awesome build! That's what I love about cargo conversions, you can customize it to what you personally need, I really like the idea of the trundle bed under a sitting platform! Might have to incorporate that into my next build! Have you had any problems with instability while towing with all that weight at the very back? I had to re-do my camper to re-distribute the weight but I only have a single axle cargo camper.

I’m looking forward to seeing how you take the platform idea and innovate it to make it better! Surprisingly the weight distribution has been totally fine. I think the reason why is because when I travel, I stow the batteries directly over top of the axels and those are the heaviest items. Once again, I look forward to seeing your design ☺️

Nice Bluetti set up. I have the 200Max with 2 180 watt solar panels to run my 5x8 cargo trailer camper. My only major draw is the Frigidaire 5k btu window unit. It runs on less than 300 watts and has a soft start for the initial draw. I do want to get a Bluetti 300 battery pack to insure the storage. I was hoping to see the draw from your mini split on your Bluetti. Can you give us those specs,,nice build and thanx in bunches 😊
@jacobwagler Жыл бұрын
That’s amazing! Sounds like such a great system you have set up there! The storage of the BC300 is definitely nice to have! So generally if I start it fresh on a hot day, I’ll need to be pulling more watts from the start and that usually pulls just over 1000watts and I run it at that for 15-20 minutes. It cools the place down nicely and because the place is insulated well, I don’t need to run the A/C for long because it holds the cold in better. When the trailer is cold and if I continue to run the AC with the fan on low, it runs about 600-800watts. These are all readings from the Bluetti screen. My biggest long term pull is the fridge. It depletes the battery a lot so I might try to find another solution. Guess you don’t know till you try. I appreciate your question and I hope I answered what you were looking for!

Love the idea of using a trailer for living in. However, I wonder how limiting a trailer might be? A lot of camping spots might be on dead end roads that will be near impossible to turn a trailer around.

I didn't find this video, it found me! I've been considering building out a cargo trailer. Love your designs! I too, would probably go with a power system that's just easier to work/learn, and just tweak it as needed! You mention a couple of times how well insulated this is. Would you give a brief description of the materials used and the process? Or, maybe just get that other channel going for the build videos? I went looking for it and yt says it doesn't exist. Posting here in a dedicated playlist would work too.
@jacobwagler8 ай бұрын
I’m really glad to hear you like the build! Hope it gives some inspiration for your own build! The materials I used for insulation was 2 1/2 inches of spray foam in the ceiling, 1 1/2 inch of R10 foam board in the walls (foiled both sides) and for the floor I have 2 1/2 inch of pink foam board. I haven’t currently edited any videos of the building process. There’s a guy named Chuck on KZbin who converts buses and shows his process and I took all of my inspiration for insulting from his video. I just couldn’t do spray foam on the walls because the owner of the trailer before me nailed plywood to the steel channels, so I had to work around that with foam board. Works great though, had enough heat to get me through -30 degrees celsius. Hope this helped! 🙏🏼

First I want to say nice build. My wife and I travel about 200 days of the year pulling a nucamp t@b 400 BDL. Comes complete with wet bath, kitchen, RV queen bed, small dinette, 3 way fridge (DC/AC/Propane), and microwave. My second thought, just wanted to make some observations doing a visual comparison between our rigs. I am confident you could have gone with a more energy efficient and smaller a/c - heat pump unit. We have a Cool Cat and it easily handles our 15' of living space and lives tucked under the bench, driver's side of the trailer. If your Bluetti system can power the a/c, I have to ask for how long? Is there an outside plug where you can recharge your Bluetti from shore power? Given the under carriage clearance when you were pointing out the drain pipes, could you have considered running both tanks into one outlet and placing that further back towards the leading edge of your wheels? You didn't mention the size of the gray water holding tanks - if you are at a camp ground with sewer yep you can run the sewer hose open but what about when there is no sewer connection? No stabilizers and looks like no spare on the camper so assume you carry it in your truck bed. With this design, I would be curious to the tongue weight and your true loaded weight. None of my comments are meant as criticism but are simply questions from someone who has spent a heck of a lot of time in a small camper on months long trips. The one safety concern is that propane bottle inside. Safe travels.

What did you do underneath the trailer we have a couple cargo trailers for our company and keeping pests out is very important and we have significantly less intrusions into the floor and I'm sure you do ? Nice first thought build. I would build another and use every piece that us added to serve dual and triple purposes. My trailer is built every thing has muitlple purposes and design is so it is stealthy and light weight and spent around 35k total with 2200 watts of solar and 24v 600 amh of lithium. Solar is used to help cool the roof and side solar as window bird wing awning. The 24v ac condenser fan is mount on the front and at postion to move air under panels that that have 2 in gap to roof and the Ac drain is used for recycling to fresh water tank. The 24v fridge and the 110v hot water heater all all used to where I only turn on converter when cooking with induction cook top which is in a draw that slides out when in use and the converter heats up water for shower or sink in less than 10 minutes and turned off to keep from drawing power from converter during idle. The floors i have trap doors that use for storage and my 24v diesel heater is ducted and mounted in floor. I have way more going on but everything was thought out over days and critical thinking was my main goal to light weight energy efficiency and dual and triple purposes. I don't ever have to plug in and completely off grid even in the cloudy days and the hottest summer days live in comfort

😩 imagine someone lock u down from outside, that’s too scary. The ac is great but it’s too big and usually should be down somewhere. Everyone do the way they want, that’s fine . But the door lock from outside looks scary if u don’t have another exit in case if someone lock it 😢

What brand is the ventless on demand water heater? I need one to replace the one that stopped working in my bathroom. Thank you.

You need something between the sink and the couch to keep water off the material & mattress.

I plan to do the same with my eco flow for power. I’ve not seen anyone use them this way before and was wondering if anyone had.

Yeah, honestly to avoid the headache of regular solar set up, I think this is a phenomenal solution! They’re such easy units to use and I find them pretty effective for what I need ☺️

Can you keep it attached to the pickup all the time? Or it’s better to level it when you are parked?

Great build it looks awesome. Have you thought about a tankless water heater? They take up hardly any room..

Thank you, I really appreciate that! I think I did look into them but I think running the water the way I wanted just wasn’t going to be exactly what I wanted. I really like my water heater ☺️

Wait, a trailer costs $10,000 now???? Back when I was doing this kind of stuff, I bought a year 2000 or so cargo van, in GOOD shape, for $3,200!! So my whole build cost $12,500 and I think that included buying tools
