As an RN of over 2 decades, I 💯 support your statements on this subject! If folks don't like it, it's a "them problem". The most you can say about a recipe is you can make this lower sugar/fat/salt by doing xyz. That's not medical advice, just an alteration. Keep being your fabulous self! ❤

First, you owe no apology. You are wise not to advise medically❤, and people should not ask you to. You are correct to think you could be liable as someone will come back and say you told them to do such and such. I am an RN and people ask me medical stuff all the time and I refer them to their physician. I cannot give medical advice. Heck, I suspect doctors quit talking to patients because they know if something goes contrary they are subject to being sued. Thank you for sharing your expertise, cooking (love that oil-free chicken). You are doing the right thing. When you help people it sometimes bites you in the arse because some will hold you responsible. Thank you for all the good advice you offer freely from your arsenal of research and experience.❤

Ms. Pam, I've learned the hard way, that sometimes the saying, "no good deed gets left unpunished." - that's not always the case, of course. I'm in healthcare & people ask me questions like they've asked you. I've gotten in trouble - for what I consider petty stuff. Such as putting my hand on a patient's shoulder. I can help patients remove their clothes to do an EKG, but otherwise no touching! - I get it. The patient was crying and I put my hand on her shoulder. That could be an unwanted touch (the patient didn't complain - but someone saw it and reported it.) I had to apologize & never do it again. Dear lord help us in the med community. I know you are not in the med part- and you probably do know the answers to med questions. EVERYONE IS SO SENSITIVE these days. It's such a fine line- it'll make you lose your mind. You're amazing! You are a true gem. You just keep doing Pam, and the good lord will guide you. As you well know. God bless you Ms. Pam. You're a treasure ❤

@@karascene13 As a retired RN it is sad comfort cannot be.providef to patients. I guess that is why many doctors will not touch you. Exams are hands-off now. Too bad because a lot can be learned by palpating (touching). Touch can be soothing and healing. It goes without saying that one should not ask or expect medical advice from a cooking show, but many today are entitled and will be the first to want to sue when things do not turn out as expected. I am a southern scratch cook, and have learned from Ms. Pam, and appreciate her advice and wisdom. No one is too old to learn. If one needs medical advice, research medical sources!

I just had to comment on your apology. First of all, I can tell that you are a most gracious, refined and elegant woman and your viewers are drawn to those qualities. When I see your videos, I am reminded of values that are rooted in timeless traditions and that is rare these days. You are like a friend, an auntie, and even a grandmother that had words of wisdom who made you feel cared about! And although your cooking skills are so admirable and full of information, that is not the primary reason I tune in. I just love the comfort you bring to me in a harsh world where being a true friend went out of style a long time ago. You are like an anchor in a tempest and whether we realize it or not, just the sound of your voice is soothing and mesmerizing. It's just such a good feeling to view your videos and learn so much and in such a joyous way. You are someone many of us would like to call our "friend". You need never apologize for what you are not qualified to do for your viewers, but I can understand why they feel like you could help them. You are a fountain of knowledge! And I loved when you said that you "could" have answers and that's why your family is so healthy, but you are not at liberty to dispense advise. Thank you for your honesty. There are many charlatans out there who do not care about the repercussions of their words regarding health and they do damage. It is good that you made this video and clarified to some viewers about what you can and cannot do without opening yourself up to libel. You had to make that known. You just don't have to apologize for it. Miss Pam, I would be proud to call you my friend and I look forward to your words of wisdom, your cooking and homemaking tips, and I love that you turn to prayer whenever you have a thoughtful decision to make. You set out to help people AND YOU DO!!

Please hand me (whatever it was)." The man then said, "Ok, Your Majesty.", in sort of an annoyed tone, like I offended him. Then I didn't know what to say. I feel like I offended him twice. So I just stayed quiet. I'm still gonna use my manners even if people are weird. I was raised with manners. When I was a child all grown-ups' first names were Mr., Mrs., Ms., or Miss. I'm 60 now and have only ever had one friend's children call me Mrs. and that was over 30 years ago. I liked it.

You are one of those people that if we lived close, I know we could be good friends (I’m from the Deep South). The instinct that you have to feel the need to apologize shows how good your heart is. You did the right thing by telling them what you did and if they can’t give you a simple “thank you” for responding to them, then I really feel they don’t deserve the concerns that it has brought to you. I was told once to do the right thing and let God take care of the rest. I try to live by that and it’s helped. Sending hugs and prayers from Ohio.

No apology needed, you’re a wealth of information on what you do know, and we’re glad you share it. Thank you Pam. You are right in being cautious on questions that are not your forte. It’s better not to speak on those things. The Lord bless you. ❤

I found out about your channel through Anne Dale. She speaks so highly of you as does Sherrie at Black's Tropical Homestead. I have only watched a handful of your videos but enjoyed them very much. I love that you always give God the glory in all that you do. Now, as for people that ask for help with diet and nutrition, it is quite obvious that you have built a lot of trust with your audience. In this day and age, people no longer trust doctors or people in authority in general. To be able to say that you have gained their trust is monumental. The fact that people no longer trust modern medicine and have begun to move more towards a lifestyle like our forefathers likely speaks to the reasons why you are getting these questions. When modern pharmaceuticals do more harm than good, people begin to look for alternative ways to help heal their bodies. They are beginning to realize that the plants God put on this earth are here for a reason and that they have medicinal properties. They are learning that they can often heal their bodies naturally or use natural resources in tandem with modern medicine and be healthier than with modern medicine alone. The problem is that 80-90% of modern physicians refuse to acknowledge this symbiosis. They refuse to even hear their patients when natural remedies or alternatives are suggested. To tell them to seek medical advice gets them nowhere if what they are seeking is trusted natural health advice. I understand why you felt the need to take the stance you have taken. I do. However, as a person who understands where this world is headed and knowing that self-sufficiency and the ability to care for and treat my own ailments is of utmost importance, I also know that I need to seek out those people who have the knowledge and that I can trust, to guide me and help me find what works for me. When you find someone who has knowledge (or you believe that they may know what you are seeking) and you trust them enough to ask for help, it can be extremely disheartening to be told to go talk to the doctor when they are the ones giving you medication that's keeping you sick or that you're trying to get off of. Many channels that I have seen who give natural health information simply give a disclaimer that they are not medical professionals, that their listeners need to do their own research, and that they should check with their doctor or pharmacist to make sure whatever they are going to do or try is safe for them. If the source you are using does not issue some sort of disclaimer of that nature, you should never trust them. It's that simple. Offering recipes that "may be beneficial for Some ____" (fill in the blank: diabetics, hbp, high cholesterol, etc) would be helpful for some but would also not open you up to liability. However, I would never presume to tell you what you should or should not do. I am simply offering a different perspective on the subject. I love reading your daily affirmations/ scriptures that you post. Thank you 😊

I have learned so much from you and I appreciate your knowledge. I don’t believe you owe anyone an apology. It is presumptuous if anyone to ask you for medical advice or information. Thank you for your kind heart and your willingness to share your tips and recipes. You are an amazing lady! ❤️❤️❤️

This is a cooking channel. That’s the disclaimer! No apologies needed. You cook and give helpful tips. Chef Pam, don’t let those people change the intent of your channel. There are many who are blessed by what you do. Those who need more than what you’re teaching and offering, they can change to another channel and govern themselves.

You have such a calming presence, and I just love listening to you share your thoughts and wisdom. Thank you! With regards to these bizarre questions and requests, you may (sadly) have to write a disclaimer on your channel. Never once did I think you were here to solve the world's problems. You give great cooking advice, and that's why most of us are here. Sending ❤ and hugs from Wisconsin!

Hello Pam! You have a great cooking channel, and I'm sorry some people saw your kindness and helpfulness as a home chef to also be a health coach. (I hope that makes sense.) Your love for our Saviour Jesus is what brings me back for another episode, along with your kitchen tips. ❤

Good afternoon Pam. I’m from the U.K. and subscribe to your Channel. You are a wonderful, charming , honest person and a breath of fresh air and everything you present in your videos are produced with love, care and dedication and it comes from the heart! So in response to this video, you really do not have to apologise as anyone can see you are a sensible practical person talking common sense. But I think we all understand you just wanted to make your position clear to all asking various ‘health’ questions, and l for one agree with why you felt you had to say what you did ie you are not a medical expert. You’re like a true friend and we love and appreciate everything you share with us. Thank you and Keep up with your good work. ✨🙏✨

You have answered these questions in the right way. You've handled it in an honest way. People do not realize you can be held liable if you gave advice concerning health issues and diet. I was a pharmacy tech for 15 years....when customers ask about OTC meds to take for a cold, etc. I could not give them advice... the pharmacist could. He was insured and trained. There is no need for an apology. People need to consult their physician. God Bless You Keep on doing what your doing and sharing your knowledge. ♥️

I guess another way to say it is “I’m not qualified or certified to give the advice you’re asking for “. You are absolutely correct to stand firm in your decision on this. Im a newbie here and I’ve been so much enjoying you and your great recipes! But just like everyone else, if I know I shouldn’t be eating that, no matter how wonderful it looks, I am the one responsible for my health and foods I eat. Keep bringing us your sunshine sister! Im sorry it had bothered your heart about this, but you are very wise to address it. I wish we were neighbors! You seem like a very nice, strong and sweet lady! God bless you Pam!

As a subscriber to your channel, I would never ask you for medical advice but thru my own journey I will share in the comments some things that have benefited me personally. And I am thankful for their sharing. ie The utilization of IODIZED salt for seasoning contributes to the proper functioning of your Thyroid. Today’s generation is just unaware of the medical importance of Iodized Salt in your diet.
