Basically, the Fate Franchise isn’t 1 long running story. There are multiple timelines. Kinda like in franchises like Marvel, where you can see different ‘what ifs’ and stuff. There are also characters that cross-over. In other words, it’s a multi-verse kind of thing. There are also multiple adaptations of Fate/Stay Night alone, which is why there was a bunch of openings for it. There was an anime adaptation of the original visual novel game in the 2000s, then another adaptation in the 2010s. It is important to know that the visual novel had different story routes you could go down, with different events and endings, so you get anime adaptations of the different possibilities. Oh and a non-spoiler basic concept of Fate: People summon Heroic Spirits from Earth’s history, mythology, legends and even fiction, and they battle it out, the reasons vary between stories, but usually it’s over a Holy Grail that can supposedly grant the winners wish. The servants are divided into classes, like Saber and Lancer, to hide who they are from the other servants, cause if they know who you are, they may know your story and therefore your weaknesses. The people with the crests are the ones who summon the Spirits and command them, working together to win. Some shows get complex with their stories but that is the VERY basic premise.

"So no one dies in the show, because we see all those characters fighting, and then coming back!" People who have played/read/watched anything Fate related: 😭😭😭 // Okay so these fate opening compilation videos/playlists all go about it differently, but this one it seems is going for story chronological order. 1. So we open with Fate/ Zero (prequel, about the 4th Holy Grail War) Starting 0:56. Also includes the cafe spinoff, which I literally learned existed for the first time just now. Then Fate/Stay Night ("Main" story, told over three routes, about the 5th Holy Grail War), Starting with 2. Fate (starting at 7:08), the first route, which exists in VN format only, then 3. Unlimited Blade Works (starting at 14:03), the second route, which exists in VN and anime format, and finally 4. Heaven's Feel (starting at 19:31), the third and final route, which is in the VN and 3 Movies. 5. After that, Hollow Ataraxia (starting at 22:53) (A sequel, which is temporally very weird so it takes place before during and after, technically, which is why everyone comes back and/or looks radically different). From there we get into spinoffs and alternate universes, and I leave the scope of what I 'know'. Watch Fate/Zero, then Unlimited Blade Works, and finally the three Heaven's Feel movies, and you'll have the main plot under your belt _and_ seen the best animation the series has to offer. From there you can branch out and get into other parts of the Fate franchise/universe/whatever

Fate/Stay Night is a visual novel with three routes that are as many 'parallel universes'. Each route has multiple anime adaptations, hence the large number of openings. And as a rule of thumb, people die when they are killed. It's just that they can always be brought back in a different timeline. Tsukihime technically isn't Fate, just one of the author Nasu's other works, but it fits somewhere in the multiverse. Kara no Kyoukai also belongs to that category.

Fate series has 7 main class servant and 6 extra class servant 1. Knight : Saber, Archer, and Lancer 2. Cavalry : Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker 3. Extra : Ruler, Avenger, Moon Cancer, Alter Ego, Foreigner, and Pretender (i don't know Saver include this class or not) I think Faker still include Pretender? I don't know And 7 main class has a higher class, namely is Grand Class The class that is a threat to earth is called Beast In Kaleid Linear, the magicians use the power of servants called "Class Card" or "Install" CMIIW

To understand FATE you only need to remember ONE THING: Is a multiverse with unlimited time lines, the ony FATEs trullly connected are FATE/Zero (Precuel) and FATE/Stay Night (Sequel, "Unlimited Blade Works" and "Heavens Feel" are the same story but with different events based on the characters choices, that's why the exact same characters appear), everything else is its own thing and can be watched even if you didn't watch any other FATE before.
@brakdanych4329
@brakdanych4329 5 ай бұрын
Even zero is not directly connected to stay night but they are set in very similar to each other timelines (there are multiple inconsistences between the description of the 4th grail war, like the relationship between kerry and saber or the confrontation between saber and gil at the end of the war) also the lord el melloi series and (to a slightly lesser degree) strange fake are set in a timeline that is quite simillar to the "main" one)

46:14 Dont even try to assume that thers only one blond chick in fate series! Just like in real life lol. There are identically looking characters that are actually two different persons, and many other characters (specially in FGO) who look similar cuz they indeed are the same person (but they are mostly servants that were summoned in different classes)

It's always interesting to see what people get out of these without context, and fun to watch you enjoying the music! Other people have said this already but characters absolutely do die for real in this series - there's just a lot of characters who look similar, and sometimes there are alternate timelines where you see a different story happen with the same characters

Great reaction! I just want to clarify a few things; yes, there are a lot of different series which (usually) take place in parallel universes, with different characters (or sometimes different versions of the same characters). However, I want to highlight the "main" series which started it all; everything else is some kind of spin-off. The thing that started it all was the Visual Novel "Fate/stay night" from 2004 by Kinoko Nasu. Not sure if you're familiar with Visual Novels, but this one has 3 "Routes"; basically, three different ways the story could have gone. You start at the same starting point, and depending on your choices, you get put on one of the three routes (which have to be played in order btw); which are called: 1. Fate 2. Unlimited Bladeworks (or UBW for short) 3. Heaven's Feel All of these have anime adaptations (of varying quality)! Then there is the sequel to the Visual Novel Fate/stay night: another Visual Novel called "Fate/hollow ataraxia". There is no anime adaptation for this one, so feel free to ignore it for now! And lastly, for the main series, there is a prequel (Light Novel and anime) called "Fate/Zero". This takes place 10 years before the events of Fate/stay night, but came out later (and was written by a different author, Gen Urobuchi). Everything else is some kind of spin-off! Some of which are very good, some eh... Assuming you don't want to play the Fate/stay night Visual Novel, the question what to watch first is a contested topic! So I won't go into it here (unless you want to know more). I just wish that ufotable would remake the Fate route anime; that would instantly end all discussions on what to watch first! Oh, and it seems that one Opening was missing; the first Opening of Fate/stay night UBW (I think it's called "Ideal White"). It only showd the second (and more popular) opening of UBW ("Brave Shine" by aimer).

I'll attempt to explain what those openings were about as briefly as possible and without spoilers: First, Fate and Tsukihime are two different franchises from the same author, but they are set in the same universe and share some commonalities. Fate is the more popular one that sprung multiple spin-offs. While Fate focuses on magic, Tsukihime has a darker tone and focuses on vampires. Now, each branch of the Fate series is set in a different timeline, so you could call it a sort of multiverse. The basic concept is: modern day mages summon heroes from real world history and myth to fight in a battle royale and the winner gets the Holy Grail, which can grant any wish. Each series is about a different Holy Grail War and they are set in different countries and time periods with (mostly) different characters. The original one is Fate/stay night, which is set in Japan. Fate/Zero is its prequel and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia is its direct sequel. Fate/Apocrypha is set in Romania. Fate/Extra and Fate/Extella are set in a virtual reality created to replicate the Holy Grail War. Fate/kaleid liner is an alternate timeline where the main characters are magical girls (just like Sailor Moon) Lord El-Melloi II case files has no Holy Grail War, but it focuses on a Fate/Zero character who in later years became a sort of mage detective in London. Fate/Grand Order involves time travel and is set in multiple time periods of historical importance (yes, just like Assassin's Creed) Carnival Phantasm is a comedy crossover of Fate and Tsukihime. I think the only one missing is Fate/samurai remnant, which is set in feudal Japan, and they will soon release Fate/strange fake, which is set in the United States. And I think that's pretty much it. By the way, about half of those openings were from games rather than anime adaptations.

You pretty much nailed FGO when you watched the babylonia trailer. Since you only saw the openings but not the trailers of every singularity it might be hard to figure it out but the first half is pretty much somewhat "traveling" around differents time periods around the world to "fix it". Second part (cosmos in the lostbelt) is pretty much the same, but on a more complex level since they are "what if" scenarios. The MC is pretty much the last hope of humanity, quite literally. 1:15:51 yes lol, and pretty sure she can be bigger. Most of Fate series does not have a continuity, other than the Fate Grand Orders, Zero/Stay night but reuses a lot of popular characters every now and then. Grand Order is like a compilation of most of the heroes, which are a lot.

1:08:50 big spoiler at this point in the story, they're destroying timelines that's a threat to Proper Human History. That's why the main protagonists look depressed, the worlds shouldn't exist but the people are still real. It also doesn't help that while they destroy the world, they make connections to the people as they carry their mission.

Original Fate is from a game visual novel that have 3 main story routes. some of them the OP are from games and some from different "routes" of the anime adaptation, Some are from manga and some from novels. So ofc theres a lot of same characters, characters do die a lot in this series. it is not one long continuation series like One piece or Naruto, most of the story happened in different universe or in today terms multiverse, and share similar character and concept, but most are not related to each other. I think it's pretty obvious how some of these are not related to each other for timeline continuation when the some of the arc animation is completely different like the magical girl one

Maybe the best way to get an idea what at least some big chunks of the franchise is about without getting much spoiler would be a video called "The Essentials of the Fate Series" (which was a special for the 3rd anniversary of the still running Gatcha Game (now in it's 8th year and still going strong) Fate/Grand Order. Let's break down a few things: The first and second openings are those of the 2011 anime adaptation of Fate/Zero by studio Ufotable. Fate/Zero was originally a 2006-2007 Light Novel (LN) series by Gen Urobuchi which served as prequel (technical a broad strokes prequel set in a slightly parallel world) to the 2004 Visual novel (VN) Fate/Stay Night. The third opening is the miniseries parody of Fate/Zero, Fate/Zero Cafe. Fate/Zero Cafe was 2012-2014 parody manga that got an adaptation of two anime episodes produced by Ufotabel in 2013 and 2016. As far as I remember those were only shown as shorts for other movies screenings of other TYPE MOON anime and in the physical TYPE MOON Cafe(s) and Ufotable Cafe in Japan. The fourth and 5th are openings of the Fate/Stay Night anime adaptation by studio Deen. Fate/Stay Night as a 2004 Visual novel had three different routes. Fate (focussing on the blond "Saber" class character (that basically became the mascot of the Franchise and the main character's ideals), Unlimited Bladeworks (focusing on the black haired girl with twin tails and on the struggle of the main character's ideals against reality), and Heaven's Feel (focussing on the purple haired girl and the main character adjusting his ideals). When Deen adapted it in 2006 they mainly choose to adapt the Fate route, but thought that other adaptations are unlikely so they included aspects of the the other two routes as well. The 6th opening is for the OVA Fate/Atay Night TV reproduction, basically a shorter compilation with some new animation made in preparation for Deen's adaptation of the Unlimited Bladeworks route (which was movie and thus has no opening). The 7th opening is the second opening of Ufotable's 2014/2015 adaptation of the Unlimited Bladeworks route (I don't know why the first one is missing in the playlist). The 8th opening is the opening for the Fate route in the PS Vita version of te Realta Nua version of the VN. The playlist does not include the original VN opening or the 2007 PS 2 port (now voiced) for Fate/Stay Night that was released under the name Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua (openings 1, 2, and 3 in your reaction). In 2012 a PS Vita version of Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua was released, now with different openings for each route with the animations for the openings provided by studio Ufotable. The 9th is for the Unlimited Bladeworks route of the 2012 PS Vita Realta Nua version and the 10th is the same for the Heaven's Feel route. It might be interesting to note that a few of the conclusions you have drawn here are (without giving spoilers) pretty accurate (and others aren't) Hollow Ataraxia is the sequel to all three routes of Fate/Stay Night (it is complicated ...). It was originally released in 2005 with the opening "ataraxia" by rhu and the "second opening" "hollow" by rhu (both not included in your playlist). In 2014 it got new, now fully voiced, release for PS vita and PC with openings animated by Ufotable and new openings by AIMER ("broKen NIGHT" (opening 11) and "holLow wORlD" (opening 12); there is also a ending song by AIMER. Opening 13 is for Today's Menue for the Emiya family. A 13 half length episode series released on monthly schedule from January 2018 to January 2019 by Ufotable. It is based on a still ongoing Manga by TAa that is similar to Hollow Ataraxia in setting (without it's more dramatic parts) in being more slice of life and in this case focused on cooking (even in the original Fate/Stay Night VN there were huge chunks about the main character cooking and it involved shopping for groceries etc.). Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya (Prisma Illya for short) is a magical girl spinn-off series taking place in it's own universe but still under the same world building rules and featuring some characters that appear in multiple series (as many Fate titles do) that was developed and written by Hiroshi Hiroyama (but with the series creator Nasu giving his OK and some slight influence). It started in 2007 and the manga is still ongoing. In 2013 Silver Link started to adapt the series (opening 14) in 2014 the second season (2wei from the German term zwei, for 2) was created (opening 15). It was followed in 2015 by 2wei Herz (opening 16). The fourth season is 3rei (from the German term drei, for 3) and it introduces the greater scope villains and in general gets more complicated (opening 17). The titles are partially in German because one of the main heroines is a German girl. The story was continued with two movies: Oath in the Snow (a flashback with a bit of framing devices) and Licht - The Nameless Girl which continues the story. Since they are movies, none of them has a traditional opening. Tsukihime is a series taking place in the same multiverse (called the Nasuvers after it's creator Kinoko Nasu), with the same set of world building rules and even some character overlap, but it is it's own thing and technically not part of Fate. Whereas Fate is about Heroic spirits Tsukihime is (to over simplify things) about vampires. Tsukime was the first work by Type Moon (the company founded by Kinoko Nasu and his friend and Illustrator Takashi Takeuchi), a VN released in 2000 as a fan work. It proved popular and ever since 2010 a remake was in the making and the first half (containing only two of 6 routes) of the remake was released in 2021. Once again the openings for these two routes are by studio Ufotable. Opening 21 is for Carnival Phantasm. This is the a 12 half-length episode + 1 special and one OVA parody series from 2011 and produced as part of TYPE MOON's 10the anniversary. It combines characters from Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime (another Nasuverse series) [and Fate/Zero and Hollow Ataraxia for the OVA], produced by studio Lerche. The opening song is called "Super Affection". Fate/Apocrypha is a series that started from the development of a computer game but instead became a light novel series written by Yuuichirou Higashide (under Nasu's supervision) from 2012 to 2014 and adapted into an anime by A-1 pictures in 2017 (openings 22 & 23). The people you called the "White Faction" (due to their "uniforms") ironically are named the "Black Faction" in the story. Apocrypha takes place in a different timeline to Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero so there is very little overlap in characters.

The Case Files of Lord El Melloi the second (opening 24) is a Mystery type story centered around London, following the development of one of Fate/Zeroes protagonists and takes place immediate before and during the very beginning of Fate/Stay Night, It was a light novel series by Makoto Sanda (under close supervision and guidance of Nasu) released from 2014 to 2019. It's third arc (out of 5) was adapted in 2019 by studio Troyca. The instrumental opening "starting the case: Rail Zeppelin" is composed by Yuki Kajiura (the head behind Kalafina and composer of great chunks of the Fate/Zero and Heaven's Feel movie soundtracks). There is a still ongoing follow-up series, The Adventures of Lord El Melloi II, which has no adaptation yet. Fate/Extra was the first entry into the EX part of Fate. The setting is a little different (and yes, technically on the moon and you were right in a digital space ...), though in greater scope it still fits in with other Nasuverse series and has many touching points. Fate Extra was a PSP game released in 2010. A remake (Fate/Extra record) is currently in the development. Fate/Extra CCC is (depending on the route) an interquell or alternate ending of Fate/Extra. It also was a PSP game released in 2013. The opening's song is (26) "Sakura Meikyū" by Kanon Wakeshima and it was animated by studio SHAFT. Opening 27 is for Fate/Extella, a 2017 musou type game that is a sequel to an alternative version of Fate/Extra. (The opening for r Fate/Extella Link, a more or less sequel to Fate/Extella from 2018 is missing in this playlist). Opening 25 is for Fate/Extra Last Encore, the distant sequel/alternative ending for Extra an anime by studio SHAFT which was adapted from a script by Nasu that was shaved down to ca. 1/3 of the original content. It has 10 episodes plus 3 OVA episodes for the finale. The opening theme is "Bright Burning Shout" by Takanori Nishikawa. Fate/Grand Order (FGO) is mobile gatcha game that started in 2015 and is still ongoing. Despite the gatcha aspect it features a lot of VN style story telling and it connects all parts of Fate and several other parts of the Nasuverse through it's own epic still ongoing storyline. The opening 28 is for the first part of FGO [which had 1.5 years of story content], the openings 29 and 30 are for part 2 ["Cosmos in the Lostbelt" spanning the time from 2018 to the present (we think currently another arc has started but it seems to be an interjection between the second half of part 2 and part 2's finale called "Ordeal Call" ...)] (there also was a another year of "part 1.5" "Epic of Remnant" that is like an extra OVA season since it is not essential to understand the main story, though still provides interesting additional information and perspectives). All these openings are from the game. The 31st and 32nd opening are the anime adaptation of the 7th main chapter of part 1 of FGO "Fate/Grand - Order Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia" (21 episodes running from 2019 to 2020) by CloverWorks. There are also other adaptations of other parts of FGO like the TV movie "Fate/Grand Order: First Order", the cinema release two movies adapting the 6th main chapter of part 1 ("Fate/Grand Order THE MOVIE - Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot - Wandering; Agateram" and "Fate/Grand Order THE MOVIE - Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot - Wandering; Agateram."), the sequel movie to Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia - "Fate/Grand Order: Final Singularity - Grand Temple of Time: Solomon" which adapts the last main story chapter of part 1. There are also some more shorts like the OVA style special "Fate/Grand Order: Moonlight/Lostroom" (that bridges part 1.5 and part 2), a new year's special with animated versions of the GUDAGUDA gang manga, or the series of short skits " Fate/Grand Order: Fujimaru Ritsuka Doesn't Get It". Learning with Manga! Fate/Grand Order is based on an ongoing gag manga series that started together with the mobile game Fate Grand Order in 2015 by Riyo. Originally it was was supposed to provide some parody comments on the game and teach players about the gameplay, thought that mission got left behind somewhere along the way. On 2018/19 (release on new year's) it got an adaptation as a 14 min anime by A-1 pictures (opening 33). For the 20th anniversary (2021) production of "sequel" series Fate/Grand Carnival started. It does contain characters from Fate/Grand Order (FGO) [and even the Neco-Arcs are dressed as other characters befitting their personalities]. It has 4 episodes so far and uses the same opening song, but this time sung by the VAs of some of the most prominent FGO characters (opening 34). And all this is just some of the animated openings. There are endlessly more game openings, teasers, short TV commercials with animation, Drama-CDs, manga, light novels and more for fate and other parts of the Nasuverse (like the Kara no Kiyoukai movies).

To simplify as much as possible: Fate/Zero (first two ops) - prequel anime to the ‘main story’. A good place to start, though you will be front loaded with a lot of information. Third op is comedy spin off of Zero. Fate Stay/Night (op 4-5) - 2007 adaption of the first route of the main story. Unfortunately dated, so even though it should be the ideal place to start fans tend to steer people away. FS/N Unlimited Blade Works (op 6) - anime adaption of the second main story route. Very good. FS/N Realta Nua (ops 7-9) - not from an anime but actually a remaster of the original visual novel. The three ops represent the three story routes. There is no op for it, but the third route has been adapted to anime via a series of three films. Fate Hollow/Ataraxia (ops 10-11) - also not an anime but another visual novel, this time a sort of sequel/addendum to the main visual novel. Emiya-San…. (Op 12) - slice of life spin off animefeaturing character from F/SN. Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Ilya (Op 13-16) - alternate timeline anime focused on a major side character from the main continuity (Ilya) as a magical girl. Features other characters from Stay/Night and Zero in supporting roles. Tsukihime (Op 17-18) -an adaption of another visual novel set in the same world as Fate. Not directly related, but some concepts from Tsukihime show up in Fate’s main timeline, particularly in parts of Zero. Carnival Phantasm (op 19 and the final op) - comedy spin off anime featuring both Fate and Tsukihime characters. Grand Phantasm was basically the same thing but with characters from Grand Order and later series. Fate/Apocrypha (op 20-21) - anime set in an alternate timeline past from the main story. There are some connectors but it’s largely it’s own thing. El Melloi (op 22) - spin off anime focused on a major character from Zero, set many years after. Fate Extra (op 23-24) - Extra is an RPG video game. The first OP is for the anime adaption of said game, Last Encore. The second is for a remaster of the game. It features some characters from the main story, but is it’s own story. Fate Extella (op 25) - another game op. Similar story except there’s no anime adaption for it. Fate Grand Order (basically the rest) - GO is a popular mobile game. It’s got it’s own story but many stay night characters return and their histories are further explored. There have been numerous anime adaptions based on stories from the game.

basically, if you want to start with the fate series, you start with 3 maybe 4 if you really want to watch the very first Fate Stay Night which was adapted by Studio Deen. the 3 other is Fate Zero, Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade works, and Fate Stay Night: Haven's feel which was adapted by Ufotable. Zero is a prequel After watching those, you can watch any spin-off in any order, it doesn't really matter.

Fate is a multiverses each show game ect. is pretty much there own universe even if they share events and details and lore in common. The main material is based on the various out come of the Visual Novel of Fate that inspired the whole franchise However the main franchise is these after the prequel of Zero theres 3 routes 3 different versions of the same story essentially with diverging events and focus on different characters pretty much each of the routes is the what if of which of the 3 main girls you decide to like romantically and other important decisions. Fate Zero : prequel Fate Stay Night: a bad adaptation adaptation of the route with Saber as the girl Fate unlimited blade works ab adaptation of Rin as the girl the mist popular one out of the routes for fans. Fate Stay night Heaven’s Feel 3 animated movies based on the route with Sakura as the girl a tragic one honestly Fate Hollow Ataraxia a kinda sequel to any route. There were this from other shows made by the same creator that link to fate like tsukihime. Other materials like Prisma Ilya are spin offs and what if’s Carnival Phantasm is a wacky nonsensical version where pretty much every character in the franchise and every show related to Fates creator hang out and do some crazy things for the heck and fun of it like everyone in a carnival of a world. That black hole / sun thing you keep seeing in opening ls is pretty much the plot device for almost every fate story to reach it its closer to a black hole its pretty much a dimensional gate to the primordial root of all that is. Theres a LOT ! when it comes to this franchise.

"What is with japan naming things German?" The answer is quite simple. When you live outside of America, you are taught history around the world. This includes prominent history in Germany and Russia, important countries that have been involved in war and great cultural changes and improvement. Even China and Japan and Korea have copied Germany and Russia to some extent such as elements or style of their patriotic songs.
