My advice: get rid of everything but metal. The rest will smell like horse for years. A friend of mine tryed somenting like that, and regrets keeping some old wood.
@shyamdevadas6099
@shyamdevadas6099 4 жыл бұрын
I have a feeling that getting rid of the wood is mandatory. Did you see her flaking off that MDF board with her pocket knife? I've always wanted to do a project like this. One of the things that I still wonder about is the gross weight. With all of the amenities, I'd want, it would weigh a ton.

@williamcarr2630
@williamcarr2630 4 жыл бұрын
@@plankengriller7320 Actually it is wafer board made by gluing up small wafers and drying under great pressure whereas plywood is a sheet of wood veneer placed 45 to 90 degrees to the previous sheet and continued in this manner with glue between each sheet until the desired thickness is reached. Followed by rolling under pressure and drying under pressure at very warm temperatures to control humidity and warping. Mdf is simply shreded and pulverized wood fibers mixed with epoxy and molded under tremendous pressure. The length of the fibers and degree of pulverization is what determines whether it is high density fiberboard (hdf), medium density fiberboard (mdf), or low density fiberboard (ldf).

You have been a super hero of mine for awhile so now you know too. The house my wife and bought in 2002 was a fixer on steroids. I had 12 volt power tools i would charge up in our apartment at night and and work on our fixer on my days off that had no electricity at the time. I had some hand tools. I totally get where you are coming from and I can see no limits to where you are going. Thank you for bringing us along with you on this journey. Peace, love, and health.

My husband and I are attempting the same thing. In our spare time with all our surplus cash, of course! We bought a three-horse "slant" with a dressing room in the V-nose. Our pantry will consist of a very solid, MCM commercial drawer filing cabinet. The heavy drawers glide in and out smoothly, each one locking itself into the closed position every single time! The five drawers hold a TON of goods in a very small footprint and are 100% vermin proof. The unit is short enough we plan to use the top of it to build out an eye-level microwave/coffee station. The best part is it was totally FREE! People get rid of these all the time. Oh yeah, and we won't have to build anything except for a wooden tray with a lip to hold our appliances on top. I do think we are going to go crazy with painting it though!

Laura Kampf I talked to a Herr Dierichsweiler from Dekra Cologne recently and he was very friendly on the phone. He said, getting a ‚Wohnwagen Zulassung‘ for my Transporter wouldn’t be a problem, as long as it fulfilled the usual requirements. Haven’t actually been there, due to the Corona outbreak, but I don’t expect any trouble. Maybe talk to him, if the TÜV isn’t keen on the idea.
