I probably put close to a million miles in one of those 352 PETERBILTS.❤🐘🇺🇸 Why are you worrying about creature comforts when you ride up and down the road in the hot summertime with no air? Come on man😀😀😀You know too many creature comforts is what's wrong with most of these candy asses. I drove B-61 Macks cross country and all up and down the eastern seaboard with no air, no power steering and no air ride or air seat and a 28"" sleeper. Candy asses. That's what you've got for drivers nowadays.

3406A was a 325hp with a loud turbo, so loud (whistle) you'd hear it all weekend. Had the low pressure pump, but some creative/crazy folks put the B model high pressure pump on it, it would scream with super hp for a while until she'd blow sky high. Great engine if it was respected for what it was. Put an 18 speed Spicer behind it and you were in tall cotton.

I love the sound of Orwell’s engine, but listening to Big Yellow today, with the chirping of its turbocharger, reminded me even more of the CAT engines I used to hear as a kid (late 1906s-early 70s). Most of the trucks I was around were Autocars and Mack B, R, and DM series dump trucks and concrete mixers, and the CAT engines were in earth-moving equipment-dozers, loaders, and compactors. Thanks for your videos and genuine Jersey accent!

You should put some money in the old school cabover and make it a good work truck for a back up, great video keep up the good work God bless from GA
@mikehoncho6582 жыл бұрын
No he needs to put that extra money into Orwell, she could use some new shoes and rims, and other things that it deserves to keep her on the road. Then next would prob be saving up for a trade in on a new or newer trailer within a few years. The other truck is not a otr truck and nvr will be, that should be his project truck that eventually could be a show truck down the road but not ever a otr truck for a lot of reasons
@mikehoncho6582 жыл бұрын
@@6582rg there are a lot of reasons. I'll start with it being very uncomfortable for one and that's ok bc it's not set up like a modern or newer otr truck. It would beat you to death in one trip, another reason is that it's not set up for the power he needs to pull his usual freight, transmission as well could be the same issue. it's just not a truck you would ever consider running more then around your house, or show/play truck
@gregadomeit40202 жыл бұрын
@@mikehoncho658 that old yellow Peter's probably state of the art when it was assembled. I bet it did many OTR miles. Technology has changed light years since that time. Steve does the best he can with what he has and who knows what's he has in store for that 2 stroke big Detroit.

That iconic truck is perfect for you to do a series on sorting it out for reliability and changing the back end of the frame. Please keep any stretch to a minimum. I freakin love this truck the way it is paint wise and interior wise. I'm sure with some TLC, you'll have a badass rig on your hands! The way it sits and the way it sounds reminds me of the days when seeing a rig like this was common as a Volvo is today so good luck with whatever you choose to do with it because I promise you it will get some looks if it didn't already when you were transporting it In fact, why don't you call it killer bee because of its paint and the fact it stings you if you're not a he man to drive it.

That old 352 is a classic in the trucking universe. I'm glad that you are keeping it and it could be turned into a really nice showpiece truck. You could stretch the frame, that's a real popular thing these days, or you could keep it as a short wheelbase COE, those ruled the highways back when states had shorter semi-truck length limit laws.

Man's best friend is not named 'Rover', it's name is "Skinner" (valve)... I worked part-time for a charter bus company from '79 thru '94, I saw a fresh rebuild from a Detroit-only shop go into "full fuel" mode, and watched as the shop foreman reached between the blower drive belt to shut the engine down. That ain't no fun!!

You can convert a 3406pc into a 3406 direct injection. It was a common conversion back in the day that was performed by caterpillar. You should find yourself a peterbilt 372, I bought one last year and it is definitely one of the coolest cabover trucks made. My truck is a enclosed car hauler and not a over the road tractor. I have a 1993 model with a 12.7 detroit and I love it. They only made a little over 700 units during its production run and there is plenty of them out there cheap.

Kinda stupid idea maybe but I think it would work.. Then again I always thought using a RV pushout that ran between back of cab to the trailer using all the space between them for a drop down big bed..lol..
