I actually finished reading I Am the Messenger two days ago and I loved it so much, I also loved the ending, it was great in my opinion and really inspired me! I liked Ed from the beginning, he's just the kind of character I like idk and I loved to see him grow, definitely a new favorite book for me 😊

He is a really great main character, and I'm glad you loved the ending too! Inspiring is a good word to describe the book, it really is about the changes we can all achieve in our society.

I read this before The Book Thief and loved it! I don’t remember the ending, so I may have to reread it. The Book Thief I thought was just ok.

I read them in that order too and also preferred I am the Messenger.

ooooh you're making me want to reread this one! I LOVED the ending! the major thing I remember being disappointed with was how generic Audrey was as a character, but I liked so much about the book

True, Audrey is quite a bland character and didn't leave much of an impression beyond her role in the plot of the book.

I read I Am the Messenger in 2007 and remembered liking it because the story and writing style were so completely different from The Book Thief. But I liked the latter more than the former.

They are so completely different, but both well written books.

​@DeathrowJS I was glued at first. A few of the scenarios were a little bizarre and didn't make much sense though. The ending was different, lol. But a little disappointing, I thought. Idk... it was still a subject of conversation...to spice up my time. I read it with a friend that doesn't appreciate fiction too much though. So that may have affected how I felt. Thanks for the prompt...because...I think its time for another fiction!
