I think that would have been awesome if the buildings had accessible doorways that lead to the sand underneath. They'd actually appear to interact with the environment rather than walking all over it. Maybe some plants and water like a paludarium. Nonetheless it was fun and an awesome idea.

Maybe now could have 3D printers on 24/7 making larger parts to print on the backburner, it would look amazing having done it all with consistant quality paint job and print quality but it would be museum worthy. Have 3D printers and uni lecturers have no concept of 3D printing for masterplans/scale models. There are 3D printers with amazing quality and even uses multiple colours and effects. I got a 3D printer filiment where it has MDF/wood fibres in it and smells/can be cut like wood. There are even 3D printable metal but it would depend on how much one or group would pay to making such a huge model. Playing GTA 5 even on flying bike it takes ages to move across the map and even longer with slow vehicles. Maybe could 3D print parts and spraypaint sections but would still take years to detail it all out. When it becomes so huge its hard to see over it like at architecture bienalle shows (model could be 10mx10m or any size) but the larger the model the less detailed it is. Having world leading 3D printer with say 10+ changeable type filiments Im sure that would be the quickest but most expensive way. Such a shame that the short timeframe Jay Gave himself maybe reduced the quality and was not best quality and if this project ws spread over months/years I'm sure they could of done a pretty perfect job, maybe someone could come back and redo a better one or not time will tell. 1 thing this video shows though is that the collective community made this crazy idea possible, some faith in humanity restored.
