@@mistofoles Quite true, but, in a more macro sense, encountering and being at the mercy of the fan from Hell seems awfully unlucky, and reactors have no idea what's to come, so it's still kind of funny.

Annie *does* accidentally knock over the drugged wine, not on purpose. If you read Stevey King books: the bad guys always have _good_ luck while the good guys anyways have _bad_ luck. (Which is *WAY* harder to write, of course!) It's one of the *many* things that makes King's writing so dang good!

In the book he only pretends to burn the book and actually publishes the Misery book. Because as you said it was the best thing he’d ever written because his life depended on it. So Annie Wilkes was the only fan who never got to find out what happened to misery.

Some fun facts: The movie was shot chronologically to build up the Tension between Kathy Bates and James Caan. It obviously worked. The director Rob Reiner has a cameo as the helicopter pilot. The role of Paul Sheldon was first offered to Jack Nicholson, who rejected it because he didn´t want to play in another movie based on Stephen King´s work.

This movie is so good. Contained environement films are a tough trick because it almost entirely rely on the small cast to pull it off without the luxury of travel or change of scenery, but here they absolutely did it. Kathy Bates and James Caan were both phenomenal. In the book, Annie Wilkes is from the get go presented as an unhinged psycho (the hobbling scene is with an axe and a blowtorch), but movie Annie is more nuanced with Bates going from moments of sweetness even being childish to going ballistic and thanks to Bates incredible performance, she's completely believable. In the Oscar she got for best actress, she apologised to Caan for his ankles 😂😂😂 Fun fact, the year after, she presented the Oscar for best actor to Anthony Hopkins for Hannibal Lecter. Richard Farnsworth and Frances Sternhagen (the sheriff and Virginia) were hilarious. They're only in the movie, not book characters, but it was a joy to see them on screen. It would have been so fun if they had made a movie or a tv show centered on those two being ironic one to another while solving crimes.

The way she responded to the fire in the BBQ pit when he threw a match on the book: What do you expect? 4. In the book Annie chops his feet off (not just hobbling him). It IS Stephen King after all. 5. Kathy Bates won Best Actress Oscar. 6. Rob Reiner is a great director but, it's too bad he's a CPF.😭🤬 7. King wrote this because of a deep-seated fear of what overzealous fans might do. 8. RIP James Caan 😇
