I explain the Zombine suicide-bombing as: the Headcrab can access enough of it's host's mind to understand that the grenade _is a weapon,_ and that you _pull the pin_ to use it, but the Headcrab isn't really smart enough to know what to do next, so it just tries to club you with it.

I see it as the combine soldier still retaining some level of control of their body (due to the modifications done on them) and they see the headcrab as a threat that needs to be eliminated, and bombing itself is the only effective means of doing so.

The soldier can attack other enemies with grenades, however, he does not attack zombies, this indicates that the headcrab has some control over him, enough to not make himself blow up. However, the zombine still communicates over radio and makes callouts, for instance saying that the area is overrun with headcrabs, calling out the other zombies, he even does a callout when he's trying to throw the grenade. Considering the zombine is the ONLY zombie able to talk, and considering what he says even makes sense, it's not just gibberish, it can be assumed the soldier actually still has alot of control, enough to be able to attack other creatures, however the headcrab probably was able to convince the soldier that all headcrabs are friendly. (Which is debatable considering he still reports the headcrabs to overwatch like they're a threat.) TL;DR: I think the combine soldier still has alot of control, yet the headcrab has enough to prevent him from throwing the grenade for instance, or attacking other zombies.

Entropy zero 1 and 2 are very well made half life 2 mods where you play as a combine named 3560 (If i remember correctly) or his actual name Adrian walker. The first entropy zero takes place somewhere before half life 2 and entropy zero 2 takes place after half life 2 and around the two episodes

so funny thing your "answer A" for the Zombine is pretty much correct, as the headcrabs don't kill their host, and some sounds for the zombine, specifically it's alert sounds are altered and reversed versions of the combine soldier radio call-outs for seeing zombies and headcrabs, meaning that the still alive soldier hosts are desperately trying to warn other potential squads of the infested area, so either the soldier is trying to end it's misery or trying to martyr itself to take out nearby zombies and headcrabs.

I just want a collector's edition, unified game for HL2 series that 1) reworks lighting for modern SE1 (let alone SE2, that would take an incredible amount of work beyond that of Black Mesa) and, 2) all three games use flashlight independent of "sprint power energy" (which why is that only enabled by HEV suit?), and even just infinite flashlight with a lore-credible reason that it's knocked out for Ep1. Like, I don't know, maybe because Gordon wakes up in the rubble, and his HEV suit should be broken, only able to accept maybe 30 suit power until later in the episode?
