actually i believe most GMs fully respect levy's abilities, both as a chess player and a chess influencer. if they're honest (like hikaru) they would say that levy's only obstacle to getting the required GM norms is his own mental blocks. i'll bet plenty of GMs would acknowledge that levy's current peak is already GM-tier. losing to levy and becoming part of his path to GM should be considered an honour too.

Really liking this GM focus, it's fascinating to watch as you learn and work on different aspects of your game; not just learning the lines, but the time management, the intuitive moves and how you are tackling your mental game as well. All aspects of your game are building, it's great to see your much more positive attitude to how you are approaching chess. What a character arc!

Comparing both Hikaru's and Levy's analyses is fascinating. On both ends; Levy's depth, teaching step-by-step the path he took while showing somehow the way his brain operates on a board vs. Hikaru's simplicity explaining in seconds how the endgame was winning for black, reaching (live) the exact same result. Either video was pedagogical and catching on its own way. Congrats on the mesmerizing victory and gameplay, man. Keep it up, and I hope you hit those GM Norms! Regards from Argentina (y gracias Tomás, también, por regalarnos esta exhibición, a pesar de no haber vencido)!
@ZarazXero7 ай бұрын
I agree! I also found it fascinating how Hikaru pointed out that Levy's decisions were wise and practical, even if they weren't always the top computer moves. Sometimes it pays to play simple, pragmatic moves that give you an easy game to play and draw, rather than chase the absolute best move and risk over-complicating the position and losing.

As a pretty ordinary marathon runner, my first goal is always to make it to the start line proud of my training, regardless of what happens after. It seems like you got to the board prepared and ready. That's the biggest victory here. As it turns out, this was a great game mate. Mentally, tactically, and in endurance terms you showed up. Do you have enough great games in you to get a GM norm? No idea. Most people don't. Any given IM probably doesn't. But you got to the board strong and played chess in a way that you can be proud of. Congratulations on that. That is always enough to hold your head high, regardless of norms, views, clout or money. I hope you can keep training hard, showing up strong and walking out proud - win, lose or draw. On a much less significant level, congrats on beating a GM OTB in classical. I think for the first time? That's huge mate.
