Yes I'm having the same problem. Blew a valve cover gasket within the first week of getting it from dealer. Started out with 76,000 miles in the odometer. Added 4 quarts and drove it back to the dealer. They fixed the problem. I checked the oil level when I picked it up and when I got home just to make sure. Level was fine. 3 weeks to a month later I added 5 quarts because I was also going through the vehicle feeling like it wanted to stall and not wanting to auto- shut off. Not sure where the oil is going but I have no leaks. I think we need to file a lawsuit against hyundai because from what I've read this is a major issue with these vehicles. Spent $60 extra on this for oil and I'm now due for an oil change.

Dude, this is an absolutely great video. I had the same issue with my 2020 Palisade. Wasn’t sure what it was. I thought it had something to do with either the fuel injector as coming to a stop it would hesitate. Took it to the dealership and turns out it was just low on oil The hesitation coming to a stop and the clicking noise that I heard upon accelerating from a stop, everything stopped. What a great video. I am literally going to stay on top of my oil level every other week. Glad nothing major happened from not having oil for about a week or so.

Valvoline changed at 70k, at 73k my car sputtered the same way yours did. Added 4.5-5 qts, no warning light. Just did an oil consumption test and hyundai said ALL manufacturers go by the 1qt/1k miles rule. Which is asinine and I can't believe is true. People aren't all out there changing or adding oil every week or two. The oil consumption test also just consists of them filling it out of my sight, then in 1k miles checking the dipstick. Who knows how much it ACTUALLY burned, just, "is it close to the full line? Yeah; close enough, it's fine."

My dealership in Wichita ks used to give loaners while cars we bought new from them were in the shop... They won't even ask if we need a loaner now and never have one anyhow... Now, they rarely answer the phone... Something is going on with Hyundai and their dealerships... Long long long delays for service and parts prices are astronomical lately... I need my car for work. My wife needs her car for work and kids. I'm using my ancient Mazda 07 CX-7 I never thought I'd be driving again but kept it just in case we had another car die on us for a backup since it was cheap to insure and just park in the driveway (paid off cars are hard to just get rid of sometimes, glad I didn't) ... It's got issues too, but it still drives unlike my Palisade. Crossing my fingers it stays alive long enough to get Palisade returned to me... Dealership wants me to pay $200 to diagnose the trouble since I've got 78k miles on it... I thought it was covered for 100k since I'm there original owner... Pretty upset with this car and local dealer but whatever, just figure out why it's burning oil and if it's a manufacturer defect, which it certainly sounds like from all the other similar complaints I'm hearing, then I expect Hyundai to do the right thing and warranty it and repair these cars. I've been promoting Palisade to everyone for almost 4 years now with positivity. It's a great car otherwise. Just started having engine issues around 50-60k miles that get worse over time. Only other major complaint I have is the 2020 USB power ports in car, while very conveniently placed, only pump out 1 amp and that's not enough to charge most modern phones unless they're turned off and slowly charging... My phone actually drains slowly on long car rides we take to Colorado so I have to bring an inverter with me to plug into the round dc port to use my inverter for laptop charging 120V.. it has a set of USB charge ports too and cranks out 3 amp availability so it keeps my devices charged just fine... Basically saying the cars USB ports and inverter built in are under powered and worthless... If I could find a wiring diagram I'd just replace the electronics with my own to power the ports in the car... But otherwise, very nice car... I have limited 2020 with Napa leather, tow package and just about every feature before they came out with the calligraphy version... Love the comfort... Hate it won't charge my phones and that it's burning oil.

Fast forward and I’m coming due for regular oil change as per dealership. Palisade started making the noise again today. Stopped, checked and again, no oil left. How is a 2020 burning through oil this fast?! I’ve had nothing but issues with it. Transmission replaced at 70,000km (43,500 miles). 4 or 5 ignition coils replaced since I bought it. My wife’s 2020 Palisade had 70K miles when it started having issues. Did an oil consumption test (laughable procedure to that by the way), and found it to burn “on average” a quart every 1100 miles. However, in one of the 1000 mile intervals, it burned 1.75 quarts. Hyundai disregarded that number, and instead would just divide 3000 miles by the volume oil consumed during the test. So in roughly 5K-6K miles, her car burns every drop of oil in it….but yet the manual states you can go 10K miles between oil changes. So far, Hyundai states her vehicle is operating within the normal specs, and doesn’t want to replace the engine.

Same for us, 10k interval would mean no oil. Seems Hyundai is just weighing the cost to replace over any lawsuit. Hoping Consumer Reports will pick this up.

@@CoderMan Hyundai approved a combustion chamber cleaning…seems to have helped a little. 2100 miles on it since the cleaning and it’s not down 2 quarts like before. Another victim here. Just discovered this on our 2020 at 62k miles. First symptom was a rough idle when coming to a stop and an intermittent rattle at slow speeds. Start/stop feature hasn't worked in a while, but I never liked it anyway. Thought it might have "learned" our habit of always turning it off. I finally checked the oil and the dip stick was dry. It took 5 quarts to get back to full. Have an appointment in a couple weeks to have the dealer look at it, so thank you for documenting your experience so I know what to expect and what to ask. One thing I am struggling with is the fact that no light/warning ever appeared, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to monitor the oil pressure. Do you know of an oil pressure gauge on these? We just paid this off, so we are leaning towards keeping it a while and monitoring very close to see how it goes. We really like it otherwise.

From what I've read in the forums people mentioned the same symptoms you did, in regards to the veracruz, and the recall was due to the possibility it could stall while driving. Anyway you seem pretty mechanical as I watched your brake video first so I'm guessing you already made sure it isn't leaking somewhere as opposed to burning the oil. DYI. Data below: #1 Amsoil 5w30 OE synthetic. 0 quarts added #2-8 Mobil 1 5w30 full synthetic. 0.75 quarts mean average added between changes # 9 Amsoil 5w30 OE synthetic. 0 quarts added #10 Amsoil 5w30 OE synthetic we will see (just did it today), but plan to always use Amsoil as long as I own it. What I have learned: 1.Check oil frequently because if the oil level drops, the consumption rate will increase because the remaining oil will tend to have higher volatility - if you check your engine oil after check engine light or it is knocking you have probably already destroyed your engine. 2. Use high quality oil with a good NOACK Volatility Test (ASTM D5800) - like Amsoil. 3. Use severe service schedule (read your manual and it tells you what severe service schedule is - hint - it is almost everybody)

I TOO have this very same issue, i have a 2020 Palisade Limited with 80k I have done every single oil change myself for this very reason. Neighbor had a 2020 Kia Telluride with 22k and got her motor replace as she had her oil changes documented at the Stealership. I don't trust them. Looking at the new Toyota Sequoia...No They too have motor issues....Dam-it! Would love to know what others have done to rectify this issue.

Im having this issue. What can we do ?
@CoderMan Жыл бұрын
Currently in the process of finding out. First step if its under warranty is to go to the dealership for further info. Ask for the oil consumption evaluation. If they don't know about it, go to a new dealer.

I once changed the oil on my wife’s 2020 and a week later I checked the oil level before a trip and it showed bone dry, I thought to myself well that just can’t be since I changed it a week prior. I stopped at the store and bought a couple of quartz and through them in…pulled the dipstick and nothing. I still drove it and everything went fine. Did another oil change and drained about 5 1/2 quartz. I’m guessing the dip stick isn’t reaching oil pan for whatever reason
@Mark-rw3kw6 ай бұрын
Looks to me like the diptstick would be dry if down 1-2 quarts. The dipstick doesn't go anywhere near the bottom of the drain pan.
@CoderMan6 ай бұрын
It should get close, but won't touch the pan for obvious reasons.
@j8346011 ай бұрын
Not showing on dipstick doesnt mean totally out. Think about the fill marks meaning add a quart
@CoderMan11 ай бұрын
I imagine it had some oil left but well under the operating range. Especially if the dipstick is dry on the first pull (accounting for splashing).

My girlfriend just started having this issue. 2020 Palisade. It would shake like it wanted to stall at a stop. Then we heard a ton of rattling while driving. On way to dealership, the car stalled. She made it in but now they are giving her the runaround of coming back every 1000 miles. Its ludicrous.
@CoderMan Жыл бұрын
Same exact symptoms for us. The vehicle wants to stall, but can't because its technically still running.

If car burn engine oil try oil castrol edge synthetic 5w30 high mileage or pennzoil 5w30 synthetic high mileage oil . These 2 engine oil are best if car burns engine oil

@crazyking507 ай бұрын
By the way this is true by the time you hit 7,000 miles you will have very little oil if any, my wife’s palisade does the same thing do your oil changes every 3,000 miles or sooner sheesh . One more thing well a couple, Hyundai recommends Quaker oil and you should check your oil level when the car is a normal running temperature so turn it on until it comes to normal running temp then turn it off let it sit for 5 minutes then check it on level ground.
@CoderMan7 ай бұрын
I usually check it after a drive, like other cars.
@Mark-rw3kw6 ай бұрын
They recommend Quaker State in the USA owners manual because Hyundai has a worldwide factory fill and marketing agreement with Shell. Shell owns Quaker State and Pennzoil. The recommendation is really just a paid advertisement.

Same exact issues. Noticed oil burning off around 50k miles on my 2020 limited... I have 77800 now and it went near bone dry while doing a lot of driving in City with start stop going pretty regularly... Started hesitating on stop to idle like it was going to do the auto stop engine then restart but it kept going and eventually another out again... It finally threw a check engine code but dealership says it's for transmission and that they are aware it's burning oil but not sure why... Major recall? Who else is seeing this?

@@CoderMan but no one can seem to pinpoint the cause. Dealership refuses to start warranty work process until they know for sure their work will be covered... I had purchased an extended coverage in addition to manufacturer warranty when I bought this car new - its expired now I think and the dealership service department is just not communicating well at all nor willing to spend the time needed to really diagnose the true cause of any issue.
