Hi, thanks for all your efforts here. Before seeing your video I asked the Mexican authorities and just received a reply. While I can transit with a 249g drone I am not able to use it as a Foreigner, based on numeral 4.10.16. of the Official Mexican Standard NOM-107-SCT3-2019 regardless of weight and even though I am commercially recognised in the EU, AU and Jpn with a global insurance policy

👍 unfortunately only citizens are eligible to fly based on my understanding. I have a license for the US and it didn't matter. Thanks for watching 🙏

I would do more research. What I have found in 2023 is the weight limit + can not fly near certain places like crowds, ruins, etc. I flew my Mavic Air 2 and My Mini 2 twice in Cozumel without any issues.

Yes, I purchased it in the US and brought on my carry on bag when we flew into Cancun.

And I wish they would’ve told you why you’re not allowed to fly was it just you were in restricted airspace? Were you very close to an airport or is it you can’t fly a drone anywhere in Mexico?

Only Mexican citizens are allowed to fly 🫤 Thanks for watching 🙏

@@OurTinyAdventure maybe there’s concerned about national security I’m sure you’ve heard about the DJI drone ban. I don’t know what’s gonna happen if that goes through. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of your channel. Thanks so much.

@@OurTinyAdventure My dad is mexican citizen but I'm American over 250G drone register to myself can he fly it....?
@OurTinyAdventure4 ай бұрын
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the person flying must be a citizen and properly licensed

Not exactly sure 😁. I saw some other people flying theirs while we were there but they looked like locals. It doesn't seem like a huge deal, almost everyone on KZbin that comes to Mexico uses a drone. I just wanted to ask someone to find out for sure.

Yesterday I received this in response to my inquiry to the AFAC (Mexican FAA) about foreigners operating in Mexico. This reply was cc'd to the Executive Director of Aviation in Mexico and the Director of Engineering Standards and Certification. So officials from the top down had eyes on this email. "In response to your email received on April 20 of this year and based on section 4.10.16. of the Mexican Official Standard NOM-107-SCT3-2019, which establishes the requirements to operate a remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) in Mexican airspace, I inform you that RPAS operations by foreigners are not allowed in Mexico, regardless of the weight of the aircraft or the intended use of it. I add the aforementioned numeral for quick reference 4.10.16. They will not be able to operate in Mexico an RPAS with foreign registration or registration or operated by foreign RPAS operators, other than those mentioned in section 4.10.15 of this Standard Mexican Official, unless there is a bilateral agreement between the Aeronautical Authority and the Aviation Authority. Civil Aviation of the state of registration/registration." So Mexico is a no fly zone for foreigners... So now I'm applying for Mexican citizenship and I'm going to bring down a drone that my mexican partner can fly, with my guidance, while the application is in work.

The research that I have done shows that only a Mexican citizen can legally fly a drone in Mexico, and they need to be licensed in Mexico. That said, many non-Mexicans do fly but at the risk of confiscation of the drone plus fines. Also, as you enter Mexico you should have receipts for your equipment to prove that you are not bringing a drone into the country to sell it. Having a US license does not mean much there.

Under 250g is allowed. Never over military bases, government buildings, etc. Law is very close to US laws. There is a guy on KZbin that went deep into the legality of flying drones in Mexico. CHeck him out.
