@@jordanalonso6474 up block creates one of the most boring low skill 50/50 mindgames in any nrs game. Now only are anti airs significantly more rewarding and skill intensive, they create a mindgame around jump kick vs jump punch that has lots of nuance from matchup to matchup. Heres the mindgame Mk1: - Opponent jumps in Up block: - they do a jump normal: you get a free combo - they do empty jump: you are locked in recovery and can be punished with a throw for ~200+ Block: - they do a jump normal now you eat pressure - they do an empty jump, now you can try to guess again strike/throw Anti air: - they do a jump punch: you successfully anti air, you have to know your combo route for AA conversions. You feel like a god for a sec - they do a jump kick: harder to anti air but still possible. Also hard to trip guard. But usually less reward (on hit and block) on the opponents side for landing the jump kick so it evens out in fairness - they do empty jump expecting you to use lazy upblock mechanic and you poop on them This doesnt include things like this which all make upblock even less valuable of an option: - using movement to make jump in whiff - air to air - armored anti air - dash/run under And THEN you have flawless block, which was probably the best thing about mk11 other than the fact that you could do it on jailing normals. It required skill, meter, and it was timing dependent. You couldnt do it against everyone reliably, so it fit in with anti airs quite nicely. Flawless blocking typically encouraged the opponent to do late jump ins which are worse vs an anti airing opponent. Yes it whiffed in that situation. Kitanas up2 moves her back a little and doesnt have a great hitbox. You shouldnt try to FBu2 an NJK, there are other characters with similar issues but thats the same for anti airs, not everyone has a good one. Both antis and flawless create mingames with nuance from matchup to matchup but using upblock throws it all out for a basic watered down 50/50 that requires minimal brain activity. Sorry for reponding like this, i might be a little autistic
