Her boyfriend was a nurse during a Pandemic…what d she think he was going to do during that time? He was dying with people and their families…and she was worrying about being lonely for a time and worried about “her needs.” What a selfish and immature little girl. He did the right thing.

I disagree. She wasn't selfish and immature for having needs. She was very mature when she discussed it with him before the cheating, saying that she wanted to spend more time together and pointing out his obsession with work was a wedge. She analyzed the situation, proposed possible reasons for it, and had a talk. She didn't blame or shame him for his work, just said she needs more of him. That's leagues beyond what any selfish teen or Karen does. At the same time it's just as immature for him to devote himself completely to work when his partner says she needs him. What wasn't mature was cheating and trying to cover/ justify it. He should have been more attentive to her, he knew she was younger and wouldn't be at the same place he was yet forced her to cope anyway (or as he put it, holding her back from enjoying life). She shouldn't have cheated, that was selfish, but while she is at fault he is not blameless. They were both selfish and immature in their own ways. Also, lol, they were both nurses during the pandemic. That alone should tell you how much more they needed support from each other, that she was giving and he wasn't.

Coworkers fuck. Happens all the time. Sometimes it's the adrenaline but mostly it's the time spent together. However, if an actual relationship establishes, you just kind of switch to a different department or switch to a different shift. HR is going to give you side eye, but don't actually tell them the real reason on paper, lol, and they ultimately don't really give a shit. It happens that frequently. HR gives a shit when a lawyer gets involved. OMG I have so many stories of coworkers and colleagues banging and getting in this type of trouble and worse. Jobs lost, etc.

Story one gives me nasty shivers, wow. I'm four years younger than OP and I'm completely blown away by her emotional underdevelopment. How thick must her bubble have been to think only about herself until the moment he told her to leave? Only then did she "see his pain?" Throughout the entire story, I'm wondering how many of her tears were cried for her ex-boyfriend, and how many she cried for herself. Break-ups are tough and heartbreaking, but literally half her story is about how much she's suffering. It's "her fault" and she's "a horrible person" but it's at the same time, she's avoiding the blame by saying she didn't realize it was cheating. She didn't even tell him she cheated. She can't comprehend what she did wrong, and yet she echoes what she thinks will bring her the most sympathy and put her in a victim role. My heart goes out to the ex, though. He's maturer than most people, regardless of age. I hope he'll find someone who loves him enough to care about his emotions. I have a feeling that his attentiveness to OP put them in an unbalanced give-take dynamic where the ex's needs have also gone unmet. He's attentive and a great listener, and I'm sure it's what brings him joy as well, but I wouldn't bet money on OP having actually returned the favor by lending him a listening ear. It would explain why she didn't consider his feelings about the cheating and her open-relationship scheme. She never had to consider his feelings before.

Story 1: Rule one, never even consider an open romantic relationship if you have an already strong closed one. Rule two, if you ignore rule ones it's your own fault for what happens next. And on OP, she 'didn't feel bad about doing it, just about doing it behind his back" so OP doesn't see it as wrong, she just sees the secrecy as wrong. S1 Update: There is something I learned in collage, it is only in failure that we can truly learn. The brain only develops if you make a mistake, recognize it as such, and then learn the correct line of thinking. She never really thought about the fact that cheating ends relationships, and as such now she has learn a valuable lesson, though at a very steep cost. Story 2: Okay this seems very weird to me. He is clueless while she is trying to intentionally irritate OP to get rid of OP. My recommendation would be to write a list of subtle flirts and how she seems to be trying to treat him as something much closer then friends. Let him try and handle it, as if I learned of someone I considered a friend pulling this I would be pretty mad. S2 update: Guy at least has a a shiny spine, and that girl is a "Nice girl" stereotype. She is a Machiavellian and if I were him I'd shut her down after pulling that Yandere S.

Story 1 reads more as a tragic coming of age story. I think a lot of people do stuff that is stupid like this when they are younger and immature. It hurts, and yeah the person has responsibility for their deeds. This was genuinely the best case scenario for her. The older man was incredibly sweet and understanding and encouraging, because I think he realized immediately what the problem was, when she couldn't. She was incredibly lucky to go through this lesson with someone who didn't lash out at her for it. For all you young adults, take this as the cautionary tale it is. Sometimes you can love someone deeply and not be compatible with them. Especially with exceedingly different life experiences and ethical values. It's okay to move on when you are unhappy, but you can't slam pieces into place to make them fit and make you happy without considering the other side. I don't think she was malicious on purpose, but she definitely hurt some people in her fumbling immaturity.

Ok, gonna give some advice that has served me and my adult kids well for many years. My philosophy on "When is it cheating?" When you cross the line of hinting at, or openly stating anything romantic/sexual with another person not in your relationship-its cheating. Flirting either in person, text, social media etc is cheating. This boundary may seem extreme to some of you in the younger generation - Gen X here, but I believe its about respect. Both for yourself and your partner. Life is short so if you are unhappy in your current relationship you have 2 choices- either you 1) sit down with your partner and try to work out the issues (you know like communicate with them) maybe involve couples therapy if you feel like your partner is not hearing/understanding your viewpoint. Or 2) break off the relationship. Its really that simple. Why would you want to make your life more difficult by sneaking around, hiding texts and lieing? In pretty much every cheating story I have heard about (and lived through) the cheating gets discovered at some point, so the subterfuge is pointless. Just my 2 cents from someone who has been cheated on.

He's in his 40's and so he's not hormone/sex driven and so he's willing to cut everything else out to focus on his work and that includes OP. Even though OP lost out on what WAS a very lovely relationship, it is best she got out now before she became pregnant by this workaholic. She needs to be single and mingle as she's only in her twenties and at her age, physical and emotional attention from a significant other is very important. Yes OP screwed up, but IMO it is for the best. The relationship would not have been good for her in the long run.

The first story, the boyfriend is literally the perfect man, he's the best role model any man can have He didn't get angry at her or try to get revenge or humiliate, he even comforted her and then simply left Keeping his dignity intact, idk who he is, but he earned my full respect

story 1: I think it's a huge red flag that OP felt like she wasn't getting enough attention from her partner, so her first reflex was to search for that attention from someone else. I feel like your first instinct should always be to try and fix any problem you have with your partner instead of immediately looking somewhere else, ESPECIALLY if you're doing it behind their back. OP definitely isn't ready for a serious relationship.

How could she fix the problem? He did not listen to her, or take her seriously. He had no respect for her. He was never there for her to talk to him about it. He was not forced to work so much, he chose to do so. To fix a problem, BOTH parties need to be willing to fix it. He was not. Cue the abuse towards me, because, shock horror, a WOMAN, and a NON-AMERICAN, dared to comment,

She needs to work on the "conflict resolution" the boyfriend taught her!

Story two: break up with him. No anger, just let him go. He isnt ready for you. Find a man that is not dependant on another women. This will end with hard feelings and resentment.

Lol, OP in S1 is in La la land. She sounds way too young for him.

Story 2: she needs to be honest but not try to drop ultimatums. Explain the issues and see his reaction. Go from there. You can't control his behavior but you can control yours.

She can't win here. This friend is so manipulative that op doesn't stand a chance . It doesn't help that the boyfriend is soft-hearted as well.

Story 2: this relationship won't last because of his friend group. It's sad.

OP2 needs to just cut and run. Boyfriend is just too stupid to be dating if he doesn’t see through this shit

"but you're the girlfriend and I'm just a friend, right?" So true. Boyfriend tells me often that he sees you as a sister.

Honestly the last story had me in 2 places mentally. It kinda makes me think that the OP could very well be controlling, and the friend could very well be innocent in all this and had a bad reaction to being called essentially a home wrecker. And the way that OP said that they had “won”? That just left a very sour taste in my mouth. Like it just felt so wrong to hear being said aloud. I wonder who exactly is in the right here… I’m not entirely sure if OP is being entirely forthcoming with their post, because of how their actions would naturally come across…
