As someone who has had a ton of dogs. You absolutely should get a puppy before Nova gets too old. She will train the dog to do all the things you trained her to do. It makes your job soooo much easier. Also old dogs get over being annoyed after a few weeks.....but always give her bigger treats. You don't want to see what happens if you do.😮
@basedWisco715 Жыл бұрын
This is great advice, training a puppy is about 90% less difficult if you already have a well-trained adult dog
@a2Asupporter Жыл бұрын
I concur. I've had several of my own dog while also fostering many rescues of various ages for adoption. Generally most "adult" dogs are very tolerant of "pups" under a year old, and teach them a lot of good doggie social skills which is very important. What you may run into with having a puppy and a senior dog is that the puppy can quickly wear out the senior dog as some puppies want a lot of play time, which can make the senior dog cranky when they're tired. But that's also a good lesson for a puppy to learn ... don't keep pestering a dog that no longer wants to play.

I've got to admit, Brass Facts is growing on me. I grew up an Army brat and then enlisted at 17. My government service ended after 15 years. You know how "set in its ways" our military can be. While I agree that bolt guns are not made to be utilized as battle rifles on the modern battlefield. However, bolt guns are still the most accurate weapons. My bolt gun is my sniper rifle and 1 of my AR-15s serves as a battle gun, along with 1 of my handguns. So, keep up the good work.

Here we are airgun aficionados! We feel your pain of the commie government which here in Mexico is not as easy to implement their left wing agenda due to that majority of Mexican people are conservative Catholics and Patriots as well. We agree with most all the conservative Americans and see how this nightmare is all planned by the powers that be. You'll be surprised how many conservative Catholic and Protestant Americans/Canadians have moved here. My props to you is that you talk and discern possibilities and situations with common sense, unlike the other guys on KZbin that feel like they only talk doomsday scenarios and push you to buy their products. 21:50 I can tell you why. It's one thing to desire basic weapon illumination on a defensive firearm, its another to want the best possible performance. We have weapon lights for 2 major reasons, PID and disorientation, that are offset by 2 unpredictable variables: photonic barriers and distance. Sure, the costs are getting up there but that's the only downside at this point. You are much better off with better horsepower and ergos if you can afford it, but this is definitely not one of those items to go into debt for and you can work your way up from basic lights.

On a note about flashlights: i had a Streamlight ProTac on my AR with the pressure switch and all that hot stuff. It was fine until i picked it up one day and the pad didnt kick the light on until the third press. I now have an Arisaka 300 scout body with a Malkof head and Surefire D-07 tailcap with a surefire pressure switch. Its a sample size of one, but prior experience with a Streamlight Strion and this experience with the ProTac pushed me to the higher end light. Piecemeal commenting: the 16” Criterion Hybrid 6.5 CM with JP full mass high pressure BCG is a fantastic combo. Relatively light for an AR 10 barrel, but consistently allowed me to shoot precisely out to 1k at a local PRS match, enough to win the gas gun division against 20”+ 308s and such. And it handles well enough for carbine work… but obviously not as good as an 11.5” 5.56 for that trade space.

Consider making your own bonded soft point ammo. 55gr, 62gr, or 75gr Speer Gold Dot projectiles are very reasonably priced when available. I recommend N135 powder especially for short barrels with cans. Clear nail polish can be used to seal case mouth and primer pocket. I wipe a little over the primer after seating. For the case mouth I seat the bullets long then wipe a little around the bullet seat to final depth wipe off excess then crimp.

"I don't think it's a scam, it's insurance". That's what insurance is. USCCA policies have a clause that their policy doesn't cover illegal action. "Well that makes sense" you might say. Except it means that one person at the insurance company gets to decide whether you were in the right or wrong and whether the policy will pay for your defense before you even go to trial. You may very well have been able to convince a jury of self defense but if you can't convince USCCA then they won't give you a red cent out of that policy you paid for.

As for a shotgun.. I feel like it does have one use case outside of hunting. This is only in semi auto form, my example being the beretta 1301 tactical that I own and have modded to meet modern standards, optic, light, sling, etc… is that unlike rifles/pistols/pdws, you get the same firepower the military would have in their weapon. The 1301 is very fast as long as the shooter can manage it, and can dump 7 in the tube, 1 on the lifter and 1 in the chamber, 9 shells of 00 buckshot, making 81 holes in a target, in a few seconds. It’s an incredibly violent weapon, that outside of full auto, can’t really be obtained. The benelli m4 is another option, but outside of the benellis track record, I’d say the 1301 takes it.

You've given me a lot to think about in terms of the PDW concept, I'm thinking about a Glock 35 with a B&T usw-g chassis with a 357 sig barrel for carry, and a 9mm barrel for practice? Is this reasonable or should I just go with 9mm

Navigation/Comms question In my PACE plan, phone is primary for both. Alternate is GPS and Radio, which is on all of my 2nd line gear. Contingency is maps, compass, beads, smoke, etc. should those things be 2nd line as well, or is it okay to put that in a 3rd line assault pack? By staying on my 2nd line, I’m really inhibiting the amount and types of ammo I can carry. A mayflower rig holds all that stuff but now I’ve only got 4 AR mags. RECCE rig will just hold GPS and radio, but I’ve got all the magazines. I’ve got multiple chest rig setups for EDC, hunting, backpacking, etc. By keeping the maps and such in a pack that I use for all of them, I’m not buying multiples for each kit. By keeping them in a vehicle, well I have multiple vehicles so I’d have to move them between vehicles all the time but the assault pack does always move into whatever vehicle I’m using. Also, I don’t have just one map of a specific AO to keep in a rig, I’ve got a bunch because as civilians, we don’t know where we’ll end up. This is a super OCD and niche question, but driving me nuts.

in regards to your shtf setup, you should consider the AAC Sabre Blade rounds for stockpiling. not even $1/round, and i would say significantly more effective than basic FMJ. have you tried it yet?

The soft apocalypse is the way I've always pictured it happening. On the topic of flashlights, have you checked out Goonbeam lights? Handheld, rifle mounted, pistol mounted, IR. All very capable & very affordable.

I know cotton rags are prefered, but I've been using blue "Tuff" shop paper towels to clean my guns with ballistol. Been doing this for years, but then on my last range trip with a new guy, he said Paper towels are abrasive and I'm damaging my bore and scratching my finish. Now I can't sleep, have I been sand papering my guns?

I used to be pretty deep in the 3d printed gun community, but I didn't have a 3D printer at the time. And I have lost some interest in the concept since. But I recently got a resin printer and some casting wax so I could make jewelry. But nothing's to stop me from casting aluminum or stainless with it. Just so long as the part will tolerate amateur casting.

Congrats on the 100k subscribers, you've been a really great source of quality information for a while. I appreciate your earnest approach where as others tend to have too much entertainment and not as much in-depth thought on a process or product.

I'd love to see your take on Scout Rifles. Or Scout Rifles vs Practical Rifles.
@whiterabit09 Жыл бұрын
Im thinking practical rifles have superseded scout rifles, the versatility of scopes and no need for iron sights... From some random on the internet.

I had an idea for a story about how there was a SHTF scenario kind of like what you described, essentially making a cold civil war. Like some stats consider themselves independent or a new country and there are pockets where the government just can't enforce anything. The story was supposed to revolve around blue collar people and trucking convoys trying to navigate areas with their own laws, dilapidated roads, and of course people trying to take their stuff.

Question. Short: what is your minimal acceptable level of handgun and rifle proficiency that you're comfortable with? Long: He who jerks trigger and doesn't know how to deal with stovepipe needs urgently to shift focus into shooting. He, who spends weekends and $$ on shaving of another 0,01sec from his time, will be better off doing something else i.e. medical or land nav, farming or vehicle maintenance. Where do you draw the line?

I actually prefer pencil barrels nowadays even with a can. I’ve never had issues with mine losing accuracy even running a can and dumping 400ish rounds in a couple hours

Do you have a video on personal finance for preppers? Like get your gear together but don’t bury yourself or stress too much about the future. I find myself watching this kind of content a lot and getting stressed or panic buying. The last thing I need is to get into a bunch of debt.
@BrassFacts Жыл бұрын
yeah some of my prep videos discuss it lightly. Just minimize bad debt and live within your means.
@TheJumboPenguin Жыл бұрын
If watching this type of content is causing you to stress out and is affecting your financial stability, then you might want to consider distancing yourself from this a bit until you have a better frame of mind to consider what you actually need rather than what a KZbin theorizes you might need as well as knowing if it is something you actually need or just something you want.
@kyjelly5524 Жыл бұрын
@@TheJumboPenguin ignorance is bliss lol. I love the content. It’s just sketchy if something actually happens and we have to use our gear.
