08:37 Combat advantage got a massive rework. Attacking a fortified hill over a ford gives your opponents army +600% damage... so as you were only outnumbering your opponent 2:1, they still had the capability of dealing quadruple your armies total damage. Combat width also means that only a portion of the total troops can deal damage to each other per tick, mitigating numerical advantage even further.

A liege gets the option to either give into a faction's ultimatum, or declare war against the faction. Directly declaring war on your liege for your own independence means that you are the aggressor and therefore have to siege down your liege's capital.

Ohhh this seems like an oversight from the devs, i also realised it when declaring independence directly costs prestige or piety when you can just create a faction and send an ultimatum immediately

Dissolution War and Independence War should really change the way it treats ticking War Score, for sure. It should probably scale on size too. The bigger the top liege is, the less they get. Or at least Distance-based.

One of my biggest peeves is that if your liege tries to take a title or imprison you, and you choose war over submission, the game counts you as the aggressor rather than defender and you have to go siege his lands rather than defend your own

@@josh10722 I always wondered if that is because it's needed to create the trigger for imprisoning / revocation. It does feel weird. I guess they don't have a system for wars where neither side is technically the aggressor.

@@josh10722 In that situation you are the aggressor. Rather than accepting your liege's legitimate (even if a little bit tyrannical) demands you start a revolt against them. It's like your landlord asking you to leave so you decide to turn it into a Waco situation.

havent got to that part of the video, but i can say whenever ive been defending against independence (ie, im the king against a duke) ive had to siege the dukes land to stop them gaining war score having came back to the vid after stuff i can confirm that he has to do more than the ai, i dont think ive ever really had independence wars as an attacker, unless the faction started war and declare war independence wars work differently, as he done the latter whereas the ai does the former

Fun tip if you wanna ramp this up further: The great conqueror mod: it predates the conqueror trait but has the same premise. It still works in 1.13 and can stack with the conqueror and scourge of the gods and synergies in an unholy way if the stars align. Buffed mongols mod: Increases the power of the mongol empire when it begins overall. Has a difficulty slider and at maximum difficulty is INSANELY op.

Uhoh, guess laith didn’t check out the warfare changes. Basically combat advantage is now the most important thing when it comes to combat so you need to be very aware of the numerous things that go into calculating that and if you’re on the offensive you need to pick battles that you can actually win. Otherwise you need a massive numerical advantage and good MaA.

@@Ranked_Journey a stockpile is the worst thing you can have. If the thing that keeps your army going is industrial might, then loyalty and rebellions become far less of a critical factor. Even if some rebels were to get their hands on your weapons, you could just outproduce them. A large industrial base also fosters loyalty because it can build long term prosperity that your men won't want to destroy. If all you have is a big pile of weapons from the future that were somehow transported to the past then you better also have a massive pile of gold to pay off your troops and anyone involved in logistics.
