I was driving home today and saw these two test mules in parking lot and wanted to share them with the channel. It is not a how-to or a DIY but I think these are some neat little vehicles and wanted to share.

I like it, I used to really like the Baja. Family life made a minivan and pickup necessary, but now I'm one of those couples who mountain bikes, camps, and soft-roads (Jeep for off-road), so this is in my radar for another vehicle for sure.

This really looks like the perfect vehicle for that usage.

Great find. I am also really looking forward to seeing the final product. I am still a little disappointed that it won't look like the concept though. It's going to have some very good performance by Hyundai equipping it with the 2.5T. That engine is very impressive.

The concept was pretty neat but in my eyes this still looks unique. Agreed, that 2.5T should really provide some serious grunt. Thanks for your comment!

We're testing out the powertrain at the proving gounds in California City/Mojave. It's a fun truck for sure 😊

Just saw an un-camo 'd Maverick today. Looks more truck like than I expect the Santa Cruz to look. Like you I'm in a holding pattern for either a Maverick or Santa Cruz whichever comes out first with a hybrid.
@80garage73 жыл бұрын
Good point on the hybrid drivetrain, I hadn't really thought about that. My two main criteria have been rear seat legroom and the ability to haul 4x8 sheet goods on occasion. I will have to factor in the hybrid drivetrain now too. Thanks for the comment!

Did you get any shots of the interior? Thanks for the vid.
@80garage73 жыл бұрын
I did not. Both cars had fabric disguising the dashboards and center consoles. I should have taken some pictures though. Next time! Thanks for watching.

@@80garage7 only the truck had camo covering the dash. The Santa Fe didn't have camo covering anything inside. But don't expect to see any more test vehicles in that parking lot again 🤣🤫

@@civicguy808 I'll assume you were driving one of those two? If so, my memory must be deceiving me, I seem to recall what looked like electronics hanging out of the Santa Fe dashboard along with cloth of some kind which obscured much of it. Thanks for chiming in.

@@80garage7 yes and it was just missing the cover for the back of the head unit so the wires were exposed.

How many feet do yall think that bed is?
@eliteenvisionary3 жыл бұрын
4.5
@80garage73 жыл бұрын
I stepped it off and if it's over 4 feet I would be surprised. They may have sloped the back of the "cab" to get some additional inches though. So between 4 and 4.5 ft is a good guess.

I agree, it has taken a long time to get to the market. I am taking that as Hyundai really wanting to get this first one right.

Overall length - how long do you think it is
@Striker50_3 жыл бұрын
Looks about the length of the Sonata
@80garage73 жыл бұрын
I am guessing, as I didn't measure, but the wheelbase looked to be nearly the same as the Santa Fe (which makes sense) but the overall car looked to be 12" or so longer? So that would put it around the length of the Telluride at 200"

I just had them park in front of my house in Big Bear CA. I have great vids on KZbin at ebike Big Bear. Rip off of the Brat and Baja. Just needs Jet Fighter pilot seats like the Brat had.

just an ordinary 2021 Santa Fe....just a hybrid drive train...

You are absolutely right, I had not see that revised front fascia and since the interior was all covered up I was thinking that this might be "new" I hope seeing the Santa Cruz was still interesting!
