I have started designing my own parts because stuff I want is either very expensive or difficult to get a hold of! Currently working on a panzerfaust as I want to run it in a game but I dont fancy paying over 400 for one! Few other launchers I want that either do not exist or are super expensive in airsoft that I will eventually be working on. I also make my own taginn chalk rounds and have made launcher inserts that allow me to fire taginns using regular shower shells. This is great for practice as regular taginns cost 10 a round and their availability is terrible where as I can print them for 0.1 so can put down 100 rounds down range for the price of one taginn.

Printed parts always break because people use PLA which too weak. You gotta go with the stronger stuff like nylon, polycarbonate and TPU for flexible stuff like armor which is impact resistant.

Was coming down here to say that. Also they should make sure their infill is set to 100% for parts that don't need to be slightly flexible. People are making pretty reliable firearms with these things. A little airsoft toy should be easy asf 😂

Nowadays there is many material options. PEEK, PAKV, etc... You can even 3d print metal.

I've found that 3D printing for Airsoft is especially useful for GBB replicas, something I know you've dabbled in recently. Parts can sometimes be difficult and/or expensive to obtain with some brands and models of GBBs because the amount of aftermarket support just isn't the same compared to AEGs as I'm sure everyone knows. I've lost count of the times I've saved money and shipping time when a part in one of my gas guns break. Great video! I'd recommend looking into a filament printer as well. The MCX you're printing (looks amazing btw, can't wait to see more) reminded me why I prefer FDM over SLA: The ease of splicing two parts together. When printing plastic, all you need for a solid bond between parts is a soldering iron to melt the plastic together or, even better, a 3D print pen using the same material as the print to fill in gaps with molten plastic and weld the pieces together.

i am in the midst of creating a mechanical (like the kythera. semi only) hpa engine for the consumer market. it will cost $110 for the base model (more premium models made with stronger material) and i want to send one to kraken to review

It’ll break Unless you can print hot in an enclosure and anneal parts afterwards. Then they should last indefinitely, especially if printed in cf nylon

I've been using ASA for all my ODST airsoft armour and airsoft stuff. 6 walls & 40% infill allow multiple knife stabs, window breaker stabs, and 4 hammer (flat end) and 4 hammer claw strikes before it starts cracking. it will easily outperform many polymer options. If anyone wants more information, print settings, or want me to make them stuff don't hesitate to contact me. I have a very high end printer and perfected settings in making armour and attachments

I've printed a few spare bottom caps for Glock mags. Changed the plates on my mags and played a few games and wow the inevitable finally happened and I dropped one of my mags. Happy it didnt land with the loading ears or whatever down first, but it actually cracked my 3D printed part doing it's job to absorb the blow and the mag is completely safe. Had two extras in my bag so I just switched the broken part and continued. Think of it as an old Nokia. When it hits the ground it breaks into pieces keeping the core safe from damage. With 3D printing you can more or less do the same with certain applications to keep your gear up and running. It can be a small shroud over optics, it can be a mesh covering lenses etc. Oh I forgot, I printed a tool to replace the irons on my glock as well. I have not yet used it, but I have planned to put optics on it so it's good already having a tool for that for free basically. Imagination is limitless.

its cool to see even airsoft does 3d printing. i come from blaster tag which is like high power nerf essentially. we 3d print a lot of our blasters entirely from materials such as pla, petg, etc...

3D printing in airsoft is being quite useful to me, i printed a Colt 727 conversion kit for a standard M4 (full body with all small parts, stock, slim handguard), it is holding up pretty well, 6 months and no signs of wear or wobble. some layer lines do show though. Also I printed a scope mount, which handles a heavy scope pretty well. The key to a successful print is part orientation, full wall build (infill is irrelevant as long you have enough walls). Printed with eSun PLA+. That motivated me to try and model a HK21/23 conversion kit for G3 series AEG.

Im personally using my friends 3d printers to print prototypes, and then have cnc shops manufacturer finals. worked pretty well so far. Double barrel HPA PKM is in the works currently

I have 3 soon to be 4 printer guns. FDM is honestly better for this job unless you have a really big resin printer ( I’m talking the Saturn and above at minimum ) it’s great for making curses airsoft guns

My only gripe with 3D printing is that its raised up this notion among many young users that Cad files for anything and everything should just be free for the taking. Innovation has to be rewarded and protected, otherwise the world will only breed copycats. Outside of that, i love seeing a lot of youth getting into airsoft and 3D printing. Seeing them come across issues then innovating and printing solutions for them.
