My spacefaring totem animal would be the tardigrade, I think. Supremely survivable in case of any oopsies in vacuum. Though if intelligence is also proportional to the animal, then maybe I'd go for being a crow or elephant. If build-a-bear chimera mashup, probably an elephant's head on a tardigrade body. XD And then find and enlist/subjugate a mantis shrimp based race to serve as our janissaries in exchange for fish. >:)
