Wow thanks for sharing! GOD bless you. I went through similar situation. I have lived here with my family since 10 yrs old and had my application denied several times and changed solicitirs 4 times. I had 4 As at my A levels and i was invited to study Law at Cambridge university but i was unable to go to university because I could not afford international fees since I was not entitled to student loans. My family were restricted from working so I have been homeless and evicted in this country 3 times due to lack of money. I did not get my residency until I was 23 years old. I am 26 and married now and about to buy my first home. I have a good job in central london without a degree. Only Jesus did this for me. Hope this encourages anyone currently still going through this.

Laila, I am from the Carribean and my immediate fam emigrated to the US. I have been a subbie since 2009. That's a long time! I began watching your videos starting with your big chop. I remember in one of your video when you said u were taking a break from school and when you talked briefly about hair loss or balding. You never did discuss it with us but because I am like you, difficult to open up to others, my instinct was telling me something was up. I never assume everything is well with others unless I am 100% sure because most of the time everything is NOT ok. Maybe I am wrong. There is a quote by an unknown that I love. It says: “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle,” You are such a beautiful person both inside and out. You exude positivity and the people who are open to that positivity appreciates it. I am glad you are here.

I too was detained at Yarl's Wood (I completely understand the whole van experience you were talking about it's honestly the worst thing I've ever experienced ) and I had my ALevels in 2 weeks! So I was really panicking. Anyway, thank God my mum and I got out after 6 days of being there(a week to my exams), I sat my exams and came out with A*s which could've only been by God's grace because I became so disoriented and was badly affected by the whole experience. I can't go to uni and I have to report every other week😅😅 but I'm grateful to be out and be in my own home

They are so under staffed the staff they do have just make random decisions. Ultimately it was her mother's fault for not sorting out her child's status well before she was 16 as they delibrately delay giving answers until you are 18, as then it's easy to chuck you out.
@Ilikefrogs..5 жыл бұрын
@@MsPeabody1231 How do you know she could afford it?? They applied several times and each time cost a tbousand dollars! Plus lawyer fees! That's a ridiculous barrier to access for so many people! I was born and raised in Toronto and there is no way I could afford to do that! And it is probably PURPOSELY that expensive so that poorer people are easily detained and deported.

The way we are treated in foreign countries is so appauling but the disheartening thing is how we in africa still dont want to put it in the work these foreign countries put in to make their countries better rather we just see these countries as like an escape route, a place to go to make all our problems go away.

God is great! So happy everything worked out well. I went through a similar situation, but in the Netherlands (born in Congo) not as a regular immigrant, but worse... An asylum seeker. After years of living in insecurity we finally got the citizenship. Always felt ashamed of being an Asylum seeker. Only recently I'm able to speak about it, even close friends never knew about my 12 years of living in an Asylum camp. Your story really touched me and you have inspired me so much. Stay blessed!

nelson Lea It wasn't my choice to take. People tend to forget that children under legal age don't have a say when their parents want a safer and better future for them. And go back to what with no papers? With nothing to build a future? Now that I have citizenship, I have gone back to my birth country and I have traveled to other places. Heck, I don't even live in Europe anymore as I'm writing this. As you might know or maybe you don't, we live in a world where people who come from so-called 3rd world countries don't have shit to say when they don't have the right papers. It makes all the difference in the world having a double passport or having the nationality of a Western country.

It is deep. when i saw those two brother loose their fingers to get to canada through the freezing snow to keep from going back to ghana. It lets me know how desperate people are in AFrica. i met brothers that went the back way this time while in west africa. No offense to you. i am listening to you and it is deep. It is true that we have built these countries and we should be able to travel freely. But i will be glad when we do something to change the situation in africa and such that we WE are ok living there as well. we come and take care of what our fore fathers (families ) have built in the west. instead of building africa. but fortunately some of us are seeing and returning to do so. give thanks.

This is what irritates me about some people's attitude to immigrants, we have to pay ALOT of money to be here. It aint free at all smh!!! This is an AMAZING testimony.

LittleSharon You do realise it is just racism right? The white immigrants who also have to get their papers are not insulted and abused in the media.

Thank you for sharing your story and putting a face and humanity to the numbers and the articles we see. It's too easy for those unaffected by immigration to "other" those who are. Thanks for helping change that. Hopefully one day no one will have to go through what you did. 💌

Your story was inspiring. God is so good! Psalms 40:2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

The God we serve knows NO borders while the goverment's of this world come up with policies rules etc but as believers in Christ we rely on our God for his ultimate ruling. I give thanks that you are still here! We love you Leyla. Such an injustice.....treated like you are a criminal. To pat you down. ( I have a lump in my throat). But some of these things are to help you grow. Painful though it may be. I will never take residency for granted again. But this God that we serve restores. He replaces what was lost, time, earnings anything you lost to the point you don't hurt about them but like you rejoice! I thank you for your testimony. Keep your faith little sis. To God be ALL glory❤️

She's a massive idiot..i feel we need more intelligent people in ENGLAND not just any ol'rubbish...If you are not born in a country you have to make sure all your paperwork is correct.Why is this so hard for some? Modern Britain doesn't owe anyone anything.....If she wanted to do well go back to Ghana go to University there than work and apply again...Calling Britain imperialists yet wanting to be a part of the country IS RIDICULOUS.... AS for Africa all the countries there need is some decent forward thinking LEADERS.Its took South Korea 50 yrs to go from peasants to a global technological POWER.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and being vulnerable with us. My father is a Nigerian immigrant in the US and had he not come and met my mother I wouldn't be here. You shed light on what its like to be an immigrant in today's society.💜
