Leon Russell wrote the song, and Richard arranged it to fit Karen’s voice. Thank you for giving the song the listen that it deserves without interruption, then reacting to it. Wish more reactors would do it this way.

@@NAIATHEDRAGON ok.listen with our ears to this! "Leon Russell wrote the song to be performed by Rita Coolidge, the first recording of the song was sung by Leon Russell" regardless of how it was arranged by Richard, it is important to credit Leon with also debuting and singing the song on his original album..the end..lol

We love the Carpenters, they really knew how to work together very talented. It is so sad that she had so much heartache in her life. Very smooth!

Thank you for such an honest and great reaction. And thank you for letting it play all the way through and then provide an exceptional overview and feeling. What surprises me is not one person reacting to this song says anything about the best saxophone solo ever recorded. Thanks again non industry person.

Favorite ...I just msg'd the same thing. I mean I love every word that comes outta this beautiful woman's voice...but the last couple times I've heard this ..I was thinking that this is maybe my all time fav! So good taste!! How bout this ..saw my most favorite singer of all time in 74!! 😂😅.....and I was crying. I was a lil boy and felt ashamed becuz of it. Like my father made me feel every second of the day. My sister died at 38, hospitals fault and had the voice of Karen Carpenter. She didn't have the confidence to go all out. And then she died, like Karen.

That must be the best part of growing up in the ‘60s-‘70s. The sense of freedom that we had to explore ourselves and the world around us.

You did an extraordinary reaction with this song. This song is also the first time I hear it. Where have I been? Karen has the most addictive voice ever. I have since gone into the Carpenters music catalog due to hearing this beautiful lyrically written song. Mind you, I am only 26 years old. I spend an entire day listening to the music of the 70s. That decade has the best music that I have ever heard in my life. The writing was truly one of a kind. Thank you for sharing.

Really good point about not a lot of singers being able to sing like that. Karen was right on-pitch with no auto-tune. Nice reaction.

The Carpenters were one of my favorite singers of the 70s. I was in my early 20s then & wow do I miss those days & those voices. Tysm for playing them & I love your reactions. I literally get the "chills" watching & listening.🎵🎶🎼🤗💖❤❤❤

I wasn't familiar with this song until recently. It wasn't on thr Carpenter's Greatest Hits LP that I used to listen to on my little portable record player in the early 80s. But it is fast becoming my favorite Carpenters song.

The only singers on all Carpenters albums except 1 was Karen and Richard. They sang the background parts from 3 to 30 times and overdubbed all the tracks to the master (a trick Richard learned from Les Paul and Mary Ford).

You will never hear songs like that again and it's sad, but at least we have the songs from the past and maybe one day they can bring it back, they don't have the song writers and music like they did back then.

She had one of the purist and most beautiful voices on the planet. You’re right they’re very few and far between. Whitney Houston one of those. Why do they have to go so early. Karen was only 33. Whitney was only 48. On the other spectrum male singers. In my opinion, Barry Manilow has one of the most beautiful and pure voices, and Michael Bolton is another one.
