This adaptation / cinematic retelling of the play Angels in America is just fantastic. It’s one of the best HBO mini-series.

Angels in America was soooo goooood. The Quartet scene, brilliant acting by all involved. The magical realism sequences...so captivating.

Tell me, it's not yet another series, is it? I don't understand why everything has to be a series when it could be told in 90 minutes.

@@rainking50 I've never seen this show or heard anything negative or positive about it. I saw it while scrolling through my choices on HBO. I'm currently pretty much on bedrest from a Crohn's flare up and end up watching A-Lot of tv when that happens. I thought I'd watch the trailer and read some comments to see if others said 👍👎 before watching. I'm going to start watching tonite. If it has an impact on my life I will happily answer your questions if you are still interested. I think that's actually an... .😂interesting thing to be interested in... 🤦♀️ I couldn't think of another way to phrase that. 😊 hope your day was a good one

@@rainking50 Though not related to "Angels," I can say how much a story - or a movie- can change one's life. Mine was 1972's "The Poseidon Adventure," the original film about the capsizing of a fictional ocean liner on new year's eve by a rogue tidal wave set off by an undersea earthquake. The chaos that ensues as the liner heels, the gaiety in the ship's dining room shifting to utter chaos, dishes flying, pianos crashing, decorations and confetti all being destroyed as people in formal attire are thrown about the furniture is mind blowing - no CGI effects in 1972, all real effects - the story of the survivors and their will to climb out and up to the bottom of the still-floating liner is very inspiring, much as it is in the book from 1969 by Paul Gallico. I have re-enacted and celebrated that film ever since, and I am 60 now and still love it! I miss the annual "capsize parties" friends and I had on new year's eve, artistically redressing a large space to resemble the ballroom as much as possible, and destroying it at midnight, all while trying not to get hurt. Later, meeting the stars who were in it was phenomenal, even the director, as well as many stunt extras who remembered so much about their time working on a groundbreaking film such as that one was, in scope and in scale. There are only three of them left now, as far as the principle cast, one of those being Gene Hackman, who I believe just turned 92 and is a painter in Santa Fe. It was tricky getting his autograph on my battered copy of the script signed by most of the other stars but I did! Since then I have loved scenes of chaos in fancy establishments, preferably involving the breaking of glass and folks in formalwear, but it doesn't have to be, even a car driving through a restaurant (as long as no one is hurt) can be glorious. Earthquakes too, to some extent. I even made a one-man feature length remake of the film, here on KZbin, in which I play all the characters, men AND women, did all the sets, costumes, and props, and it took seven years to complete because of all that work. So yes, a movie can change your life in big ways!

I started this when it came out, but I never actually ended up finishing it. Finally finished watching it many years later, after watching the 2017-18 revival of the stage play with Andrew Garfield and Nathan Lane. Both incredible entertainment. Angels has come to be very special to me. Kushner still deserves much praise for manufacturing such a marvellous thing.

1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
