The immigration system in the United States is broken. We have kids who did not decide to come here illegally and who are law abiding people who are in unfortunate situations. DACA students should have a path to citizenship or at least to permanent residency.

I understand this is a very sensitive and complex subject. I know most undocumented immigrants risk everything to provide a better life for their children and only wish to find work - and I can respect that wholeheartedly. With that being said, we cannot ignore the fact that some *(not all)* of the people coming here are committing crimes. I think everyone can agree that criminals should be sent back, and I personally believe that children should not be punished for what their parents did and they should be granted citizenship. Is that reasonable?

How can people say that? How can people be so ignorant to say that they should get deported? I am very disappointed in what these people have been taught. My parents are immigrants they pay a lot in taxes, and get nothing back. My parents adopted two of my cousins, so that makes six children. We only get 400 dollars back in taxes. I think that people shouldn't speak until they have been in other people's shoes. I can see why people might think that we "take thier money and jobs" but they don't have to work twice as hard as we do to be heard. Today at my school I was called an immigrant just because I am brown. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said "I want to be the president of the United States!" She told me, "You can't be the president." I said "Why not?" She said this, and I quote, "Because you are Mexican-American." I thought that because I had a different skin color, other than white, that I couldn't be anyone of importance, besides a factory worker. Please be nice to people. Hopefully the new generation of kids see that any skin color, sexuality, and religion are all normal people.
@johndoe-wv3nu6 жыл бұрын
Yoraima Chavez - your parents only got back $400 because they probably earn low wages. They EARN their money, honorably. Your teacher was probably trying to tell you that you have to be a natural born citizen of the US to be president. Please don't assume she was being mean. If your parents are filing income taxes then they have the right to work here. Your family is not part of the ILLEGAL alien debate. Kid if you want to live in the US and become a citizen. Assimilate and become a real American, you need to do your homework. It would be much easier on you and your family if we didn't have such a massive problem with illegal immigrants. Take some time to learn what illegal immigrants cost the US. The social ramifications of illegal immigration. Moving to a new location is difficult in the best of situations. Learn about the American culture and it's people. Read, listen, learn. A teacher once told me all media was produced by a person. Every person has a bias. Always question, check sources and cross reference information. Your parents will take care of their children before they take care of mine. America's children need attention right now. We take in more legal immigrants every year then any other country on earth. Hope I helped.

You don't get to choose to be called 'undocumented' if you are undocumented you are an illegal immigrant, it's simply as that. That's the law. My parents are immigrants and they came in legally. I agree that there should be a program so they can live as undocumented people as long as they register to become a citizen and are meeting the requirements which I'm sure won't be too difficult for most of these people their English is good and they seem pretty smart. America should make it easier for people who want to come over to live, work and study there and they should also make it easier for illegal immigrants who were brought in as children to get citizenship. But if you're illegal you're illegal, this isn't offensive, it's accurate, using the word 'undocumented' doesn't change any of that.

Will someone read this comment? probably not, but I still feel the need of saying this. To all the people saying "just enter legally" "green cards exist" "just get your papers done" and stuff like that: It's not that easy. Getting papers is ridiculously expensive. Most of us can't get the money, and if we try, that will take years of double shifts and extra time. Imagine this: You live in a country where the minimal wage is not enough to live a "decent life". Drug cartels fight in your city at least once a week. Your children must go to school, but you can't afford it. Want a promotion at your job? Dream on! You'll only get it if you somehow know the mayor or someone important. Let's fight the corrupted government! You'll die just like the others. Hey, there's a country that can offer you a good salary. No health care and everyone will despise you, bug you actually get paid. Wouldn't you go there illegally just to get your family a good future? I would and my parents did. And I am proud of them, because they risked their lives to get me and my brothers a good one. QUE VIVA LATINOAMERICA, QUE MUERA LA CORRUPCIÓN!

Ernesto Casillas illegal immigration is a direct response to the horrible, expensive and long immigration system in the US. If you want to solve any type of problem you have to go to the roots of the problem, and in this case is the system.
@ernestocasillas21308 жыл бұрын
Eclipse a government isn't supposed to accommodate its laws to non citizens. the amount of immigration to a country always goes up and down depending on the country's necessity for them. when the country needs workers it looks for them, but when a country has a 4.9% unemployment rate they aren't needed at the time, and for that reason the government makes it harder for them to come. aside from that illegal immigration is not justified. if the illegal immigrants still feel this huge patriotism too their home land (as most of them do, and I'm not talking only about Latinos) they should try to better conditions over there instead of coming over breaking the law

@H N I just meant that they should have included an undocumented person without DACA on the video. And perhaps you could read some more on the reasons other countries are in a bad state. The US influences their bad state too. Read up.
@beatrix27454 жыл бұрын
@H N No, Latinos do not feel entitled to come here. Of course, there are many who do not appreciate the better opportunities this country provides, but most who come appreciate this country. And not everyone who has come here has gone through the legal process. May I remind you that this is stolen land, mate. That argument doesn't hold, so don't even bring it up. And such a lie about the taxes. They have to pay taxes just like US citizens. In fact, most of them do. The ones who don't is because they are afraid they will get deported, but the IRS still has them on the radar. Even though they pay taxes, they can't get the benefits that paying taxes has unless they have a citizen child, in which the benefits would only be for the child. In a way, they are paying for U.S citizens medical care, education, etc.

I get that some people have the necessity to move illegally to the US, but is kinda unfair to us the people who actually pays and work to have legal access, mostly because people tend to generalize and they attack everybody in Mexico and Latinoamérica.

Let's talk hypothetically. Would you steal medicine for your sick grandma/loved one? You know that their medicine is expensive and you're constantly working (but you don't have enough money), but you also know that if you don't get them their medicine, they'll die. Would you do whatever it takes to help them? I'm genuinely asking. I want to see what you would do.

My best friend of 20 years is a LEGAL Ecuadorian immigrant. I remember talking with him and his parents about DACA and illegal immigrantion they were furious about it. They, like a lot of legal immigrants, hate the idea how illegals just cut in line to come into this country, and act as though they're owed something. They actually take pride in being American citizens. They waited, they took and passed their citizenship tests and interviews and what not. They paid their dues, and came to this country dirt poor. If they can do it, so can you.

They are illegal. Freedom and justice should include American citizens, right? This is our country, saying otherwise is a radical view. This is our country, not illegals'. They need to go back. Justice is following the law and deporting illegals.

Abc Abc while that may be true, calling a human being "illegal" is wrong :/
@AlphabetCookie7 жыл бұрын
T A T U M Why is that wrong? Because it's not super sensitive? It's short for "illegal immigrant." If you enter a place illegally, you are illegal. Like if you go into a country illegally, or if you enter someone's property illegally, trespassing, going over borders without permission, etc.
@TatumMilli7 жыл бұрын
Abc Abc why not just call them immigrants and not illegal 😇
@AlphabetCookie7 жыл бұрын
T A T U M Because they are not immigrants. Immigrants come to a country legally. It's disrespectful to the real immigrants to call these people the immigrants. They are illegal. Use the proper term. :)

It saddens me to see all of this comments saying go back to your country you criminal or wet bag. But the thing is that for us that came here when we were children to us this is our country because we grew up here this is all we know and we do contribute to the United States we do pay taxes we have to work our butts off so we can help out at home. We get discriminated on a daily basis and it sucks when people judge you that way. So having DACA gave us the small opportunity to breath a little and not be scared all the time and come out of the shadows to actually work to become someone there family's can be proud of something that they couldn't have given us in or our country of birth. So please if you don't know what it is like to be in the shadows and worried that when ever your family member goes out to work they might not come back because immigration caught them don't speak does negative words. Because just remember your ancestors that came to this country came here illegally also so if it hadn't been for them you wouldn't be living here ether. Just put yourself in our shoes for a moment.

I blame the parents of this poor kids! is totally their fault, I understand the kids, my family and I immigrated to U.S long ago but with the difference that my parent worked their butts off to be able to come legally with working visas instead of the other way, after years of fighting, working and spending thousands of dollars, my family and I were able to get our recidency... making an immigration law to give out papers for free, I don't like! soo many families like mine and some that are still working on their visas and then suddenly millions of undocumented people will get papers out of no where? really unfair!! if its going to be a law, it has to cover lots of areas of immigration, not only undocumented...

INFACT my dad has papers and documents now because my sister fought for that SHE TRIED SO HARD SHE COULD HAVE GOTTEN FIRED.. but she didn't cuz she has a point. Think of it like this. As a parent in a poor family, would you steal a loaf of bread to feed your children? Think of Venezuela and how one measly loaf of bread is around $15-20 due to inflation, but even with all the jobs you work at, none of the pay is enough. Would you commit an illegal crime for the love of your family?

The parents put their children in this situation- no one else did this. Illegal is not offensive it’s a fact. Mexico and other countries should be held accountable for providing humanitarian living conditions for their citizens. The focus should be on changing the laws not temporary providing sanctuary. You need to really ask yourself why is congress not focusing on actually changing the immigration laws to open the gate to let everyone come into this country. This topic is only for election years talking points. If the laws changed there is no need for feel good executive actions - there’s no need for daca dreamers it just a “look at me” I care talking point - but after the election Congress does nothing! Think about that - all these illegal immigrants are being fooled!

for anybody wondering how policies that politicians put in place affect peoples lives this is one of them. the wet foot dry foot policy the u.s. put in place for Cuban immigrants has positive effect for the people that made it, negative effects for the people that tried and drown, by giving the migrants the opportunities to study, start business, or to get a job has made the Cuban american community the most prosperous latino community in america. its sad how politicians that don't understand the plight of an immigrant gets to vote on that persons life. What i am getting at is FUCKING VOTE!!!!!!!!!! if there's nobody to vote for then you run for office, yes you reader

As far as I'm concerned, all immigrants are and should ALWAYS be welcome into the USA. Our country was founded on the idea of equal opportunity for all, no matter your background, so why don't we continue to live by those values? What happened between 1776 and now that made us so hateful towards people that at their cores, really aren't any different from us? We all want the same things right? Success, happiness, safety... what gives hateful Americans (who over 90% come from families of immigrants) the right to say who gets to have those things and who doesn't?
