I have owned the Glock 43, the Ruger LC9 S Pro, and the M&P Shield...all in 9mm and all at the same time. I got to do a lot of shooting and comparing of all three. I installed a Taran Tactical +2 extension on the G43. Also + extensions on the other two. After much shooting of all three pistols, I determined that I could shoot all of them just about equally well. Maybe giving a slight accuracy advantage to the Shield. But only slightly. The "feel" advantage went to the Glock 43. Also, I had Talon grips on all three. I sold the Shield and the Ruger and my EDC is the Glock 43, because of the feel factor. It just fits my hand the best and is the most comfortable. I am comfortable with 9 rounds too. I have carried the 43 the longest of any pistol I have ever carried and I feel that it will be my last EDC pistol. All of the mods are, 3.5 Ghost trigger bar, Glock night sights on the rear and a Big Dot on the front, Talon Grips, and a Taran Tactical +2 extension. I load it with Ruger Polycase +P rounds, which are very bad (1400 fps,) non hollow point ammo. I carry it in a leather Galco holster. I feel that the 43 is the ultimate small 9mm pistol for concealed carry. Just my opinion.

I find Hickok45 reviews to be timely, accurate ( well mostly anyway) , and fun to watch. I watch them over and over. I'm a combat shooter and my weapon of choice is Glock. I prefer the 10mm. But in warm weather it's a lot easier to carry a Glock 43. For all things there is a season. Lots of folks review firearms and firearm products. I trust Hickok45. I've found his information to be pretty darn complete. I appreciate his expertise and all the time he devotes to getting it out here. Thanks.

Rozmic Great point. It didn't take much to get another round.
@Thejoeb9 жыл бұрын
Rozmic I agree, makes no sense why this wouldnt have been standard capacity. They would have sold even more guns as it would match up better and not fall short of the S&W in any category. I dont appreciate having to buy and swap out baseplates on every mag I buy.
@Rozmic9 жыл бұрын
Thejoeb I think 6 would have been fine as long as it was small enough to justify it. Large (compared to other 6+1s) and low capacity is an odd design choice though.
@SynchronizorVideos9 жыл бұрын
Rozmic What's wrong with it being an option? It's not much, but the +1 does make the gun a little bigger, so there's a trade-off. I'd rather be able to choose from flush 6-, slightly-extended 7-, and significantly-extended 8-round magazine configurations than be stuck with the mid-sized 7-round as the minimum.

I also carry the Taran +2 and lighter trigger connector. I know a point and shoot shouldn't need it, but I like the feel and typically use the gun for the range also. Great guns amazing the amount of hits on target. I did have the same problem with the trigger catching me and sanded it a touch with 600 grit its now fine. Never a failure or problem to date with this gun I shoot it frequently. I did however notice on Taran tacticals website they now offer power springs for the 2+. They also say no need to purchase the additional spring as the 2+ comes with it. I didn't get any springs when I ordered mine last year. Hickok 45, I really enjoy the high quality these videos are now in. Good stuff you do for us!

The 43 is the smallest 9mm Glock available up to this days, in my opinion is the best Glock for EDC, pocket carry or even as a backup gun punching the 9mm ballistics and power and increasing capacity when you want the 43x is nice to but is technically the 43 with large grip and you cant make a long grip shorter, the 43 is more versatile.

Thanks for all the great videos! Here's a suggestion for something different. Perhaps you could do a "behind the scenes" video that shows how you plan, organize, setup, record, and edit (if ever) your videos. I'm curious how John manages to make such smooth and steady pans and zooms, etc., as well as whether you attempt to script any of your presentation. So perhaps you could come up with an extra camera operator to capture the two of you at work. I'm glad you seem to enjoy yourselves. That's part of the fun of watching. Thanks for sharing your target rich environment with us. I'm always watching for the next video to come out.

Good opening demonstration about the magazine, Hickok45. The Glock43 has enough ammo for the expectations of most people. The extensions with more ammo are just a bonus. .... But, there are people that work-travel in dangerous places, that need more ammunition (such as a drum magazine). The perilous times we live in, necessitate good reliable guns. Hickok45 is right. The more innovations and guns, on the market, the better it is for all of us.

@porkchopspapi57578 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan Mcmuffin. did you find the aftermarket trigger increased the pull length, or made it spongy ?
@jonathanmcdonald58538 жыл бұрын
It decreased the pull length alot and I haven't felt it to be spongy, but they could all be a little different. I may switch back to compare after shooting it 6 months. I did have to get used to the shorter, lighter pull. If you like a longer pull, I would not use the ghost trigger.
@porkchopspapi57578 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I tried the ghost trg. several years ago and found while it did lighten the pull, it increased the length and made it spongy. Maybe they somehow eliminated that issue. But I have to wonder how.

@JayWandersOut9 жыл бұрын
SpaceGhost1984 or at least have one 6 round and include a 7 or 8 round as well. Carry with the 6 round and have the 8 round as a backup. Really weird choice they made with two 6 rounders but then again they're Glock. They do whatever they want and people will buy their guns.
@Aleks9x199 жыл бұрын
You think aftermarket companies have a say? I wouldn't be surprised
@SynchronizorVideos9 жыл бұрын
SpaceGhost1984 I'm sure they knew that aftermarket companies would come out with extensions almost immediately. This way, you can still have a 7-round magazine if you want, but there's also the option of a flush 6-round when concealibility is more important than capacity.
@JayWandersOut9 жыл бұрын
***** But then why still sell it with two 6 rounders instead of one 6 and one 8?
@SynchronizorVideos9 жыл бұрын
JayXX For one thing, these extensions are aftermarket parts. Glock isn't going to put them on their guns at the factory. But also, this is a carry gun that's designed for compactness. Though you may not find them talking about it on the internet much, I would bet money that a large number of the folks who buy Glock 43s - probably a majority of them - are going to be just fine with the 6-round magazine capacity. If conceal-ability wasn't the fore-most priority, they'd likely be buying a Glock 26 or 19 instead.

The only thing I will say against it is that you need to be very sure you securely seat your magazine. It's more prone to only "halfway" clicking into the mag well than a stock magazine, if you understand what I mean.

The Corso "Magguts" extension is available now for the Glock 43 too. It lets you keep the same stock mag baseplates but changes out the spring and follower to let you squeeze in one more round (so seven rounds in an otherwise stock mag). Some people think it's a little hinky, because the spring is a Z-shaped leaf spring as opposed to the stock coil-type spring, but I've run a few hundred rounds through one so far with no trouble, and that mag +1 in the Glock and one extra mag with a Taran tactical +2 baseplate (so 16 rounds total) is my EDC right now.

why do people worry about this printing thing ?? the way I look at I guess is if your ALLOWED to carry it and just hide it why worry about printing??RIGHT??
@hickok458 жыл бұрын
Yep, nothing illegal about "printing" in Tennessee; you can carry "Open" if you want.

Roberto Wootton Just unnecessary attention. People don't like guns, just respect their opinion. Carry on but no point in people needing to know. It printing I suppose isn't too bad, Open carry is the unnecessary attention.

In my state it is easy to get a BOP charge because of someone spotting what they "believe" is a gun. Honestly, ya gotta be stealthy to keep clear of incindents.

For me "late to the game" means that I've already purchased a 9mm Shield. I have to make my purchases carefully and cannot afford to buy the latest thing on the market. I've made my choice and spent my money and there is no more to spend. Sorry Glock. If you had been around when Ruger was adding striker fire triggers and Sheild was eliminating external safety's you definitely would have made my short list of possibles but... you were late to the game.
@hickok459 жыл бұрын
Homebrew58 In that sense, you are correct, at least for you. Same thing for Ruger and the 1911s they finally came out with, or the Sig P320 line-up and the HK VP9. All were late to the game for anybody who had already purchased a striker fired pistol or a 1911. You are correct.

hickok45 I agree with your opinion, because Glock does not introduce on demand, they introduce when a pistol is a proven tool for production to the general public, law enforcement, and military. Not saying things need to be modified and improved on after introduction, which has surfaced numerous times, as seen in the Glock 42 just recently. When Glock introduced the Glock 17 was this a rush to production? No, indirectly, but because the Austrian Army requesting a new service pistol in a certain time frame, Glock did introduce something that was never seen before in the world of handguns. Now, saying this, why must Glock constantly be ridiculed that they were late to market with the anticipated 9mm single stack Glock 43? This was their time to introduce it, and not any other time. The American demand and the other true fans of Glock wanted this to be introduced earlier, but they are not the ones making and producing it, it is Glock, the "True and Mighty", remember that, otherwise you would not be depending on it to protect you and your family, like millions of others do. Correct? When I was in business many years ago, I used to tell my prospective customers to see all other sales persons first, and then I'll see you last. This way the customers learned and were educated on the item I was hoping to sell, and had in their minds what they sort of wanted. All I had to do was see what was offered, show how I improved on it and most of all sell it for less, or at least at a comparable price. Most of all I sold my self, and we all agree that Glock has sold themselves to each and every one of us, many times over, especially when buying additional Glocks to add to our collection...Mark my words: Homebrew58 will purchase a Glock 43 in the near future, sooner than later, or when they're more readily available. Because of the high demand for ownership of the most reliable, simple to use and service, and most of all trustworthy pistol manufactured to date, I don't own a Glock 43 as of yet. But, I took a number from the automatic dispensing machine at the Deli/ Bakery Department at my local gun store, and when my number is called, after waiting in line, I will most happily step forward and purchase one for me as well as my wife, along with a side of potato salad...

Been carrying a G43 for several years now with the Newer Version of the Taran Tactical Plus 2 Extension. It's a slightly different contour and not quite as "bulky" and fits the grip contour a little better. I have larger hands so the little extra grip feels better and gives me the 8 + 1 capacity. It also comes with a slightly longer spring now. I carry the Federal 124 gr HST +P as my carry load and Hornady Critical Defense as my Secondary choice. They both shoot like a laser in this little pistol.

Hickok45: There is nothing better than while being at home and re-cooping from surgery, than is to watch a video on Glocks and watch you shoot them. Except maybe for loading my 31 plus round 9mm extended Glock magazine, and stepping outside my back door and shooting it. Oh, how blessed I am! Yes, I do remember those many many years I had to drive to a shooting range,in order to shoot. Unrestricted land in TN is so WONDERFUL!!!

Just got a 43, can'y wait to try it out. I also ordered to the pierce grip 1 round extensions. I did a little research and found four manufactures of mag extensions for the G43. read a little in the forums and all seem to work pretty well. I imagine Glock will come out with some extended factory mag's. Can you imagine a 30 rd, clip LOL. Really think one rd. ext, makes almost no difference in concealing the pistol and i like the pink'y rest. Since you and John are both getting one they must be OK.

I think the same thing glad to see I'm not the only one. But I didn't abandon Kahr completely I still have my Kahr P380 unless Glock starts making a .380 that small. Thanks for the videos on the 43 it help me decide.

Taran Tactical has an upgraded spring that they now sell. They can send out a stiffer spring for the +1 and +2 mags. I don't think it's necessary in the plus1 because it's very stiff, but I love it in the +2. Call them, they have great customer service.

Thanks for another great video. Purchased a Sig P938, beautiful weapon, but haven't fired it yet. If I had waited a little longer would have gone with the Glock, I'm a big believer in them. Love them for their simplicity and reliability. Guess I will put this sig through it's paces, if it hiccups on me, I will unload it and pick up the Glock. Enjoy all of your videos, thanks for keeping it real!

I now own the Glock 42 & 43 I love them both, I'm a small frame guy so I now use the 42 as my summer carry and the 43 will be my cooler weather carry. I will admit I was a glock hater till I bought my 42 now I am a glock lover. Thank you once again.
