I think the reason why we haven't seen Prime 2 and 3 yet is because Retiro Studios what those 2 Games to look as good like Prime Remaster I remember hearing something last year before we got Prime Remaster that they were trying to Remaster all 3 Games and release them as a trilogy but there wasn't enough time to finish them so they just released the first Prime Game so I think when we do finally see Prime 2 and 3 they will look just as good as Prime Remaster.

Prime 2 can have the same treatment as Prime 1 as both 1 and 2 are Gamecube games. However Prime 3 as it's a Wii game doesn't need as much improvement. Prime 3 could get the Skyward Sword HD treatment and match Prime 1 and 2 Remastered. I know Nintendo is not going to have all 4 Primes released and their quality be all over the place.

I believe Nintendo is planning on properly reviving Metroid and making it a much larger IP, making it reach the likes of Animal Crossing or even Zelda. Prime 4 will for sure be cross gen title, but I’m guessing the switch 2 will launch with a new 3D Mario or Kart alongside it to push system sales. Mario sells consoles, and if Metroid is the only other title on it, it could rise a lot more in popularity.

Thank you for acknowledging that it would take a significant amount of work to actually make the Switch 2 version look like a real leap ahead. A big part of what makes a game look a generation ahead, is the geometry, and it's so unlikely they're going to improve the geometry on the Switch 2 version. It just isn't typically done. Even an ambitious upgrade that improves lighting, resolution, textures and particle effects, will still not look like a full generation leap forward because the geometry will be unlikely to change. It'll look great, but it won't be the Switch 2 showcase, that'll be all the other 1st and 3rd party games.

I just wish it was a pure Switch 2 game at this point. Nintendo doesn’t take advantage of extra horsepower to make cross gen games better, except for Mario Kart 8. BotW would have looked and ran so much better if it had been built from scratch on Switch. It suffered because it was designed around Wii U’s architecture, and it didn’t translate as well to Switch. TotK ran better because they made adjustments. I just hope Prime 4 can be as big, flashy and open as it should be, and isn’t held back for Switch.

Props for taking a solid stance on this one, but I believe MP4 will more likely be a next gen exclusive for three reasons: It bolsters launch window library, it will likely be the definitive launch title to showcase power, and lastly, it's nearing completion. On that third reason, I will expand: Because it's nearing completion the choice for Nintendo will be to either release it to a fading generation (doesn't matter that it was announced for Switch, games have been pushed back a generation before) or extend development time to up the ante for the next generation. Methinks the reason we didn't see a launch trailer a year ago is because Nintendo told Retro to polish the game with next generation specs for next generation hardware. I find it easy to believe that someone saw the performance of the game and whispered into an executive's ear "ya know, imagine what this would look like on the new hardware". And I stress that just because something was announced for one console does not mean that can change. People ridiculed it when a leaker claimed the new console was delayed; I argued that it's not ridiculous because something can be INTERNALLY delayed- and now that's the accepted narrative by and large. Plans change all the time, and I don't see MP4 being cross-gen or current gen. I see it being the or one of the defining launch window games for the next console.

You're wrong categorically. The launch will have the new 3D Mario as it's flagship title. Nintendo never, hell NO system's launch games show off the full power of a system it's not till half way through that you get to the best of a system lol. Nintendo does not care about "power" as a focal point. They have made that very PUBLICLY CLEAR FOR DECADES. Ignoring the Switch 1 is ignoring the biggest userbase Nintendo has ever had to release it only on a system with a ZERO userbase is about as brain dead as you can get. Also Metroid is not a system seller and never will be and that's FINE.

It definitely will be cross-gen. Same day release, I’m not sure. I’d guess holiday, probably October, release this year at $69.99. Then, probably $10 (at most) performance and feature patch to make it next-gen title for early adopters of the game along with a $10 season pass if story DLC is planned to expand things. Then, with the hype built up through the Switch launch in the holiday and reported upgrades, the game is re-released day 1 for Switch 2 at $69.99 with the performance patch natively in the purchase and the $10 season pass whether you get it physically or digitally, which would incentivize upgrading the hardware. That’s my guess. This is just a guess, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that’s the way it goes.

Now, I got had and offered my switch to my sister, believing TotK was a switch 2 title... I can dream, but I'd like a Metroid 1-3 remaster compilation on switch 2😁

I just think making it a cross gen title is the safest possibility because this way Switch owners won't feel betrayed by a game that was supposed to release during the Switch lifespan and Nintendo will capitalize on the title for the next console. It will beneficiate from better graphics as well.

I think too that MP4 will be a cross-gen release. If Nintendo keep it as a Switch 1 game and release the game after the Switch 2 launch they can have the same problem of Samus Returns, where players wanted The game on the new system and Nintendo didn't offer, and that greatly affected the game sales. Keep the game on Switch 1 only probably would not affect on the same level as the 3DS did for Samus Returns, but surely would reduce the potencial sales of the game, and reach as many players as possible should be the focus for Nintendo and this franchise.

A comparison from cube to wii, which was still the same architecture, and wii u to switch, which was terascale to fricking maxwell.... its a really really bad comparison that is just wrong in every conceivable way. Even if we put switch and wii u at the same peak theoretical performance, which, they arent, it took terascale2 4 clock cycles to process 1 32 thread warp. (Think of that as doing math on a group of 32 pixels), while switches maxwell could do 4 32 thread warps in one clock cycle.

Yo, no way is the Switch 2 gonna launch with Metroid Prime 4 as some cross-gen title. That's just not how Nintendo rolls. They've always kicked off new consoles with fresh, exclusive games, and the Switch 2's gonna be no different. Think about it - Nintendo's all about giving us a unique experience with every new console. The dev teams have had plenty of time and resources to cook up something special just for the Switch 2. Ain't no need for cross-gen titles when they've got the goods to deliver a killer lineup right out the gate. Saying they're gonna drop cross-gen games is just straight-up wrong. Nintendo's always made sure each console has its own identity with exclusive titles. Sure, maybe some old games will get updates, but the real focus is gonna be on new, exclusive games that show off what the Switch 2 can really do. I'm going to skip this video cause we have been over this subject a hundred billion times lol. I shall for the final time state my view. Prime 4 is a Switch 1 exclusive and with backwards compatibility on Switch 2, all four Primes will be playable on both systems anyway. Also Nintendo has never done cross gen where the newer system's version is actually "better" BOTW on Switch was slightly better at load times and that's it... TP on Wii was the same as the Gamecube version except the map was mirror for whatever reason, and I think they swapped the sword being in Link's other hand on the Wii cause of the motion controls and most people being right handed. So Prime 4 being cross gen makes no sense, the game would be identical outside of maybe faster load times lol, Nintendo doesn't like dividing up their users and releasing a lesser version and better version. That's anti-consumer. Also TP and BOTW were cross gen cause Zelda is a system seller where Metroid is not. Also both the Gamecube and Wii U failed....so they needed a strong system seller from their failed system to boost the next system. Switch is NOT a failure so cross gen makes no sense. There is no logical benefit to it except for pleasing those who are like I want the game to be SUPER UBER SHINY AND OMFG AMAZING VISUALS!!!! It's Retro Studios, they make everything look amazing. It could run on N64 and be amazing.

The game needs to sell at least 5 million copies to be profitable, that's a lot for a Prime entrie. Prime Remastered shadow dropping was a clever way to see how many copies you can sell without publicity and the results weren't satisfactory. If you look back, Metroid games used to have a lot of publicity, expensive publicity, with live action tv commercials and ads in magazines. Now, the strategy will be al little bit different.

@@setokaiba914 Mike Wikan, Senior Designer of Metroid Prime Trilogy said to KiwiTalkz that the game will have a budget of 150-200 millions dollars aprox. He has a budget formula: 2.5 million units equates to 100 million profit (After fees). A 39 person studio is about 6-10 million dlrs a year to run. Retro Studios has about 190 employees which equates to about 30-34 million per year to run the studio. Over 5 years, that's 150 millions of dollars, plus the 2 years with Namco and outsourcing and contractors the budget is increasing.

@eljuli1003 . Prime Remastered is kinda meh in terms of how it sold. It quickly got 1 million copies but then hit a plateau. It'd have been interesting to see how it'd have done with good marketing. I think if we start to see a strong marketing campaign for Prime 4 I'd be optimistic for reasonably good sales, though I don't see the Metroid plateau being smashed like how BOTW smashed the Zelda plateau.

Nope....u r using sony n xbox sensibility for nintendo. I was convinced it was going to be a launch title for next gen but I think it make sense that metroid doesn't really sell gangbusters so the will release ot for switch probably before they even announce next gen it's a waste of resources to build a second version of a game for a system if it's back compatible. U are using zelda tp and botw as examples but leaving out how much of a failure the predecessors were to nintendo
