Mike - If you come through Texas on I35, Hay's County BBQ in San Marcos is awesome. Not once have I ever seen that stretchy collegen in their brisket like you showed in the meat accordion clip - the fat at Hays is only the kind that just melts when you take a bite. They have pork belly, pork loins, and many other meats that are smoked perfectly too, crusty on the outside and juicy on the inside - and at nice prices - and they are super friendly. I can name many many BBQ places that are great on their good days, but what sets this place apart is they serve BBQ perfection every single day. And then the equivalent of Hay's in Tex-Mex, is in San Antonio as you head due west to Cali on IH10. Mimi's is a "hole in the wall" in the truest sense. A 1/4 mile off of IH10, it is truly Tex-Mex perfection. They mostly do TOGO, but have 8 tiny one person tables in a strip center spot roughly twice the size of my kitchen, but you will never have a bad meal there, and the hot sauce is the best I've ever had, and that's a statement from a guy that was sipping hot sauce from my baby bottle.

Hey Mikey, I'm a new subscriber living in Germany. But I'm from Richmond, VA and the best food in the world is there, at a restaurant called Mamma'Zu. If you ever are back on the east coast you could do a review. The best dishes are Jumbo Shrimp al Burro, and Zuppa di Pesce white sauce. I love Europe but Mamma'Zu makes me homesick.

Price's is great. They also have respectable Barbecue pulled pork-believe it or not. Charlotte is not the Barbecue capital here, but respectable Que can be found at Mac's, Queen City Q in Uptown, and a few other places. Found it interesting that the President went to Midwood Barbecue after you went there. Maybe you inspired him.

I'm still confused. What is Barbecue? Does that mean it's a restaurant that serves food you would get at a backyard BBQ? Or is it something entirely different? I'm from Canada so I've never been to one of those restaurants (although I think they have a few here now)
@leolldankology7 жыл бұрын
Stef In Canada technically, bbq is anything that is smoked for an extended period of time, low heat and slow cook. everything else is technically grilled.
