I attempted the DougDoug Challenge in Tears of the Kingdom

In this video, I try to cross the entire map in Tears of the Kingdom in a straight line (aka, the DougDoug challenge). I use all the same rules he did in his video, but try to find a brand new, and way better area to cross the map. Will I be able to complete this daunting task, and prove to DougDoug that there is indeed another way? Let's find out...

So now we have to argue the merits of the DougDoug line and the Curtomatic line. Doug's line was definitely more of a journey, and had so few spare resources that it felt that it was meant to be. This line felt like it had a lot more to offer, most of which was used to take down that Hinox at the end, a very nice finale. Regardless of which line is better, now begs the question of how many more lines may exist in Hyrule? I feel we are on the brink of an era of straight and narrow exploration.

I think it would have been possible with a flurry rush instead of normal hits for the last of the spear, because of the 2x multiplier for the Royal Halberd and the last-hit critical. But the arrow made for better suspense.

Good video, and a fun sequel to DougDoug's. It made me wonder if this is possible in the Depths, considering the walls where bodies of water are. Looking at the map, I see only one route that might be feasible, going horizontally from Hebra to Akkala (or vice versa), narrowly going north of Lake Kilsie and in between Korok Forest and Thyphlo Ruins. It would require crossing the Fire Temple and part of Death Mountain, though, so you might have to allow devices for those parts. Or Mineru. Btw, Mount Gustaf is named after King Gustaf from The Minish Cap. But now I'll like to think of Gusteau instead.

Nice work putting this together. I actually just rewatched DougDoug's VOD of this last night when I couldn't sleep. He actually at one point does consider this line but decides against it because of how much further from the North edge of the map it is and felt like it wasn't in the spirit of the challenge. I'm not a modder or professional programmer of any sort so I'm definitely talking out my ass here. But from what I do understand it seems like this would be a relatively simple mod to create. input start and end coordinates then do some very simple math to output the line and two parallel lines 5m to each side and make those death planes, or just bound link's position between them depending on how nice you want to be, and a 'spawn link at start point' function at the end. you could add a visual element to do diagonals without losing your mind, or make them the bounded version but only 1m wide

I know it has to be within a straight line, but does the position in the X axis have to be within a margin? Like say 10 units? -300 Talus Plateau to Hemaar's Descent & 1390 Tingel Island to Passer Hill completed. Both require cooking up stamina food. 1390 requires defeating a Boss Boko in Minshi woods with limited resources to get a Knight's claymore so you can farm restless crickets to cook up

This line was fantastic! Congrats on finding it! One note though: you run is invalid. If I understand correctly, you cannot use any Key Items. However, at 11:55 you used Flame Emitter, which uses your Energy Cells, and those are certainly Key Items. Would love to see this section of the run redone with no use of Energy Cells
