Nu metal bands incorperated their hip-hop inspirations. Metalcore bands are like, "Fuck that, let's just straight up use that shit." This is the bravest period in metal yet. What I call the "Come at me, bro" era where some of the best in newer metal is not worried about the criticism from the gatekeepers but leaning hard into it.

Seem like there's a big push for Ascensionism & Take Me Back to Eden. Everyone like what they like but have always felt Dark Signs, Higher, Suger, and Blood Sport from the first album and Granite, Are You Really Ok(?), Euclid and of course the Summoning were all much more worth pushing for the band's notoriety.

The mixing of genres in Sleep Token's songs doesn't feel like something illegal, on the contrary, it feels like exactly what a song should be. Welcome to the Sleep Token family. This is the order I usually recommend someone brand new to ST: The Summoning, Chokehold, TMBTE, Ascensionism, The Offering, Alkaline, Hypnosis, Sugar, Jaws. Then after that, if you’re fully hooked (which you should be by then!), you gotta just do the right thing and go listen to all three albums in full, in order. Then you can go back for the EPs and singles. Worship. 🙏🏼

They are genre bending but some songs are just straight up a ballad or touching songs that make you wanna cry. Then the songs that have surprises you never expect are awesome too. For something a little different try Granite, Rain, Bloodsport (from the room below), Dark Signs and Sugar frim their first album Sundowning and Atlantic, Hypnosis, The Love You Want, and Alkaline from their 2nd album This Place Will Become Your Tomb. We love everyone's opinion, good or bad, because they hook you into their world or his voice isn't for you, really no in between. I had seen them live about a month ago and was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. They don't talk, but they interact very well, and vessel (the lead singer) gets so into his songs that you get engrossed with it as well. I suggest you do a song from their last album, Atlantic, which is one of their most popular or a newer one that exploded their pouplarity called The Summoning.

Since they’re English, they’d probably say “Hold my pint.” 😂😂 But being real with you, when I first encountered them after their first album came out, they were actually listed as an alternative band. For me it fits a bit better than most genres unless you group them together with progressive bands. But that’s a whole other aspect and they have definite similarities but I wouldn’t put them there either. So to sum this diatribe up, I say their genre is good good. They’re so nice I said it twice. 😊
