By the time this movie released Eddy was on top of the world. One of the most successful combination of movies in history of Hollywood by a single actor. 48 hours, Trading Places, and Beverly hills cop he dominated entertainment industry hosting award shows and making guest appearances on TV shows. This movie wasn't without controversy. I remember at the height of the success of this film someone came out and toured the talk show circuit claiming the script was stolen and they had already came of with the same concept of a prince coming to America to claim a bride. However they waited until the film was successful before the claim was made. cant remember if it was settle or ignored.

18:16 Yes it was that gross, I was in the Army in 84 - 87, we had this female African-American sargeant and she put that stuff in her hair all the time and it would soak into her BDU cap, drip down onto the shoulders of her uniform. One time she asked me to retrieve her cap from her desk in her office and when I lifted the cap there was an actual puddle of the stuff underneath. That stuff would drip everywhere, it got so bad that our commanding officer had forbidden her to use that product unless it she was off-duty.

Murphy plays about 6 people, I think, in this film. He also did for the Clumps movies and Haunted something-or-other.

One of the great ironic lines of any reaction video at the 20:00 mark! More accurately, the writer's "spun in" Mortimer and Randolph from an different movie universe. I enjoyed reliving this flick with you.😎

Its so weird to me you never saw this.. LOL.. This is Classic Black Film Culture...I have watched this movie easily over a 100 times and I still crack up... " When I say the boy got his own money, I mean the boy got his own MONEY" or my favorite.. " Me and the McDonalds folks have this little misunderstanding".. 😂🤣😂🤣😭😭😭

Have to laugh at the denizens of the barber shop being called "real people", given they were each played by either Murphy or Hall. And to answer the question of why Akeem didn't know any swear words...You repeat what you hear, particularly at a young age, and somehow I cannot imagine any being allowed to swear near the prince, ie if he can't get rid of his own sh*t, ain't no way anyone would be allowed to say it.
