Also, the boxers in Punch out all do wide swings that everyone can see from a mile away. Ippo can at least handle a middleweight, and usually wins by early-round KOs. I think after watching how Ippo fights in his actual show and games and how Little Mac has Fought in all his games, i honestly think Little Mac could beat Ippo. He can take punches from Mr.Sandman who i will also mention, destroyed an apartment building with his bare hand punches. Mac can take and Dish out lots of pain. Ippo is no pushover either. His fighting Spirit is nearly unrivaled by the people he fights, but the deciding factor in my judgement would he their fighting division. Little Mac K.O.s HeavyWeight boxers and just like Ippo, he himself is a Feather weight. Ippo can handle Normal Weight boxers...barely.

The fighting in Hajime no Ippo is actually very realistic, whereas Little Mac is a videogame hero. The only unrealistic thing about Ippo is the slow speed; a single bout can take a 23-minute episode! But every technique shown in Ippo is real, the training is mostly real (except fighting bears and all, y'know), and the fights are nearly real too.

I was not disappointed by the animation of the Dempsey Roll. And it looks like Little Mac has been taking lessons from Ken Masters. I love Ippo, but he is only beginning to fight on the world stage. I think Little Mac takes this one away. In any case, given the nature of this battle, I think someone like Mashiba would have been better suited to fight Little Mac. He cannot take hits nearly as well as Ippo, but he is not afraid to fight a little dirty either.

These are assuming the fighters are a 12-round card. Running solely by the numbers regarding each fighter's specs (weight, height, reach) Ippo would be considered by some to come out on top. Based solely on the fighting styles of each boxer, some would say Little Mac would win. In reality, it would be a really tough call to make. Makunouchi Ippo adopts the style of Mike Tyson and Cus D'amato (Peek-a-Boo Guard; in-fighting; combinations of shoulder feints compact, small punches and short uppercuts and (small spoiler) utilizes the Gazelle Punch (a hook thrown at an angle from below, driven upward with full weight) as *gap-closing approach*. His punches are compared to heavy-weight punches in the show/manga, and he sits in the Feather Weight Class. Little Mac is a mix between a Slugger, Outboxer, and a Counter Puncher, depending on how players utilize his abilities. In the Punch Out series, he is depicted as a Swarming Counter Puncher, swiftly dodging his foes and countering with flurries of punches. If the player feels confident enough, Mac can also through heavy counter punches before an attack even comes out. However, in Smash Bros., Mac is depicted as a Slugger, with big swings and heavy hits, powering through enemy attacks if he gets caught in them. His stats put him in the Junior Flyweight Division. But because he is a Video Game Protagonist, he is also depicted fighting Boxers who vastly outweigh him. The issue with this is that his weight remains the same throughout the game, so no matter who he fights, at the end of the day, he is still a Flyweight. In regards to the damage these two can dish out, it's not necessarily a difficult comparison to make, *if they were in our world.* Makunouchi Ippo is easier to compare to real life Boxing because the Writer of his Story based *everything* he wrote/drew on irl Boxing History. Little Mac is a bit harder to judge due to the cartoonish nature of his foes. If you were to use the Nintendo Wii Incarnation of Little Mac and Sandman, Little Mac's Punching Power would be on par with Ippo's. Let me explain. Makunouchi generates power from full-body engagement in every punch he throws. Because of his fighting style, most Punches would normally be smothered or difficult to throw, so in order to really generate power in a short upper or a compact hook, Makunouchi starts his punches from the toes and follows through. From toe to hip and hip to torso, he drives his punches with his entire body, whereas most Boxers habitually use only their upper body. Little Mac's punching power comes from how often he punches as well as *when* he punches. Most of his counters utilize his opponent's weight and commitment to a power punch as fuel for most of the damage; the rest comes from his impeccable timing and putting his weight behind each counter punch. The Counter stunning his opponent is what does most of the immediate damage, and the follow-up barrages that he throws accumulate damage. Ippo doesn't punch often, but when he lands, *it hurts.* Mac times his shots and then pummels his target to build up lasting damage. The issue now is survivability. A lot of people say that Little Mac is much tougher than Makunouchi Ippo. This isn't entirely true. The common argument is that Little Mac fights Boxers in much higher weight classes, higher than even Ippo or Takamura (Heavyweight). The issue with this claim is that, as proven by the games, Mac can only withstand about six or seven good power punches at the *most* before going down in the older games. In the Wii version of Punch Out, Mac takes four haymaker hits from Sandman or Super Macho Man and goes down. When he goes down, he goes down *hard*. He lands flat on the mat, arms outstretched, head down, and feet relaxed against the floor. He then struggles to stand up and uses the ropes to stand. Makunouchi has fought boxers whose punches are compared to Welterweights, Middleweights and Heavyweights despite only being in the Featherweight class. When in a bout, he constantly takes punishment, guard or no guard, and stays standing. In some cases, he takes lethal combinations followed up by barrages and staggers, but does not fall. While detrimental to overall life expectancy, this is proof that his resilience is quite high and his concentration isn't something to laugh at. Going by Boxing Theories and analyzing the two fighters side by side inevitably places Mac in the Victor's Circle. I personally love both fighters, but I am a bigger fan of Ippo, so you cannot say that I am playing favorites. Honestly, I love both boxers. This fight is a tough call to make, and that's why I love the match-up. It really is anyone's game.

if it was a real death battle, both of them seem to have high abilities in boxing and have excellent movement. ippo has an upper hand with the roll and the gazelle punch to make use of fighter's errors with guarding to early or leaving them self open, but little mac is all about a higher endurance, hard reading flinches or blind throws and FREAKING EPIC punches that send people flying. little mac has beaten men the size of hippos, monoliths of muscle, genies, scientifically engineered russians and freaking mike tyson. ippo only fights normal opponents of a crazy amount of skill. little mac can be defeated with being knocked out but ippo will not stop fighting even when he IS unconcious. he doesnt stop untill his body cant pick him up from being k.o'd. but then again, little mac can be just as determined. as seen in the wii version of punchout, little mac can catch himself before he falls on the canvas and keep on fighting with that one burst of determination. and this isnt even counting giga mac. i think a death battle might be in favor of little mac, but i could be wrong
