I Beat the FIRST Vampire Survivors Version of 2021 - and it was a Nightmare!

My brother gifted me the game shortly after the orginal released. I greatly enjoyed it, but it kept crashing regularly so after playing it for a few hours I eventually didn't for a while and then forgot about it until about a year later. EDIT: Well, my PC rarely crashes. But 10 minutes into watching this video, my PC f***ing crashes. Somehow my PC knew this was the old version and decided to crash (though before it was just the game).

How nostalgic! I didn't play this early, but this was very much my experience. The game was balls hard before we had any real tools! No rerolls, no arcana, heck no evolutions! I remember being *psyched* when my favorite weapon at the time (lightning ring) finally got an evolution.

I personally don't like book much, but I love garlic, since garlic isn't as damaging, but it's more consistent until you evolve the books. Garlic is just a solid defensive option, and early offensive option, as long as you level it, imo.

I took that as "an update where a fully upgraded character would die", not a freshly created one :D I don't think there was ever a version of the game where a fully upgraded character could reasonably die, EXCEPT for the first iteration of Dairy Plant. That thing was insane. Without upgrades though the maps turn really hard, I think it's reasonable to expect to lose on many maps. No longer having the free armor, amount, revival and also rerolls makes the game way harder.

So, I ended testing it out to see if it was actually possible to get and evolve all of the operation guns weapons in a single run, and it actually is. Picking up the long gun within the normal weapon limit is mandatory, and then you can get any 5 other weapons, including your starting weapon, as long as they aren't the homing missile, the metal claws, or the prism lass. You'll get the 5 passive items needed for the weapons that you've picked up and the first case, at 9 minutes you get your first evolution and can then grab another case from level ups to get ready for another evolution and continue that until all 6 weapons are evolved. During that process you'll probably have gotten a candy box from one of the non evolving chests and picked up your 7th dlc weapon, you'll then grab your last level up case, then the passive for the last weapon you got from the candy box. From there there are the 3 dlc weapons on the new map, 3 Arma Dios, the wings which are for prism lass, and the 4 cases which you can use to evolve the 3 weapons from the stage and have an extra for if you get the candy box 2 turbo before the rest are evolved since picking it up that way while you have cases consumes one which caused me to be unable to evolve the last weapon. It does take like 90+ minutes on endless to get enough chests that evolve though.

The reason they changed Venus' color was because she was too similar to the Alura Une from Castlevania You can actually revert her to her original colors if you change her hue on Photoshop

Every time I boot up vampire survivors there is just no way to lose anymore :/ the new guns DLC was a total letdown tbh just having to grind levels to unlock characters, every run is easy, started doing hurry mode to make it faster since u are basically mega overpowered starting at lvl 1 with the cooldown arcana, times have changed.

Nothing stopping you from turning off arcana and powerups, I doubt most of the game is primarily balanced around having them all on

This is almost how I play it now....I'm confused by his confusion. lol. Seriously though, I just started playing the game like 3 months ago and have never played the expansions. I just got my base game up to where I basically have to survive all the 31-minute challenges but almost everything else is unlocked.

The 31-minute challenges are easy with Crimson Shroud and Infinite Corridor, and using mad grove, I'm surprised those are your last unlocks needed (I unlocked them pre 1.0 so not sure what a linear play-through looks like post launch), Are you talking explicitly about unlocks, or are you including secrets and all characters?

In my playthroughs, the first bat boss rarely spawns a chest.

It's a 30% chance affected by luck, but on the very first run it's a scripted chest order for new players. But that wasn't the case in this version yet

I don't think first try is possible. The way it's done is by getting bloody tear and outsustaining the enemies, but since the evolution isn't a thing yet I don't think it's possible. The lack of the chest sequence is fine, someone would just need to get incredibly lucky to get them and also with a decent chest type (as in making up for the triple/penta), but the main issue remains that the enemies storm you too much.

This is weird, i'm been waiting for this video because i used to play the io version Even after buying and clear the Game just for the nostalgic value, after dex says it doesnt work i go and check Myself and indeed the version change how knows when, the older ver can be easy detect because iirc mortacio appears in the character screen selection to Buy for like 1000 gold, at least for me the io ver works fine but no sound

I'm referring to the very first version on Steam, I think that one was a port from itch that doesn't work. I don't know it for sure, was just my theory as the version I play here was uploaded on the same day as the first one

I really like the beginning of Vampire Survivors - you feel very vulnerable and every run brings you closer to victory. Unfortunately, after a while, the game becomes very easy. For me, this is the biggest downside of the game.

100% agree i just got back into the game to finish grinding the dlcs and get the contra one, im hoping the adventure modes will help feel like little restarts for me
