Master the early expansion phase, save up to your red interest if possible, play around borders (eg keep buffer states if possible)

Cg idk if you will see this but i expand the same as you with same amount as you but others somehow always ens up bigger than me despite doing what you do. I also try and hit bots when they are low tho i admit i don't have the best luck with that. I have wins under my belt but i still wonder what am i doing wrong? Cause i somehow end up being a middle guy around a bunch of middle guys who won't commit to attacking while some dude gets huge across the map. Then i get ganged up on despite not being the smallest when i was trying to get people to attack but no one ever commits

There's an option in the main menu where you can hide player names and replace them with the generic names that bots use. You can look at the top right and see it says "Humans" to confirm I'm actually playing against real players. To tell the difference between bots and players, just know that bots have underlines under their names and players don't.
