Just to clarify, the 6.7 Power Stroke turbo is indeed coolant fed. He’s talking about 6.0 turbos while having a brand new 6.7 turbo on the bench.

Kyle Gjelsvik EGR’s vary according to load. Cruising 75 mph, unladen, I see 600-800 degrees. I recently towed 6000 lbs, in the mountains, EGR’s ran 900-1000 degrees. Up a 2 mile 10% grade, temps built slowly at a cruise of 55 mph. As soon as the grade was topped, dropped to 900. Temps were easily controlled with modulating the throttle. My truck is not Max-tuned. She’s just a fun 380 hp. I figure about 700 torque

You're not wrong. all that EPA crap bolted on just kills the motor super quick. My 2015 Cummins blew its motor at exactly 298,024 miles and It was all stock.

I have a GT3794 68mm on my LLY and love it ... spools fast and sounds like a jet. I also have a Garrett T18a40 with 100mm compressor wheel on a 106 exhaust wheel on my race truck. Garrett is the way to go for me.

I have 04 dodge. I was pulling about 16k pounds and my turbo blew up and it cracked my exhaust manifold. I put the super B turbo from DB. I went from stock turbo pushing 25 psi to pushing 45 psi. I think after it was all done I was about $4,500 into it. I wish I knew about Ryan I would have went with him. This happened about 3 years ago.

St. Jello it usually runs around 175 when I’m not towing but I also did install a bigger trans cooler it goes up to maybe 190 when I’m towing real heavy loads

Lol. The duramax vgt turbo, 6.0 powerstroke and the newer 6.7 powerstroke all use a variation on the Garrett gt37 series. The "best turbo" is the one that does its job and gets you down the road

6.0 garrett gt37 uses oil to lubricate and cool the turbo. it doesnt need coolant to cool the turbo.

On the lly turbo can the turbo vane position sensor make the tapping noise but still be bad sending wrong position to the computer.

That’s a tough one to really pick I drive a 03 7.3 powerstroke. I need a new turbo I blew mine up but there not a turbo out there that sound sick as a 03 6.0 powerstroke 10vane turbo. But power wise on weather towing or drag or street racing that’s tough to choose.

I dunno, the titan xd on a straight pipe sound amazing! I love the sound of the 6.0 but when I deleted my titan xd the turbo sound was freaking crazy! I'll give the 6.0 a close 2nd on the turbo sound, everyone else is very distant. The Cummins 5.0 in the XD sounds like a cross between a 6.0 and a duramax, turbo more inline with the 6.0 sound as far as the turbo, engine exhaust more inline with the duramax, and it revs to 4,000rpm. Although mine is del3t3d, its not as powerful or as quick as the larger diesels in the domestic 3/4 tons that are running tunes, but it does pretty decent. I think if Nissan could have kept this truck heavier than a half ton but lighter than a 3/4 ton it would be better, but it weighs over 7,000lbs, so it has the same stability as a 3/4 ton and tows surprisingly well considering the lower power ratings. I love mine, and unlike the duramax and powerstroke v8, this cummins v8 is very easy to work on. Labor charges will be super cheap because there's tons of room and everything is very easy to access.

I’m a big duramax guy, but I’ve always had a question in the back of my head. What causes the iconic 6.0 exhaust note. Is it the turbo design? Is it the firing order? Is it circular exhaust ports, compared to square on a duramax? Is it the exhaust manifolds? I’ve always wondered that but I’ve never been able to find an answer.

As a 6.0 owner, it's a combo of the compressor wheel, egr delete and straight pipe turbo back. My trucks exhaust sounds like a jet turbine🤤

@@jonathonbridges9625 my xd cummins does too. Idles and spools with that jet sound just like a 6.0, sounds amazing. Those Titan XD Cummins truck will definitely give the 6.0 a run for its money when it comes to sound. Mine is d3l3ted with a 4 inch str8 pipe. The stock exhaust is already 4 inch so I stuck with that size. On straight pipes it sound sick! I ended up putting am AFE muffler and now its way too quiet lol

If you're talking about the gargle/bark at higher rpms its the heui injector design fires off of high pressure oil and the injector pressurizes the fuel into the combustion chamber.

I have a 2019 f350 that tows 18000 pounds on a 5th wheel. If I drive 65mph uphill my turbo overheats and I can only go 55mph floored and the engine brake won’t turn on unless I let the truck cool down for an hour

You've got me considering getting a full hsp piping kit. I'm running efi live dsp5, if I install the kit do I need retuned? Or get on of these turbos then I need retuned as well? Stay away from the 7.3. More times than not, they’re getting up there in miles and will need injectors done, oil leaks fixed, and glow plugs replaced. Being the 7.3 is a HEUI injection system, the injectors and oil leaks can run up in cost, especially if you have someone else do it and they get you on labor due to years of grime and rust making the job take longer. Look more into the 06 to 07 duramax. You’d like those better.
