In my opinion, Whitney's chest voice was like a clear lake with no ripples. Just perfect. And her falsetto or head voice, you better back the hell up. No one, not even Aretha or her mama, can match the control Whitney had over her falsetto. The woman is the Voice - this was a clip of the young voice knocking on the door to let you know she's coming.

THIS Arista performance may be the most KNOWN version of this song Whitney has done but I urge you to check out the link below. She did this 10 minute concert version about 2 years after the Arista version and it is vastly superior in terms of intensity, power and velocity. It is easily the greatest (and most exhausting) live vocal performance of her entire career; and quite possibly the greatest live vocal performance of all time, from any singer! It is AMAZING. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKe6laGfotaam6M

I'll disagree on the vocal range and pitch, but what made Whitney THE Voice was the way she connected with the lyrics and could emote like no other singer could. There will never be a singer who had a voice as rich, smooth and expressive like Whitney.
@joeg61145 ай бұрын
Patently false. Mariah carey is the single greatest singer we have very had by every single technical metric. Her range on both the low and high ends are greater than whitney. She was more capable wirh melisma (agility). Her tone was better. She had an actual vibrato unlike whitney gospel jaw houston. The list goes on. The delusion kf whitney fans is unparalleled. She was great. Not the best. Frankly celine is better too.

Her range was ridiculously high in the 80s! This whole song was sung in the 5th and 6th octave!

Yeah she was using a lighter mix to get to higher range. I think her lifestyle made her lose that range in the 90s and also in the 90s she sang with more power which could have also affected her range but her tone made her voice stand out regardless of loss of the range.

@@somebodyouloveLol what mix???? her voice was extremely highhh in the 80s
@somebodyoulove Жыл бұрын
@@diorrboyyyy yeah so there are different registers to singing. Singing in the mix register makes it easier for singers to access higher notes. Whitney used a more chestier approach to mixing in her later years. In her earlier years it was more balanced(between head and chest)/heady approach. So the approach she used in accessing higher registers in the 80s was lighter than the 90s. The 90s mix had a more darker quality to it. Hope this is clearer to you. Her voice wasn’t a light voice. She just used a lighter mix in the 80s in comparison to the 90s.

It is truly epic in scale and totally different from the version here in the blue dress. She performed it in a stadium and she gave it everything she had and more. Her band did an amazing job supplying the suspense and drama to match her COLLOSSAL vocals. MUST LISTEN for any Whitney fan. Be sure to wear headphones. Your speaker phone won't do justice. This is an EXPERIENCE that demands your full uninterrupted attention (of 12 mins) Plz leave a comment either here or on the video itself. I'd love to know your reaction.

She's captivating, even before she opens her mouth, because she's so gorgeous... But look out once she belts the first note it's a wrap.

I can sing. Most of the negative comments are from ppl who can not sing, no matter how hard they try. They don't get what it takes to sound this way. When you're a singer or have any talent in singing you recognize a good voice. This is why Whitney Houston is so respected by the most "TALENTED" celebrities.
