Nancy, what solace I found in your video this morning. Your words really resonated with me. I always look at the cup has half full (or as I like to say, I have water!) You breached this subject in a very thoughtful, respectful manner. Thank you. My grandmother died in 2018. Our political turmoil was already in the works at that point. She had said to me: "This whole feeling in the US and the world...this is how it felt in the years leading up to WWII." That's stuck with me as I watch everything here and elsewhere crumble. It says something about how far-removed the politicians are from the people when these are our two options. And the medial is no help. The media likes to set everything on fire. It's not just here. It's happening in so many countries. But you feel between a rock and a hard place. When election time comes, I don't know what the hells I'm going to do. I'm determined to vote but, damn, I don't know what I'm going to do.

Tracing the thread of history - especially the history one has lived through - seems to show new terrors but as the Who said, they're the same as the old ones. I find myself reeling at the way some of the young'uns have created their own explanations of what happened in the past - basically retconning history to align with their own beliefs. Thing is, what they claim happened sharply contradicts what I actually lived through. Whew.

Thank you so much for sharing your feelings..... You are right, nothing is the same anymore. I live in Canada and have friends in the UK and Ireland and we are all feeling like you. Heartbroken for what our Countries have become.. I am sure there is a very big lesson in this for the world, I just it was easily seen and something could be done. Again thank you for your thoughts and putting them out there. It is nice to know there are others that feel the same way you do. Have a blessed day.

We are all overwhelmed and shel shocked over our state of affairs. It’s not just us either. The struggles are real for human rights all around the world. It is heart breaking I certainly feel it deeply too. We have no choice but to keep walking forward. When I’m really low I read Amanda Gormans Inauguration poem The Hill We Climb and I have to feel inspired by the hopes and dreams of the worlds youth who need a vision and dream to hold onto. I hold onto this.

I'm not an American, so I don't know why I watched the debate. But I did. I was left wondering how these two men were the best their respective parties had to offer. How on Earth either of them could be trusted to lead the most powerful country in the world. And it made me afraid.

Oh, Nancy 😢 I couldn’t bring myself to watch the debate last night. I try to stay as far away from politics as possible. But, like you said, it’s also important to stay informed and stay current. I also don’t know what the answers are. Even though I’ve resided in Canada for almost 21 years now, my roots are in the USA 🇺🇸 as that’s where I was born and raised. I have felt the “American pride” dwindling over the years. Especially now. And that breaks my heart too. 💔 I don’t have answers but I do have a whole lotta love. 💕 Just wanted to leave you a comment to let you know you aren’t alone in your brokenheartedness. 💔 Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 🌹

Nancy I had the exact same reaction, and I too am heartbroken...but...hang in there...what is suppose to happen will. I have had a blessed life too...but not everyone in this country has had the same opportunities that I have had. So...for me...looking back I see a very sweet life, with a really positive American experience! When I look at things now, I don't feel that same kind of positivity...but...I am hoping that what we are feeling is a leveling out of things for all Americans. This might be the necessary chaos needed to finally make things equal for all. I think, after last night's debate EVERYONE is feeling pretty uneasy. In fact, I am feeling a unity in the collective today that I haven't felt in a long time. EVERYONE is saying...how did we get here? How we go forward is entirely up to us! Do we go forward with a common goal or do we continue to fracture? I vote for the common goal even if it isn't what we remember from the past. I love you Nancy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

Hi beautiful Nancy, I avoided watching the debate. My husband had it on the t.v. and I decided I didn’t want to engage in the negativity that tends to come with it. I sat outside on the front porch surrounded by Mother Nature and to make a video instead. I agree with you politics is a personal choice for each of us. Dear Nancy the best advice I have heard, and it was a FB post from an American Chief from Old and He Said Love is the best thing. So In meditation Send love out to your American Brothers and Sisters, Love out to the people in the world who are at war, both sides because there are victims from both side. I don't feel I have a right to advise on your politics being Australian but I also do worry for you because who do you choose. i will help your country by sending love and hope, I trust that it will be okay☺💖

I didn't want to watch the "debate" because I knew Trump would lie and I feel as though Biden really shuts down when he is confronted with Trump's caustic personality. Biden is a very old-school politician and is used to decades of service with civility from and toward his peers. It is an unfortunate situation (to say the least) that we Americans find ourselves in. I think a confluence of factors all came together to put us here. I think what's really sad is that despite Trump facing Federal Election Interference convictions, Georgia Election Interference convictions, and the Classified Documents trial, and being convicted by a unanimous jury for falsifying business records in connection with a payoff to a porn star (which makes him a felon), AND E. Jean Carroll was awarded millions after a jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse, after all this, Trump is not also being asked to step down by Republicans.

I didn't watch the debate because I've seen the last 40+ years of political seasons. Nothing changes. It's always down to choosing the lesser of two evils. We don't have a two party system - in a free country there are naturally more than two parties offering solutions - but it's been hammered into the populace to the degree that Ron Paul changed from Libertarian to Republican and Bernie Sanders changed from Independent to Democrat to have a shot at winning but both were shouted down and discounted. Their third party roots showed, meaning they might make actual change so...they were out. The republic is rigged. They aren't even trying to hide it now. I can't believe dems and repubs truly think that the candidates they backed last night are the only ones available. We know it's not true, THEY know it's not true. I often wonder what kind of world we'd be in right now if the popular vote had been honoured, giving us Al Gore in 2000 or Hillary Clinton in 2016. Philosophers know that there's nothing new under the sun and while America's future has gotten a lot bleaker in the past 10 years, we go one day at a time. We will get through whatever this corruption slings at us. Take heart.
