Plastic Defence: Secret 3D Printed Guns in Europe

PLASTIC DEFENCE is a documentary about illegal 3D printed firearms in Europe and the decentralised network behind them. These guns are robust, they don't blow up in your hands, and they're untraceable. What's more, they're being made in people's bedrooms.
At Popular Front, we got access to the network designing and building these downloadable rifles. It goes by the name "Deterrence Dispensed". Its members are determined to give untraceable DIY firearms to the world. We spent time with the founder of the movement-a man known as JStark.
He showed us how he designs the firearms, builds them in his workshop, and even makes bootleg 9mm ammunition for them.
We also went out into the forests with JStark to witness how powerful 3D printed firearms have become, and to gauge how dangerous they could be for Europe.
JStark argues that his group is helping people living under authoritarianism fight back against their oppressors. Whilst this could be true, Deterrence Dispensed is sending their technology out into the world for free to anyone and everyone. It's totally unregulated. If it gets into the wrong hands, which it easily could do, many innocent people could die.
[NOTE: Sorry gun fans, I interchangeably used the term "assault rifle" incorrectly I think. Forgive me, I'm Bri'ish - @JHanrahan]
RIP JStark

@@InterFace95 the problem with no citizenship gun ownership is the possibly you end up like modern day China and communist Russia. You can’t vote, you can’t say your opinions, you only can do what your government tells you to do. As jstark says freedom is worth giving up a little safety, bad people will aways do and find a way to do bad things, the point is as a armed citizen you take your protection in your own hands. Here in America our Supreme Court ruled that the police are not obligated or required to protect you, we already know our government won’t protect us it’s in your hands to protect your life and your liberty and most importantly your rights. Jstarks vision for the FGC9 is playing out in countries as we speak rebels in Myanmar are fighting for their rights using the fgc9 as their main rifle. “An armed society is a polite society”

It actually mesmerizes me how people further simplified the FGC-9 design or improved it even after the creator has passed away, and the gun is actually being used by freedom fighters in Myanmar against their tyrannical military government. It wouldn't be. Because he didn't want to be political, and without politics there's no centralized definition of what "free" means. People will argue over that and eventually will start shooting each other over it. That's how it always goes. Absolute individual freedom never works, because there will always be people wanting freedoms that inhibit someone else's freedom. That's why compromise is necessary, that's how democracy was born.

@@stysner4580 JStark referenced the Uyghurs as a bad situation. The Burmese army literally wants to kill the country's ethnic minorities. These two things are in the same vein. RIP JStark. The guys who did this report ratted on him. They called the German police from England. JStark figured this might happen and had NOTHING in his apartment when they showed up. His only mistake was talking to popular front. From the article: "The raid on JStarks home was sparked by a confidential report by the German Federal Office of Criminal Investigation (it is not clear how this “confidential report” made its way into Spiegel’s hands) showed that German authorities received a message from England last December regarding “a man in Germany who is maybe manufacturing and spreading 3d printed firearms.” Investigators tracked down 28-year old Jacob D. where a special commando team raided his flat and searched the entire place. The search turned up nothing illegal nor were any firearms found at his apartment." Who else?

Lol, they're not powerful, they're the words of a gun nut in his bedroom with no other life who thinks "freedom" somehow equates to playing with guns. He talked about security versus freedom without realising the vast majority of the freedoms he enjoys comes from organising a country and laws with a balance of regulations and freedoms. The only reason people who much more badass than him aren't coming to take what is his is because of the law and the military he think is a threat for no reason. It's not a threat, it actually enables you to live withOUT a whole host of threats. Gun control works (as an Australian) and ensures that people who shouldn't have guns (like this tool) don't have them or at least find it real hard to get them, so that they don't come after YOU or accidentally blow their own heads off or do it when they're suicidal or kill their spouse when they find them cheating or kill their boss when they get fired or shoot up their school when they get bullied (the list of mentally and emotionally stressful scenarios that can send someone over the edge for a brief period or more is endless).

This is the classic ideology that the people fighting for the little guy are the problem, when as you said, his goal is to educate, and protect the freedoms we could lose at ANY moment. JStark isn't out to weaponize civilians to lead them on a rampage. He is interested in arming these civilians to protect themselves, because no one else will be protecting them, but themselves. The questions he kept asking, over and over, to "make his point" were from the viewpoint and mindset of a person who believes his government has his best interests in mind, when that is FAR from the truth. This is the brainwashing BS that people have been gobbling up forever. Our Governments only protect us "on the surface" , while in reality, they are working behind the scenes to strip us of whatever free choices we have left. JStark said it well, when he said that in an instant, if the Government (any Government BTW, not just one singled out entity) decides to take away a certain freedom, they will do it, with or without your consent. Something that was once taken for granted could / will be just taken from you. Don't like it? Tough shit... deal with it. This is what JStark is standing against, not arming the masses for death and destruction.

in the UK if you kill in self defense, apparrently you are still guilty of murder and must serve the time. A Jury of peers is essential to ensure those cases are fairly handled, as there is sometimes fair argument that killing was unneccessary.

You get my downvote for being stupid, but JStark is literally a hero. A man who put his life on the line for the freedoms of those who had none and to protect the freedoms of the ones who are at stake of losing them. You are so dense. So unbelievably blinded by the rhetoric behind gun control, that you cannot see that this man spoke the truth. You will never be as safe or as free as you were when you were with him. Not only was he protecting himself and his rights, he was ready to fight and die for yours. That's the secret. There will always be bad people and they will always do bad things. They will never stop and they will always find a way to cause terror. You cannot stop bad people from existing, but you can protect you, your loved ones, and your freedom from them.

@Gus Bandersnatch socialist feds? Do some research Socialism:a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. Federalism is a type of government in which the power is divided between the national government and other governmental units. It contrasts with a unitary government, in which a central authority holds the power, and a confederation, in which states, for example, are clearly dominant. A federal republic is a federation of states with a republican form of government. At its core, the literal meaning of the word republic when used to reference a form of government means: "a country that is governed by elected representatives and by an elected leader rather than by a king or queen"

the federalisation of everything in America has only existed to tighten the of grip of big corporations and the politicians that are their puppets. Hypothetically, downloading a car would be terrific IF it was a car model similar to something made in the 50's where it would last a lifetime, didn't easily get damaged and was something that you could repair yourself.
