Is this game intended to be a rouge-lite? For example will some upgrades and skills carry over from tree to tree/run to run? So early might be hard and lead to failure but those failures make the future runs easy?

The food in the ground is from letting that apple spoil. I've been making my trees low and wide and that seems to make it easier to defend from birds. Don't know if it helps with goats but maybe the low branches can distract them from the trunk

Well, Drae probably could've done better but (A) he kinda shoe-horned himself into spamming emergency food which is pretty inefficient and his deck choices probably also made it harder because he couldn't get enough grow essence (though TBF that one seems pretty tough to acquire right now anyways) and defences so he was always stuck trying to re-acquire lost progress

Food does not respawn, Drae, it is because the fruit that you had overripen, and it fell into the ground, becoming that huge pile of food. Again, they DO NOT respawn.

There should maybe be a mechanic/card(s) where you can replenish the soil. It's not wholly unrelated and can help the player if you get bad rng or something

Photosynthesis should be automatic. Having to spend an action on it is a dumb contrivance to cram the game into the mechanic for balance purposes. It could likely have been balanced with auto photosynthesis if the dev had wanted to put in the effort.

This game is easy and you're telling that the dev was not putting enough effort to make the game more easy. Drae makes it look hard because he doesn't do well with strategy games and planning ahead, and that is essential in this game. Photosynthesis is very much a broken skill that gets more insane the more you know how to manage and reach for resources, and you want that to automatic and trivialise the whole thing into just going for resources without having to think when to sacrifice that to gain more temporary resources? No offense, but no. Another reason why gamers should not be game devs.

@@swordzanderson5352 And not understanding basic English or how things work. Plants don't have to play cards to use photosynthesis. They just do it automatically. This is why people who engineer things shouldn't build things. They always think they know best and that their logic is always the best, even when it makes absolutely no sense. You need your game to be played by gamers. If a mechanic you made makes the gamer feel like you are wasting their time with a gimmick, they won't play your game. It doesn't matter how well you think the mechanic plays in your system you've created. If the end result is unhappy gamers and not many sales, you failed.

@@eduardopena5893 No shit, breathing is actually automatic as well for smaller species and your lungs, but plants have to actively change from photosynthesis to growth through automated systems, and bringing science into a game about using cards to dictate the growth of a plant, not a very good example of an argument, especially when engineers would definitely know how this argument falls extremely flat. And yes, it will be played by gamers, however, all I see is YOU being upset that photosynthesis is a play and not automatic. The game's only winning condition is survive, and THAT is only failed if you have insufficient food or your plant's hp is depleted by enemies. In that sense, water and sun only serve as an alternative way to gain food next to the most sensible way to gain food: growing your plant to extend your root system to just passively gain food and get closer to more food. As you do so, you also get water, and if you also have been using Sun Absorb enough as a sign of foresight, you can preemptively Photosynthesise to stockpile on food or gamble to Photosynthesis later to maximise Miracle usage on growth, resource gain or defenses. Making only that automatic already takes away that decision-making and planning aspect of this game, which is the bread and butter of strategy games, and if we follow your logic that the game should follow real life, which even the most realistic games don't 100%, then Sun Absorb should be automatic, so all you have to do is just grow. 'Then just balance it so that food cost per day is way steeper', you might say, but then, when the game already has few systems going for it, and by striping away one of its major systems by making automatic but just balancing it so it doesn't make an impact, rendering it useless, you made the game have even less mechanical depth. And if you don't want it balanced that way, what, you just want it easier? I first-tried this game in the demo with 2 Wasps, one Caterpillar and one Scarab on the surface and 2 Scarabs below, which would likely dealt with the goat boss, with every mission complete and having surpluss Miracles everyday. I'm not even trying to say I'm good at the game, because this game is truly easy compared to a LOT of good strategy games, and not even the ones that are hard like Slay the Spire, and Slay the Spire is FAR FROM the hardest, compared to stuff like, say, Darkest Dungeons. And you have not once argued why MECHANICALLY this system is gimmicky, instead just saying it feels so and then just went on about how devs should act, as if you are a professional in that. Watch one video on why gamers shouldn't be devs, and why devs shouldn't always listen to gamer suggestions and only their feedback, because you are a gamer, not a game developer, you know how to play and enjoy games, not how to make one. Gamers, most of the time, do not have the slightest idea on how one change can have cataclysmic effect on everything else, evident by the fact that most critical comments on games only focus on one thing as if it is the only reason a game is bad when it is ALWAYS more.
