If anyone is curious on the origins, it did start in California because of the desert racing scene where trucks tend to lean back out of necessity from the suspension design then people wanted to copy that look but not actually have the real suspension to go with it, then it cropped up on the east coast.

From my understanding the Cali lean started from pre runner project trucks, building those long travel IFS back then sorta left you broke, since companies didn’t really make parts.. to each their own by the end of the day. Not my style

I started seeing squatted trucks in Cali back in the early to mid 90’s in the off-road / dirt bike seen. Where many people were trying to mimic the stance of a trophy truck commonly used in the Baja 1000 race in Baja California. Many also referred to it as a prerunner look.

I have a Squatted Tahoe on 275/55/20 on bf goodwrench KO2 All Terrain. To reduce the rubbing in the front I'm adding a 2.25 level lift in front with new adjustable shocks. I represent Brown Pride it's how we do the in colorado. From here I expect to do a 6 inch lift all together. Right now I got mn looking hard. No spacers on my tire an rims 20x 12 -44 offset rims and yes on a LTZ 2010 Chevy Tahoe

The Cali lean on trucks started back with prerunners started to take off and people started putting long travel suspension on trucks and before the correct parts were available it was hard to get the right angels on the arms with out lifting it. But on the back End to get a lot of travel it’s take longer leaf hangers unless you link it. Also most people end up spend their full load of money on the front and have to make the tires fit in the rear so they can drive the truck until the money is available to link the rear.

Nah I was kidding earlier... but have to admit. Some look pretty good. But now we're getting into my generation... yeah old school hot rodding. Back when lift kits and air bags and low profile tires didn't exist. We built the motor [gas], and took as much weight out of the CAR as possible. We wanted all the traction/weight... on the back over the axle. Clip a coil out of the spring, or remove a leaf or two... drop the back end a little. Hit the throttle and go... and it became a trend like all things. Lead sleds, gassers... even some old school bikes [before the extended front fork]. We didn't hot rod or "show" trucks back then. They were utility vehicles. Now if the motor was rebuilt... well.. it might have been cammed a little or something... but hot rodding was for cars. Then in the 60's and 70's. You saw things go the other way . AIR SHOCKS, Jack up the back and put those new style wide tires [E60's] on the back. Then the skinny little dragster tires up front. Soft shocks and springs up front and stiff in the back. See the car lift when it launched. Still not much available in the way things for trucks and jeeps. That didn't occur much... until a crazy fellow jacked up a Ford pickup, put farm tractor tires under and called it Bigfoot !! For a long time to get any kind of aggressive sand / mud tire... it was a farm implemente tire. So, any way in a nutshell... dropped and chopped tail draggers have been around... actually they are the O.G. 😎

I had Front 2 Back Side 2 Side w/3 wheel AND hop with Z-Rack on bed. With a 400 small block destroked to 388 Rare Nickel block with B&M super charger. That was IN 1986. Got ALL my Hop from San Jose. CA 1983 GMC S-15 Starcraft conversion Edition. With fiberglass kit. Boy.. I Miss that Truck.

The Cali lean started from trucks in the dunes to imitate the stance of a pre runner. When I hear Cali lean I think of cencal style trucks, big lifts, tons of chrome and powder, debadged and color matched, slick and clean bodies, with small wide wheels and tires and 1-3 inches lower in the rear. not stretched leveling kits up front and drop shackles in the rear like the Carolinas. BTW my 67 duramax swapped c10 has 1-1.5" of lean 🤷‍♂️😂

Till I spent the money on all the parts I needed to make them what I wanted, I could have bought them from boost auto and saved 2-300 bucks. I lived in Florida in 2011 and I saw several squatted Z71's I don't think it started in Cali. I just think Cali took it an extreme!

I think it was inspired by the pro race truck series, that class has a squatted look. I don’t like it, but any auto movement (so long as it is not dangerous) is ultimately good for the hobby.

Yeah the squatted look falls squarely into the dangerous category. There's no way anyone driving can see well enough over the hood. Every one of these shitboxes needs to be impounded or simply pounded on sight.

If you want to upgrade/mod your truck with Boost Motorparts, then don't bother trying if your truck is younger then 2002. I went to get tow mirrors for my '98 F150. They had nadda.

its just how we like the look its like how some lower or fully lifted it just a trend that we like and i dont see y ppl hating on the trend when its not there vehicle

Where I come from a ghost load ride means its time to change the suspension. But we actually use our lifted trucks as trucks.

I grew up with this and what's funny is everyone is slightly off... Back in the day everyone in high-school would save up for months for front coilovers and never ended up doing the rear. It was pure laziness that started this haha

I am a high schooler in Illinois. So no one squats their trucks round here but people do lift em. I however am leaving mine stock height because i enjoy it that way.
