Hey, where do you get that cross brace for the undercarriage of the subframe? I’m looking for one.

I own a construction company and i run 3 crews. I rarely do anything myself but about once a month i take on a small project like replacing deck boards, install a door, or rebuild a set of deck stairs. Most of what i do is carpentry/exterior renovation. I was tired of my old toolboxes and wanted a modular system. Since i rarely use it i picked up the Hart system on impulse while i was at Walmart and it has been perfect for what i needed. I've had it about 9 months and it's only seen about 8 jobs. Still looks and works like new. Glad to see it stacks up well against the competition lol

Really great vid. I need to do my 2003 Allroad subframe bushings, will go with the same ones you did. Do you think I could use 4 ramps, leave my wheels on and use my floor jack under the transmission?

I bought the Bauer system, it’s so cheap and works great. I’m gonna replace the wheels but other than that it’s just as efficient as anything out there. I love it.

OK. obviously if you 3D print you won't have this problem but what are you doing with the host cases that you are not using? I'm thinking dismantle for parts if the 2-3 cases you do use get damaged. If you do that, there will be a bunch of cases taking up otherwise valuable space for a maybe.

For those less handy, you could just put all the bins in a drawer and cut a border so they fit snug against each other. 80% of 80%

"39.5mm x 54.5mm" ... dude, the grid is supposed to be 40mm x 55mm. Harbor Freight has at least 3 different moulds at at least 2 different suppliers for these cases and there is almost zero quality control performed. What we've see over the years is that the boxes have dimensions that deviate from nominal as much as 1.5mm. Virtually all of the deep bin boxes (sold as "8-bin organizer") have grid circles too small. Originally they were using a 1 degree draft angle on the bin boxes and over the years have increased to 2 (and the more recently observed 2.5) degree draft angle to increase yield and reduce production cost (less down time from ejector pin failures and less plastic used per bin box). The result is that the taller bins "feet" no longer line up with the circles in the case bottom. That's why I think you've seen such a boom in people 3D printing their own bins/grids because the HF ones aren't very reliable... however... they is nothing more widely available and cheaper than the HF bin system (I standardized my shop on it too) and I really enjoyed watching your video. Thanks!

my 2 cents. I really like the Hart & Ridgid 2.0. The HART is great for its size! If your working on a truck or confined space the HART is unbeatable. Its just as durable for normal practical use as any other modular tool system. The Ridgid 2.0 is the best full size modular tool system p4p. Very durable, tall truck handle, best weather proof, releasing drawers this year, and removable handle AND wheels! Milwaulkie, FLEX, and KLEIN MOD BOX are for the super techies and over priced in my opinion. at 33% more cost. Ridgid also looks discreet and most professional IMHO

The Bauer looks like it's glass fiber reinforced which explains the price. The Hart is a softer less brittle plastic so it will take a lot of shock before it cracks. I just bought the Hart system and I think unless you're a contractor on job sites every day the Hart can't be beat for the price. TTI is keeping in mind that they need to make sure they don't make their budget system more appealing than their premium brand but you know in time more and more accessories will come out the more popular the Hart system becomes. And whats cool about Hart being TTI they have the engineering and customer feedback that they can put into Hart. Bauer can't compete with Hart and Milwaukee is you ask me. Also you nailed it with all these brands missing the mark on having inserts. These are just boxes at the end of the day where you're left making something on your own or digging through tools. It seems like something so simple but no one offers anything it's crazy

Late to this video, thanks for the review! Would love to go Milwaukee... they even have a coffee mug that connects! I snagged Hart for my... 2nd Amendment accessories, and have been very impressed... surprisingly so. I run Kobalt XTR and 24v for most of my projects as they just do what I need... they are blue, these cases are blue, I know this is so lame of me, however... I was expecting you to choose Milwaukee like every other video. Pleasantly surprised! Thanks again.

Bought this Flex pack out a few months ago. Used on three projects. The latches between the top box and the middle box kept hanging up or not locking. Soooo, tried to call company service to get a fix. Wasn't asking for anything but a tech to walk me through the fix(maybe a replacement latch?). First, good luck getting through, they DON"T answer their phones. After a half hour hold the message comes on offering a call back. No choice gotta grow old on the phone or give up. No call back, so the next day I try again, same deal, but this time I get a cal back. Pleasant young lady hears the problem and takes all my info and says they are sending a new replacement unit!! Of course nothing took place, NO Replacement Unit, No Latches, NO NOTHING!!!! The product seems to be well made except for these few minor issues, however I would never recommend buying a Flex product. They have no customer loyalty.

Nice video kinda made my decision more difficult lol bc I agree with opinions on Hart system & Bauer is just a bit too high. I think the Bauer boxes are quite a bit more in quality but, I wish they had 1/2 boxes! So now I almost just want to buy the Hart bc it's so cheap! If they had trays in the small boxes I would have already bought it
@nickm9102
@nickm9102 3 ай бұрын
That has an easy solution. If you have a 3D printer make your own, if not HFT has a lot of cheaper cases that you can take the trays from.

Maybe look at TSTAK/Versastack. I found some of the pieces much less expensive and there’s a fair selection of drawers/tool box/organizers and a detachable cart. Though smaller, In my tool box, they were the only option that would fit in my spaces.

Brilliant vid, I'm about to tackle the same job on my '04 Allroad. Quick question: did you use an engine support bar above or is that what the jack underneath is for? I see at some points the jack isn't actually supporting anything while the subframe is detached. Is this maybe why you're doing rears then fronts, so that one or the other can support the engine? Thanks!

Correct. At the Thingiverse link there is a .f3d file that has some driven parameters. You can choose how many units wide and how many units deep you would like it. Then the bin should update and you can generate the STL.

The only other system with an OEM wall plate is Ryobi but it isn't quite the same. I am encouraged by the Ridgid 2.0 system, it has a "wall hook" that looks like it could be used to secure it in a van or truck. I have seen it at the stores and played with it just a little but I like what I have seen so far. Maybe it's time for an update!!
