That's some smooth driving. In all the years I worked and commuted in the KC Metro area, I don't remember such light traffic on 70 during the daytime. Chiefs playing that day, maybe?

A nice steady traveling speed video of I-70 in Kansas City, MO area. Not too slow or too fast.

Exit 9, home to two of the best places in the world, Arrowhead Stadium, and Kauffman Stadium!

Advisory: I-70 will be widened to six lanes between MO 7 (where this starts) east to Wentzville, starting in 2024, and the US 40-61/I-64-70 interchange is to be rebuilt by 2027. Still getting used to US 24 being on the interstate; it went straight west on Independence to the L&C Viaduct forever. Where the tight curves are is where there was supposed to be an inner belt (I-770), but it got NIMBY'd 60 years ago. And technically, it is the Kansas Turnpike west from 18th in KCK, though it is free now out to K-7 at Bonner Springs.

One day, you should make it to Seattle. It's beautiful.

With those 2 slow curves on I-70 in MO, were there supposed to be freeways that got "killed"?
@MoparFan987 Жыл бұрын
what timestamps were they at?
@bullinmd Жыл бұрын
Around 10:45 for the first slow curve. The second curve is shortly after. Both curves have sign bridges warning of speed.

Thank you and also you are right since there appears to be some sort of asphalt near the left side indicating a ghost ramp at 11:02@@bullinmd

Supposed to be an inner belt. NIMBY'd years ago.

@rjmcallister1888 Guessed that was likely. Confirmed looking at a former planning map.

Wonder if I-70 and I-670 should just switch routes.
@nonnadiona2659 Жыл бұрын
Could be a good idea. If I-70 switches with I-670, the I-70 section north of I-670 together with the western and northern part of the Downtown loop could be demolished. Should’ve never existed in the first place anyway.

That whole area of interchanges with I-35, I-29/US 71, and 670 is such a mess, a rat's nest. It's a shame they destroyed their Downtown for this. Hopefully, the Royals will move down there and help them redeem it, along with that cap and park. It's going to be really nice there once that park is done. That exit for I-35 is one of the most dangerous I've ever seen and nearly each time I've ever been there, there seems to have almost been an accident from people waiting too long to make the merge to get to 35 and they want to come over from the far left lane. It's like driving in some of the worst places on the east coast. Too bad you didn't let the video ride all the way out to the Legends. A nice area, even if it's kinda far out, coming from KCMO.

yeah coming from someone who lived in Overland Park. Commuting up to northern areas of KCMO from Southern KCK via I-35 was always scary because of the cluster of interchanges in such a small area.

Fuck the royals. There is no reason the stadiums should bw rebuilt. They are in a safe location in their own spot off I70. Traffic in KC is already terrible, imagine stadium traffic in downtown. (Its already a nightmare where it is now)

I would rather *_not_* see the US 71 "expressway/parkway" given what that judge did!
