@@Opal1001 just don't stress about bc we are always told we have to maximize our productivity, achievement and live life to its fullest. My parents both passed away in a motorcycle accident when I was 12, but I am always happy when people actually cherish their parents when they've been blessed enough to still have them. I obviously can't ask my parents these questions, but seeing you ask them, and seeing your mom's responses is a kind thing to share with all of us. I may not have my own mom's answers, but I'll gladly accept and heed your mom's advice in her place. Thank you.

Kiru Did you really have to comment on this? Seriously, ppl should stop judging others on their own beliefs. We all believe in something or not, that doesn't mean should all hate each other for it. The point is not to criticize and judge others. You're comment undermines this compliment. Sorry for lashing out at you but I'm sure this person wasn't intending to push their beliefs on you. LET US ALL SPREAD POSITIVITY. I know this comment is not positive either & i apologize but I thought it was rude that you posted that when this person had nothing bad to say.

Being from an Vietnamese immigrant family, these stories really put life into perspective and I'm pretty grateful to have grown up hearing many of them. The little problems we have today are nothing compared to the problems our parents have faced in the past trying to escape war torn countries.. Makes me feel weak when I worry / complain about stuff as well. The stories of my parents are really what keeps me going. Can't give up after all they've gone through...

"Don't think far away, far away, how can you catch?" What a lovely way of thinking. I plan to meditate and really absorb her wisdom. I agree that looking past what's right in front of you keeps you from seeing those small beautiful moments. Planning so far in the future creates anxiety and unhappiness. Not to say we should be reckless and financially irresponsible. Just that we should look at the beauty that's right in front of us. Cherish the smiles you pass on to others. Cherish the purest form of love from your children.

I am in the process of writing my dissertation. I am 26 and even though I wasn't born into a war I was born into poverty. I grew up in an orphanage. As soon as I turned 18 I ran away from my country and moved to the UK. I only had about 100gbp (not sure about dollars, but around the same). I lived in the cheapest hostels. I worked the worst jobs. I learned English from the cratch. I managed to go to college and I am now graduating with my doctorate in Psychology. Your mom just inspired me. I am inspired to just feel happy with what I have, and I am inspired to go and finish my goddamn dissertation. Thank you

Although it may sound slightly weird in English, It’s actually kind of an idiom/ a bit of life philosophy in Chinese ( at least in Hong Kong) .After some translation to Cantonese/Chinese, it can be understood as : Rather attempting to seek pleasure from some far fetching dreams or (far away未來)long-distant future which you will never know (catch 抓住) about , ENJOY THE MOMENT , BE GRATEFUL FOR THINGS NEARBY WITH US NOW and treasure the PRESENT (當下). (In reality, we may all know and experience : its easier said than done…) Best Wishes to all watching this, and of coz: Kane and his family ;)
