Okay, my theory for season 4: Joe runs around Europe for a bit. Marianne catches Joe with help from Love who turns out not to be dead and ran away with her to Paris. They put him in a cage underneath their bookstore/cafe where he lives out the rest of his days alone with our any human interaction and sometimes getting tortured by Love if she needs to release her tensions.

I haven’t watched the show much but I’m studying psychology and I think this season is supposed to show how even if he gets the “perfect ending” with the one he is stalking, there will be another obsession to fill the “void” made from lack of stimulation and excitement he feels when stalking someone. I kinda wish next season would be about Love, with Joe dead or Love running away, and she's trying to learn how to control her impulses. It'd be cool to hear her thought process through narration, whether she doubts or catches herself, whether she could be better than Joe after her experience with him. They left us with that heartbreaking face Victoria Pedretti made during Marienne's monologue about listening to the voice inside her head, then Joe killed Love! (This could also just be my massive crush on Victoria Pedretti shining through, though)
