I beat Radahn first try after putting on Gwyn's theme

I was ready to give up for the night and as a joke to keep myself going a little longer I turned off the music in-game and played Gwyn's theme instead and, no joke, got him first try. It even synced up perfectly with the timing, with the song ending as soon as the fight did.

Radahn is basically super gwyn, where parrying him is probably the most intuitive strat. Although unlike gwyn, you have to parry him like 30 times before you beat him, making it super exhausting.

@@discountcrusader9773 I tried parrying, but ultimately decided that giant hunt was just better damage per minute than waiting for the attacks I could reliably parry. Giant hunt really carried me through the dlc and honestly, I don't really feel bad about it. Bosses are a lot more punishing and there are way fewer safe openings to use it than the main game. still had to learn the bosses, learn their stance values and learn when I could use it, when I could trade, and when I could recover if I messed up.

Parrying him is actually a hack for second phase. He can’t use half his light moves if you just parry the beginning attack, making him a walk in the park.

Honest, he's been one of my worst videogame experiences so far. There is so much bullshit, I can't handle it. I've finished all Soulsborne games with all possible limitations, I know all the boss fights like the back of my hand, but Radahn is just so fucking wrong. All the other DLC bosses are clean and fair fights. Just what the fuck were they thinking with this guy.

Honestly it's super refreshing not seeing a super high effort no-hit run. I was the same where it was a lot of hitting him for all I can, getting smacked for most of my HP, and then frantically chugging. I also got the kill after my last flask and man what a feeling

sort of fits this fight thematically. Here you are fighting a puppeted corpse whose soul is likely unwillingly being used for another's gain when it probably just wants to finally rest. Sort of sounds similar in vibes to Gwyn's situation in terms of mood or tone.

Jerran's dialogue leads credence to this theory. He said Radhan asked him to promise him that if something ever happened to him that he'd be given an honorable death. Radhan would not have wanted this. Freyja kind of implies that with her dialogue too but brushes it off by saying "But he's better off alive anyway death doesn't suit him" she wanted him back so badly that she justified him being brought back and enslaved (essentially those under Miquella's spell will do whatever he wants them to do and for the most part not even realize it

After getting parried he has a very high chance of doing that attack from his right, so you basically wait for it. The sequence is usually: parry -> R1 -> during R1 animation watch the boss and if he starts the right swing queue parry after R1. This way the parry timing will be just right with many weapons, I did this with a rapier.

If your talking about when he disappears and does his meteor thing, no idea that was pure luck. The armor I was using the the oathseeker set but the chest piece swapped out for the death knight one
