Now they caught up but did not introduce any wow factor. I don't understand the title.If there's a comparable body to the Z6 II is the R6 which are 2mo apart. Both the R6 and R5 had issues when released b/c they rushed it to market. But I guess that was forgotten. I will say this, the one screen box is slower than the actual AF. The old battery grip was for pro shooters who shoot weddings and interview style shoots. It offered you limitless battery swaps without disturbing your footage and keeping you mobile. It was Nikon version of a Camcorder at a cheaper price point. It's all in how you look at things. The 50mm 1.2 is sharper than the RF 50mm 1.2 buy who cares when both are way better than the RF and F mounts. Bruh, Nikon always had a way to do a single button press to change controls since 2005 🤦🏾♂️ before you review a camera please know how to use it 😪 If I'm not mistaken I think you can literally swap the iso to the lens control. I mean no harm but this review spotty, please use Google for things you don't know readily and reach out to the companies or other content creators, the manual, the online manual, the internal manual the help menus (press ? to see help guides)
@HyunRalphJeong4 жыл бұрын
Well, I did say it's priced better than the R6. The old battery grip may let you swap the battery while shooting but the camera still has a 30 min recording limit. Maybe no one else had a problem paying $200 for that grip but my main issue was the lack of the more proper grip with controls. Maybe I made things sound more negative than I meant to but like I said in the video, the Z6 II is a good camera for professionals. For enthusiasts, it might be better to get a used Z6 for roughly 40% less. And I do apologize about the ISO button, I've owned many Nikon DSLRs and this never occurred to me as an issue, but it was just less comfortable on the smaller mirrorless body.
@dct1244 жыл бұрын
@@HyunRalphJeong Definitely was aimed at professionals. They partnered with Atomos too so to me, Nikon's goal at the time was to make a modular cinima camera. However Nikon constantly has terrible marketing and they tend to leave it up to the people to define their cameras. Z6 Atomos Ninja V Battery Grip Directional Mic Tripod That gives you unlimited video, battery swaps without interruption and 4K 4:2:2 10 bit output in N-log. $2600 Z6 kit $600 Ninja V $200 Battery Grip $100 ($150) Tripod and Fluid head That puts a good film kit at $3500 or under $4K. That's pretty competitively priced for what you're getting and it's not doing upscaling like some cameras. I think at the time the only camera in the same price range/capabilities was the Canon EOS R Camcorders with the same output (but not full frame) cost about $5K. The real Cine cameras like the C200, the body alone is over $5K. Nikon definitely does some weird stuff but they hit the Z6 out the park. Even with a single card slot, they knew for video people would use the external recorder and I think their intention was to force users to buy the Atomos V by taking that option away. For imaging running tethered or wireless tethered replaced the 2nd card slot. Still not the brightest idea. I definitely think they made that grip for timelapse photographers as well.
@dct1244 жыл бұрын
@@HyunRalphJeong The Z6 II is great upgrade as are all these current bodies, you can't really go wrong anymore. The one thing I didn't understand about the complaints were that people couldn't comprehend the grip was mainly for video shooters b/c you can actually have issues charging via USB-C while recording vs just using the batteries.

Nice review and video. One tip on customizing the ISO control. On the Z6's and Z7's you can set the focus ring to change the ISO with the Z lenses. This is a much better way to when shooting in manual mode to change the ISO it's very smooth nothing to push or hold just turn the ring. On the cost of the S line lenses they are the same or less that Nikon's past pro lens line and in every case have tested to be better quality. So the price is fine and competitive with Canon and Sony.

As an ex owner of the A7iii and current Z6ii owner, I would say the tracking is better than A7iii and the controls are more intuitive to use. I don't care about it not having a flip out screen, but I'm glad now that if you use the till screen that the EVF is not activated , and that they added a 900 second shutter . By the the Z5 (I know we’re talking about the Z6) has a longer buffer than the D759 and it’s a good value option that has IBIS . Lastly cameras are more than just SPECS .

Honestly, Nikon has nailed it this time with the new Z6II and Z7II. The improvements are very obvious. Yes, the uodated AF msy be a tad behind the EOS R5 but it is the Z lenses, especially the S line that to me are better than Canon's RF lenses. All the S line zooms are just like many primes squeezed into one. The 50mm f1.2 in my testing is phenominal! It has surpassed the Zeiss Otus 55mm that I also tested on the same 50mm focal range. I think Nikon has taken the correct step towards their mirrorless line. Yes, they were late to the party but it's worth the wait. They will only improve more moving forward
@ghas41513 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Although AF doesn’t seem “faster” it seems to me to keep up with the subject much better. I get more sharp pupils with the Z6 II than with my Z6 even though the interface feels the same. I also find that the camera is overall just snappier than the Z6, which was already a very snappy camera. The dual processors are definitely helping with this, and I’m pretty sure that Nikon hasn’t come close to maxing the potential of the dual processors for auto focus. Just look at the improvement from firmware 1.0 to 3.0 in the previous gen. Also, that Z 50mm f1.2 S really is a phenomenal lens. I always have it strapped to one of my bodies. The most versatile focal length for what I shoot and incredible optical quality, with almost no focus breathing which makes it so good for video work too!

Hey Hyun, I'd love to get your input on this. I picked up photography again after a decade of my DSLR sitting in my wardrobe and I'm looking for an upgrade because while my EOS 60D is still not terrible for general photography and does okay shooting motorsports, I am leaning towards shooting more birds and wildlife and that's where it sucks with its old 9-point AF system, bad low-light performance and 5fps continuous shooting. I guess I would prefer to stay with an APS-C sensor for the extra reach. I know I could also very cheaply upgrade my 60D to a 7D II or 80D as well and improve the major points where my camera's really lacking and spend the money on higher quality lens and extra gear. And if I'm spending more on a new camera, I'd like to have good ergonomics, IBIS and weather sealing. What would you recommend? P.S. Looking at the Z6 II and the R6 II, I can't really find any videos comparing them. I presume the R6 II is better but currently, where I am, it's priced at almost 3000 Euros compared to 1500 Euros currently for the Z6 II (down from 2000 during spring sale).
@HyunRalphJeong Жыл бұрын
If you're looking for an APS-C sensor camera, an R7 might be a good option for you. Not sure how much it costs in Europe, but it's $1000 cheaper than the R6 II here in the U.S.

@@HyunRalphJeong Thank you for the advice. I did test an R7 in the store the day before yesterday and I liked it but it was paired with the RF 100-500 that costs around 3300 Euros here + 1500 for the camera. I ended up buying a 7D II that I found for just 250 Euros used the same day and it's a massive upgrade in terms of AF and speed from my 60D. But I tested that one on the spot with the seller's 70-200 2.8 IS II and 300mm 2.8 IS and now I can't even look at the photos that my 70-300 Sigma produces. I need a better lens. Now I wonder if I'll be content with the IQ of the 150-600mm Sigma after trying those two. 😀 I think it should be alright for shooting throughout this year until I see where bird photography takes me and whether I stick with it so it's worth getting a superior lens 2 or 3 times the price. And a more modern camera as well.

Even the Picture quality got improved. I had the Z 6 and switched to the Z 6II and I’m very happy. And don’t forget... the future Firmware-Updates will make it even better and better. One more point: In my opinion for very professional Videos you should use a Video camera. The main function is photography!!! And for this it’s - in my opinion - the best camera available right now. Look at the ergonomics, Usability, Menu-Structure. If you have one Nikon... you know the all. The street price of the Z 6II is below 2000 USD. They all have their pros and cons, but their pros are very close so their cons are magnified. Pros: Every camera today is capable of taking amazing photographs, and good video. Cons: Nikon- No flippy screen, clunky FTZ adapter, way behind on video autofocus. Sony- Menus systems that could be used for torture devices, ergonomics. Canon- Overpriced bodies(R5 R6) and lenses(RF), can't stand the shutter, aperture, and on and off dial locations compared to Nikon. I will probably get a used Z6 if I can find one with an adapter for under $1000 just so if I fully switch I can say I tried. Thanks John🍻

I respectfully disagree, the Z lenses are better than most F-lenses. It is sharper edge to edge, autofocus motors are quieter. It is brighter too because of more light coming in with the bigger mount. Aberrations were minimized because of the shorter flange distance. The VR are better as well with combination of the body’s IBIS. Nikon bet on the optics/hardware design side of the mirror-less game. Subject tracking/AF are software related updates that I think is easier to improve with firmware.

I find it quite funny when Sony and Canon fanboys complain that the F and Z mounts are "backwards" being that the F mount came first by over 50 and 30 years respectively. People would argue that sony and canon are the ones who are backwards in That regard. With the FTZ adapter and the Z lenses would obviously also mount the same way as the F to keep user consistency with all native lenses dating back to 1957. Why change mount direction now? just to appease Canon and Sony users? LOL, that is ridiculous and design suicide. Unless you are used to only one brand, this is a non issue and a weak talking point on all these review channels and I wish it would stop being such a thing. Modern Z and D bodies ergonomics are also uniform so that if you are a current Nikon DSLR user, moving to the Z bodies is seamless unlike the other brands who change up their ergos with every single release.

@@frankluo230 has SnapBridge been improved recently? It gets the job done and I don’t have problems with it.

@@lilnape2604 even Pentax imaging app is better than snapbridge on Android. Leave it on all the time, the ram usage is absurd and battery drain is off the scale. Usable but not what you wanted from a "billion dollar investment bank group backed imaging giant company".

An overall vibe of “it’s the same camera” makes it an amateur review.

Lot of bullshit, not a review!!! Expensive Z lenses? Compared to WHAT, Canon??!
@ghas41514 жыл бұрын
People are making the mistake of comparing these to the old F mount f1.8 lenses. Those were cheaper lenses, with cheap build quality and poor performance wide open. These new Z f1.8 S lenses cannot be compared. The clue is in the S moniker. These are pro standard lenses with pro build quality and excellent performance wide open. An excellent option for a working professional who doesn’t need f1.4/f1.2 and would prefer saving money, size and weight as you’re not giving anything up with optical performance. Wait for the non-S lenses if you want something cheaper.
