repeated for many items mentioned. A recall is made to prevent future possible issues. It doesn't mean that every car produced will experience these issues. Ask BMW SUV owners what their reliability rate is, not to mention the incredibly high maintenance costs, and you'll probably feel that you got a good deal with your Telluride.

I guess you’re living under a rock and have not test driven any Kia, therefore, your comment borders under the line of ignorance. Haven’t you even noticed how loud, unrefined and cheaply made Toyotas are built these days? Tundras blowing up engines, stop sales on Grand Highlanders and Lexus models, engine and drive shaft issues on new Tacomas. Honda has oil dilution issues on their turbo engines and electrical issues. The Kia Telluride drives like a luxury SUV costing twice as much, it feels German solid on the road and has an excellent quality interior. I’ve owned plenty of Hondas and Toyotas, KIA is on par on reliability and far better on interior quality and refinement.

It's a shame as I like the look of Kia's along with the drive. I had a 2016 Sorento and it was a constant drip of issues (tail lights burning out every 6 months, door handles breaking off, windshield fluid reservoir leaking, etc). For me the final straw was the oil leaking from the valve cover at 71k miles. I knew my engine was part of the big recall of engines and once I got it fixed, I sold that thing super fast. Never going back. Have a Honda now and it just drives every day without issue after 3 years/33k miles. Granted I know that's not a long term test but by that point on my Kia, I already got a warning from a cop for a burned out brake light, 2 door handles coming off and the bottom engine shield falling off while I was driving. I always took it to the dealer for the service and I was always on time for the intervals.

For all the environmental rules regarding emissions, it's hard to believe that maximum oil consumption hasn't been regulated as part of emissions warranties.
