Except price on taran tactical. 44 fucking dollars for a base plate.

i have the Taran Tactical +2 and i had no problem getting 8 in the first time. i was thinking about trying one of these Hyves out but as soon as i saw that you have to cut the tabs off the bottom i was completely turned off by these. i feel i shouldn't have to cut anything off just in case i want to put everything back to factory. just my 2 cents
@asianky1e309 жыл бұрын
+SneakerFreak777 That's a VERY fair point. I wish i didn't have to cut the tab off either. I guess for me it just isn't a deal breaker. I doubt i'll eve put the factory base back on these. I have 4 mags for that reason. 2 that came with the flat i replaced with these. Somebody on my IG asked what i would do if i had feeding issues later down the road and IF that happens i'll reach out to Hyve, or i'll just put the TTI +10% spring in. You can get 7 rounds no problem with that! Thanks for the input though! I would recommend getting just one to try it out though.

Hadn't even heard of these until this video - thanks. Think I'd go for the matt black in both the magazine extension and the rear slide plate cover though.

+David Giles If you've got an Instagram, I'm giving away a +1 until next Friday! This product is great though, stay tuned for the review of the +1 coming soon and then following that the summary of these base plates.

Just ordered 2 plus 2 baseplates. And agree with them looking better than the taran tactical ones.

Do you need to re-use the factory base plate inside the mag? Some people leave it out ,others put it in
@asianky1e308 жыл бұрын
I have left them in for all of them. had had zero issues with the +1, and only the two ftf on last round with the +2. But on my other +2 there were no issues at all, again the plastic plate left inside the new baseplate.

Why do they engineer something that requires you to destroy part of the magazine to install it? I suppose there has to be a reason. Try the Strike Industries +2. Looks way nicer, cheaper, and no need to do surgery on your magazine.
@KevinSchaefer718 жыл бұрын
I can't understand why these companies make baseplates that require you to trim off the retention tabs on the magazine. Also, having to try and jam a screwdriver between the baseplate and magazine to get it back off is even worse.
@asianky1e308 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Schaefer Its understandable. I think that the entire mag design is poor in my opinion. Especially compared to an M&P mag.

+Kevin Schaefer If you follow them on Instagram, they are doing something with their g27 baseplates. Totally remedies this issue we all have with the extensions!

Every +1 or +2 round Glock 43 magazine modification currently in the market has FTF issues with the last round not being fully pushed up into place in time as the slide cycles forward after firing/ejecting the previous round. The FTF is a timing issue since the magazine springs are no longer calibrated for the extra length of the magazine. The last round FTF loading timing issue is very sporadic in occurrence, thus it can be hard to see repetition of this failure using live ammo. The FTF will never happen when a person manually racks the slide. Hopefully someone will manufacturer a properly timed magazine spring for these mods as I would love to carry a higher capacity Glock 43 magazine as my backup magazine.

+TechSkills agreed! Until then though, these are pretty stinking great.

TechSkills polish your feed ramp
@Real_Tech_Skills8 жыл бұрын
It wasn't a feed ramp issue for the models that myself and friends have tested. It was a timing issue with the last round in the magazine being lifted properly into place for the slide to insert into the chamber. In our testing, we never had this issue with the factory Glock magazines (same guns, same ammo, only difference was the factory magazines versus modified magazines). Our testing showed an extremely low % of failures (less than 1%), but that was still enough that would cause me to not use for my self defense purposes. Please know that it has been almost a year since we tested any of the latest versions, thus that information could be out of date at this point in time.

Solid feedback! Like I've said in the other videos since, I have not had any more issues since the initial 2. Its pretty unexplainable as to why just those two. I have enough confidence in them to carry them in my gun as as my backup in the holster.

what about plus zero, because i really just want the extra grip
@frosty04198 жыл бұрын
You would be better off spending money on sights. Failure to feed? Glocks run. Mag extension with factory spring probably problem. Reliability is more important than 2 extra rounds.
@asianky1e308 жыл бұрын
All guns have failures at some point. Even the 19 did. But signs are a go now!
@asianky1e308 жыл бұрын
Keep using em, you'll get one eventually. Even on the famed Glock 19 still had a FTF. Its a mechanical device. they always fail some time.

it's heavy and I could not get 8 in the magazine
@asianky1e309 жыл бұрын
+mike wagner Thats very odd. My second one i could only get 7 in and then i realized that the internal part you have to drop in was not seated all the way. Once i got that part seated i could get all the rounds in with no issue. Im willing to bet that is your issue...

For some reason I think the blue baseplates look great, but the slide plate looks awful. Glad you like it. Thanks for the video!
@asianky1e309 жыл бұрын
+J0sh92 Meh, it was free so i dont mind too much. I was worried about it being distracting away from the front sight. But its not too bad actually!
@cailiqingsheng8 жыл бұрын
hey, why did you say the slide plate look awful? the color or what?
@J0sh928 жыл бұрын
I'm really not sure. At 10:06 it really stands out as gaudy to me. It sort of reminds me of a car with one door a different color, whereas the magazines are more like a car that has a different color trim all the way around it. Again, if you like it then that's fine by me, I'm not trying to talk anyone out of something they enjoy.
@cailiqingsheng8 жыл бұрын
J0sh92 makes sense I guess it's more like because the blue does not go well with black. If it is a red slide plate it is not bad looking at all

@asiankyle what kind of grip tape are you using
@asianky1e308 жыл бұрын
SimpleMan_90 Talon rubberized. Honestly I'd go A-grip instead. The Talon is okay but it doesn't "stick" to your hands like some claim. In the winter when your hands are cold it's pretty useless. Only amazing when you're that perfect Lukewarm when shooting which is basically never

I want to amend my statement. These grips are okay. But honestly nothing will substitute a good stipple job. These work great when your hands are warm but as soon as winter comes and they are cooler it's still like holding onto a bar of soap.
