The best part about OMM is that rarely do any of these fights constitute one character killing another and, in the case of two good-aligned characters fighting, they often question why they're fighting in the first place and make up by the end of it. Unlike DB, it manages to keep everyone in line with who they are and how they act in their respective universes, rather than changing who they are to get some carnage out of a fight. And about this fight in particular, it's no surprise that Piccolo lost. J'onn is, as many people so often forget, as strong as Superman. A+ battle, I like it.

OMM has the advantage of not being bound to Death Battles rules (mainly, that someone has to die). Death Battle has the advantage of analysis to justify their decisions, but OMM is able to keep the combatants in-character while still providing a satisfying fight. (Most of the time. Some of their fights are a little too one-sided to be that entertaining.)

Power scaling in general is pretty dumb because comics don't convey much and most of what characters say is just bullshit. Yet DB takes it seriously. So, by all accounts, Death Battle is just a weaker OMM because their fights are kinda hit or miss with how much they change the animation.

@@maxord11 I agree with you that some of Death Battle's fights have been poorly researched. Take the Sonic vs. Mario rematch or Ben 10 vs. Green Lantern. In both cases, a more accurate analysis of the combatants' abilities would have resulted in a different outcome. My point was that they at least present their reasoning for why they think somebody would win over somebody else. Whether or not you agree with their analysis is another matter. And for the record, I do prefer One Minute Melee.

That's because the adaptations always make MMH out to be a chump. New 52 MMH stalemated the New 52 Justice League (and New 52 MMH was weaker than Post-Crisis MMH, who is the current canon MMH). Post-Crisis J'onn held his own against a bloodlusted Superman (for a time), beat Ultraman with ease (without telepathy) and when amped into Fernus stomped the Justice League three times, and killed between dozens to hundreds (the number of White Martians in the Phantom Zone is inconsistent) White Martians at once.

even if the Fenrus bit of J'onzz is no longer canon, he is still strong enough to the point even superman once said J'onn was stronger Weakness to fire aside (apparently that wekness is both physical and mental one). The only place he is currently receiving respect is in Supergirl. and ocasionally Justice League action. Apart of that he is like MIO/dissappeared form the whole DC UNIVERSE. He as only make one appearance in the non canon looney tunes one shot crossovers, and his suit made a cameo in the button, but since his limited series ended before the end of New 52, and apart of that one shot, NOTHING. Even the TMNT are appearing more in the DC Universe than J'onn this days

Ian R. Nava Huber That actually hit me where I live. I mean, J'onn is not my all-time favorite character, but I do have a lot of appreciation for the guy. Martian Manhunter is basically Superman (flying brick) mixed with Batman (detective). If there's a character in DC who gets to embody the entire Brave and bold theme, that's J'onn. Specially in team books, where he adds the 'team dad' element for synergy. All in all, Martian Manhunter is a compelling character with a lot of individual and group value. Still annoyed they basically kicked him out of the League's origins. Thankfully, now he appeared in Metal, he will get some exposure.

Honestly, I'm glad this ended with martian manhunter winning. As a huge dbz fan, piccolo is no where near as strong as some of the DC characters. Heck, even goku isn't. And with Martian being on a similar level as superman, no wonder piccolo lost. But the comedy in this is amazing, and the truce between piccolo and Martian at the end is very satisfying. If this were screwattack however, they would have messed this up so badly with dbz fans being butthurt, and the whole community raging. But this ending was bittersweet 😊

@Irfan Alddin while I do agree its arguable on the physical side, MM still has some broke psychic abilities, as he was able to mind control a bunch of white martians (who also have psychic powers) and was able to deactivate the mind of a god who was just as old and powerful as Dr Fate, so basically, M could control Piccolos mind, deactivate his brain, or just put him into an illusion, he can also manipulate his own density, allowing him to phase through almost anything, or become dense enough to take hits from darkseid, he also regenerated his whole body from just his arm, and if I remember correctly, piccolo cant even regenerate if his head was destroyed. Listen, I'm very aware that everything you do is for attention, and that you have a strong bias towards piccolo, so dont go crying when I dont give you the attention that you want.

Nah, MMH is fast enough to punch barrey allen in the face. Barrey can react to something in the time it takes light to jump across two hydrogen attoms (can't remember if that's it or not, but something like that). Piccolo is nowhere near as fast as Manhunter.

Post-Crises Martian Mahunter is on Par with Post-Crises Superman, who Screw Attack used the feats of for their videos... though, yeah, their second video is full of bullshit and the fight between Superman and Goku in their first video should have been a lot more neck and neck once Goku went to Super Saiyan 3 and 4 than it was portrayed as being since both characters at that point are legit Star Level beings. Martian Manhunter also has far more advanced shape shifting capability and regen and has far greater feats of telepathy, so, even if Piccolo was star level by this point, John has enough body hax and mind hax to wind the day. I'll take keeping Vishnu asleep from destroying the universe and the multiverse than any feat of telepathy Piccolo has shown or been able to resist... at least pre DBS, but that's another argument for another day.

Honestly this is such a curbstomp for Martian Manhunter. MM has been shown to be able to control several White Martians (beings that also have telepathy) at once and has even affected the mind of the God like, old as the universe itself Doctor Fate. He could just mind control Piccolo, brain blast him, trap him inside an illusion or shut down his mind right off the bat. Not to mention he can turn invisible, control his density to either become intangible or super dense and invulnerable, regenerate from an arm, can shapeshift any way he pleases (altering size, shape, stretch, grow extra limbs, turn limbs into bladed weapons, etc.), and has strength and speed comparable to Superman, he even helped Superman and Wonder Woman move the entire planet earth. Piccolo would stand no chance at all.

DC has a long history with characters who used the name "Manhunter," in one form or another, all of whom have been "good guys." The term itself dates itself back to bounty hunters, and came to be synonymous with the word "detective." DC's first Manhunter was a plainclothes private detective named Paul Kirk, who was just one of several private detectives in 'Detective Comics' when Batman was introduced. Kirk was forcibly retired. Interestingly, the next star of a strip called Manhunter was also named Paul Kirk, but he was a big game hunter and wasn't meant to be the same Paul Kirk. A friend of Kirk's was murdered by a costumed villain who called himself the Buzzard, and Kirk put on a costume of his own and used his hunting prowess to find and capture the Buzzard. Naturally, Kirk called himself Manhunter, and the series used a tag line: "Manhunter, he hunts the most dangerous game of all... criminals." At about the same time DC introduced their second Manhunter character, Quality comics also introduced a character of their own, Dan Richards, who was a beat cop and who would sometimes put on a costume and call himself (you guessed it) Manhunter. DC's second Manhunter only lasted about four years, but Quality's Manhunter was around for a little over seven years. For a few years, DC didn't have a character who used the Manhunter name, but in the early 50s they tried to drum up some interest in a detective series called "Manhunters of the World," but which didn't catch on. Detective comics retired a couple of their characters in late 1954/early 1955 and decided to try combining two genres to fill a six page gap and combined science-fiction with the detective/crime genre and came up with a series titled (initially) 'John Jones, Manhunter from Mars'. That series featured a Martian (J'onn J'onzz) who was accidentally teleported from Mars to Earth and who became stranded on Earth. Dismayed to discover that Earth was rife with crime, J'onzz used his ability to metamorphize his body so that he appeared to be a human, and after creating the identity of a John Jones, he became a police detective and solved crimes secretly using his alien abilities (the Martian Manhunter, as he eventually came to be known, kept his existance a secret and spent a good deal of his time fighting crime while he was invisible). In either late 1958 or early 1959, the 'John Jones, Manhunter from Mars' series was given a couple of extra pages, J'onn lost the ability to use any of his other powers while he was invisible and started operating openly as a non-human super-heroic character; the name of the series was also changed to "Martian Manhunter." DC went on to create four other heroes and one heroine who used the name Manhunter, but that doesn't really have much to do with the Martian Manhunter.
